Being a fan of Resident Evil series since the very first one I must say that this one ranks among the very best of the series. Taking cues from Resident Evil 4, Revelations is a full 3D experience but with some gameplay elements that also bring back memories of the first games.Graphics are top notch, easily outclassing everything else seen on the handheld in terms of model detail, animation, textures and lighting. Stereoscopic 3D works really good, offering a nice depth to the field of view and keeping the image quality at a high level. CGI cutscenes are 3D as well, so nothing looks out of place.Music is mostly present in action scenes, as silence and ambient sounds of the environment create a really haunting mood. You will spend a lot of time jumping from one location to another, so things never get dull. Puzzles never take too much time and backtracking doesn't distract much from what you're supposed to be doing next. There are a lot of secrets to uncover and the amount of unlockables is probably the highest compared to other Resident Evil titles. This game also marks the introduction of a new multiplayer online mode, which offers dozens of levels set in story locales with varied enemies and difficulty. By collecting points you can unlock new characters, costumes, weapons and items that help y.

Resident Evil is a well-established and much loved series of games, more or less in the survival-horror genre. Some of the more recent games of the series (I'm looking at you, Five and Six) have tended to veer more into the action-oriented "shoot hordes of zombies" area than previous Resident Evil games. Revelations, however, tries to mix both flavors into one tasty treat. And, as far as this reviewer is concerned, they did a damn good job.Familiar character Jill Valentine is the main character of the game. The player controls Jill, with her partner (and new character) Parker Luciano as back-up. Much of the game is played out on a (mostly) abandoned luxury liner, the Queen Zenobia. Combined with the music and sound effects, this heightens the sense of dread that some unholy nightmare is around every corner and crawling in every duct. The ship portions of the game are reminiscent of the older games, with a variety of puzzles and obstacles one must figure out, all the while trying to dodge and/or slay virus-infected zombies.Focus switches from time to time to other characters and locations. We play as Chris Redfield and his partner, Jessica Sharawat, as well as duo Quint and Keith. There is also a flashback sequence starring Parker and Jessica. These off-ship sequences are much more action oriented. One has a fairly standard array of armaments in the game, from hand guns.

Resident Evil Revelations is unique in several aspects. It isn't an officially numbered sequel, but it is part of the main story cannon. In fact, as we wait for the sixth official installment, we may see some characters from this game make an appearance on that game. It's a jack of all trades game that combines the tension of the classic RE titles with the more modern run and gun shooting of the modern games. The fact that I took the time to stop and write a review should say something about the game by itself. It means the game was good enough that not only did I enjoy it, but I want other people to enjoy it too. Both the 3DS and Capcom had me seriously worried for a while. The 3DS was cool, and sure, there was Mario Kart, again... and I couldn't resist picking up what was basically Tekken 6: airport and waiting room edition, but I really didn't have much desire to play the rest of the library. In the meantime, Capcom had decided to upset everyone with Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom, super duper re-release editions, locked, overpriced on-disc DLC, and the very questionable Raccoon City. In the meantime, Capcom had decided to upset everyone with Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom, super duper re-release editions, locked, overpriced on-disc DLC, and the very questionable Raccoon City. This game restored my faith in both the system and the developer. It's a mix of classic Resident Evil and the more modern style, and it's actually done well. Exploring the ship is rather fun, stuff occasionally pops out that successfully made me jump, suspense is built effectively, and the story is well above-par for a handheld as well. The game really showed that you CAN make a fully fleshed-out single player experience for a handheld system, and I really appreciated that during a pair of 4 hour flights shortly after getting the game. The graphics are top-notch for the system, including several pre-rendered cutscenes, the music and sound are very fitting (I especially loved the organ tune in one part of the ship and there's ACTUAL DECENT VOICE ACTING) and the 3D is implemented effectively..
This is a well rounded game, it offers co-op multi-player and an engrossing story. The game is broken up into chapters and "Previously on"s that break up what is a fairly linear story with a lot of very well animated cut scenes. The overall atmosphere and look of the game does not disappoint, this is not some rushed out title for 3DS, this is a must play entry in the resident evil franchise. Here's the problem, the default control scheme is a little wonky. I think it may have been done on purpose to promote the "circle pad pro" which is a second analogue stick you can attach to your 3DS. However, Once you make a couple tweaks, the controls are very tight with out it. Go into the options menu and enable the "Gyro sensor" for aiming. However, Once you make a couple tweaks, the controls are very tight with out it. Go into the options menu and enable the "Gyro sensor" for aiming. Now when you bring up your gun, you can use the acceleromiter for quick and accurate aiming, you can look around by sliding your thumb on the touch screen, and back+B is a quick 180. Once you get used to these controls you realize that it's actually one of the tightest handheld control schemes you've used.Another problem with the default settings is that the depth of field in the 3D is too shallow. I don't know why they did this, probably because they didn't want some wuss who doesn't know how to use the 3D slider throwing a douchefit about too much 3D. But it can be fixed, go into the settings and turn the 3D to maximum, from there you can use the 3D slider to adjust the depth to whatever is appropriate for you, or turn the 3D off completely in cas.
First review of any video game in a long time so here goes! This is the best portable Resident Evil game I have ever played. The game has great amount of content for the story mode and with the addition of the Raid Mode, the game is easily over 20 hours. The graphics are top notch and yes I am not the type that cares much about graphics since it is the overall game that matters more but I did have to mention it since this game incorporates the best graphics on the 3DS. The standard controls are decent and since I do not own a circle pad pro, I am not able to give feedback for it. I do have to say that it does feel a bit cramped at that times, but the developers clearly developed this game with portability in mind with the auto-save feature that let's you quit your ... MoreFirst review of any video game in a long time so here goes! I do have to say that it does feel a bit cramped at that times, but the developers clearly developed this game with portability in mind with the auto-save feature that let's you quit your game in shorter sessions and resume right where you left off. I was equally impressed with how smooth the game is, though there are times when the game lags a bit but it is bearable. The story itself is not going to win any awards, but it gets the job done. I thoroughly enjoyed the game from beginning to end but it was the Raid Mode that got me hooked even more. This is the mode that incorporates RPG elements which made it quite interesting for a Resident Evil game. I am still playing the Mode since there are so many missions to complete. Unlike the mercenaries mode of the past, the Raid Mode is much more fun and challenging since there is no time limit. With that said, here is the breakdown of how I rat.
I recently purchased a 3DS, and picked up Resident Evil Revelations as well. The first major point to make about this game, is how amazing the visuals are. Regardless of whether you utilize the 3D effects or not, this is one amazing looking game. The gameplay is also solid, reminiscent in execution to that of Resident Evil 4, while keeping some of the more intense atmosphere of the original games. Things never get too stale as you do a bit of globe trotting as multiple different characters, so you never become bogged down by the intensity of the fight for survival on the cruise ship (the main setting within the game). Some reviews from sites like G4tv.com have complained about the controls, in one capacity or another. This is a bit nitpicky. I found the controls to be solid, even without the addition of the Circle Pad Pro. The controls are exactly what fans of the franchise will expect: similar to that of the 4th and 5th installments in the franchise. Often times in Revelations, I found it much easier to hit my intended target than in previous Resident Evil games. This game also has tremendous replay value. Their are multiple difficulties to test your sanity on, and the Raid mode adds hours upon hours of gameplay. Playing online in Raid mode, or alone, is intense and fun. Working with another player is awesome, although sometimes you can become separated easily (doors don't stay open for long) but working as a team adds to the experience. The multiplayer even adds to the single.
Since the PC port has come out not too long ago, I feel it's appropriate to now review a game I've had for a long time. Revelations is a game that falls between the end of the classic Resident Evil games (RE, 2, 3, CV) and Wii Lightgun games (Darkside Chronicles) and right before Resident Evil 5.It's refreshing to see a game that's actually intended to be on the 3DS. I can't say the same for the PC port, which is a slight letdown in comparison. I felt Revelations was well worth my money when introduced and it's a great title for this discounted price. The game has a fairly in-depth campaign that's done in an episodic manner. Weapons can be saved, upgraded and traded around. You can only carry a limited number of guns, grenades and ammo at any given time. Health items have been simplified to a single green herb pickup. Reloading and inventory related decisions are relegated to the touch screen, which also has the map. This means the title has a lot less immersion-breaking paused screens. Loading is primarily done between 'hatches' and most of the exploration is more or less seamless. While the shooting controls are clunky compared to a mainstream PC or console title they're pretty good even without the optional accessory for the 3DS.As with Resident Evil 5 and 6, Revelations also has a fairly entertaining 'Raid' mode where you do small missions in campaign levels to get rewards. Leveling the character unlocks better guns and extra outfits. It's fairly entertaining and you'll pr.
I have been playing "Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D" to tide me over till this game hit, and I have played through RE4 and RE5; While all of these were good games only RE4 is a great game. I enjoyed the intelligent inventory management of RE4, allowing you to purposefully take a smaller variety of weapons in order to find more plentiful ammo for them and have more space for said ammo... this feature has been absent ever since RE4 and it has not returned here in Revelations. Revelations can't possibly combine 3 very different games together, so it picks and chooses old and new features, but the overall final package is a good game. I'll try to sum up gameplay changes so you know what you're getting into before you buy.Gameplay: This time around you will almost ... MoreI have been playing "Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D" to tide me over till this game hit, and I have played through RE4 and RE5; While all of these were good games only RE4 is a great game. You cannot affect your partner's inventory and they generally do pitiful damage on their own. There is no currency in this game, new weapons must be found, and upgrading weapons is only done through what I call weapon upgrade "chips". Every weapon only has so many slots for the chips, but you find plenty of them in varying strengths and they can be freely unequipped and swapped around so no big deal. You can only carry 3 primary weapons at any time, REGARDLESS of size, but the weapon caches arou.
