Rode NT1000 Condenser Microphone

I'm not sure I've ever worked with a more cost effective piece of gear. This thing sounds like a microphone 4 times the cost. Built like a take, performs each and every time you need it, and will make your vocals sound clear, crisp, and solid. 10/10 would recommend this mic.

This microphone sounds better than a lot of more expensive microphone. I would recommend this microphone to anyone and everyone , it's smooth on vocals and great on acoustic guitar.

A steal at any price

If you use low noize, clear pres (Mackie VLZ3's are affordable and do the job), it will you give that familiar, smoky, saturated, condenser sound on vocals that makes mediocre singers sound like superstars. You know; THAT studio sound.A word of caution: the right or wrong selection of pres, as well as eq curve, can make a huge difference with this mic. Rhode mics tend to have a noticeable presence boost. The highs are little smoother and silkier than say, the NT1 (which is also pretty good) and the bottom a little fatter, but for many applications this mic will still seem just a little too bright and in need of some analog warming. Generally, if I'm recording an acoustic guitar, I couple this mic with my Shiny Box ribbon or something else with more pronounced mid-lows to help fill out the sonic spectrum. If going in mono, its a good idea to send it through a tube pre or compensate for the brightness. You wouldn't be bad off to pick up a Presonus or an Art tube for extra if you don't have one already.All in all, bang for the buck, there isn't a better choice. If I had to live with only mic in my closet, it would be either this or the SM7B (another must-have, swiss army knife of a mic). It doesn't have the warmth of a ribbon, but then condensers seldom do. And after all, that's why eqs were invented....

Fantastic mic!

Super satisfied with my purchase! For an LDC, the NT1000 delivers amazing clarity with a ridiculously low noise floor to boot. Really impressed with both the build and sound quality - hats off to RODE! DJ City delivered the product in stellar condition very promptly - I would not hesitate to recommend or purchase from them again.

Great mic, great price

This is a great overall mic. I use it often for recording acoustic guitar in my studio, and it shines there, especially when run through a good preamp. It's a little overbright and over crisp for my vocals at times (I prefer a tube mic for my vocals), but I use this often to make a strong demo vocal when writing and, again, on several acoustic instruments. It could even be used as a drum overhead, although if you've got a cymbal heavy drummer you may need to put a shelf on the high end to attenuate some of the high end and presence boost this mic gives.It's very very quiet, and makes an excellent workhorse mic for any budget studio. Rode NT1000

I upgraded from a Samson CO1U to the Rode NT1000 for recording male vocals for music. Its definitely worth the switch! Big upgrade in the sound of quality. Ive known about the NT 1000 for years as a friend of mine has it. Also, I always saw good reviews on its clarity & quality as well as longevity. Im happy to own 1 now!

Rode NT1000 cuts through the mix...

I have been project studio recording for many years, and I can tell you that for the money (I hate it when people say that cliche') this is probably the best mic for me. I have used it on acoustic guitars, vocals, and various other percussive instruments and I can tell you simply-it sits well in the mix. It does have a slight warmth to it-not colored-and certainly has a bite at the top. I find that combination works for cutting popular vocals through and putting them in your face. Kind of like they just "float" out there, which is very desirable for my style of recording. It is really solidly built, hard metal and mesh-I would DEFINITELY recommend the shock mount (extra) and a pop screen. All in all, if this is to be your only mic you can't go wrong.

I've been working it hard for 2 years with impressive results and it's built rock solid. It's just a quality piece of gear that holds it's value pretty well because the Rode name holds respect..

Studio Workhorse

This mic and my Audix i5 see so much use when recording it's rediculous. I pull the NT1000 out for almost everything. I got it for a good price with a Presonus studio channel preamp and with some soft compression dialed in the two make everything sound sooooo nice. I've experienced no need to EQ at all for vocals (maybe a slight roll off in the highs, this mic has a LOT of presence so you may expect to use a desser) Yet somehow with having such a bright sound it has a very warm tonality on guitar amps, I've gotten the best results putting the NT1000 mixed with an i5 on guitar cabs. The crisp sound is great for micing acoustics as well or cymbals. Overall:this mic is worth every penny. Its very soft warm and clear. like the reviews said it is also built like a TANK a lot of people get the nt1a as an entry level microphone but think about it for $100 dollars more with less accessories what would you be getting? Exactly, this is in fact a studio microphone to good to be used at home in my opinion and guess where I am using it? In my home lol.
