Roku Streaming Stick+ 4K

I stumbled upon the poor reviews of Roku products and want to relate my experience with Roku's products. Over the last 7 years I have had the Roku 1, 2, 3 Express. Still use the 2, 3 most recently the Express. I have never had problems with their standalone products other than wireless connection issues which I remedied with very little troubleshooting. I have recommended and helped install units for several friends. Wireless connection issues have been the only problem. The solution has always been better placement of Wi-Fi routers or upgrading said routers to better more capable ones due to age or to circumvent location placement or multi-user conflicts in the Wi-Fi network. Because the roku stick plugged in directly to a port on the back of the tv. Ran the test and got the 4k uhd’s working but only the 4k hdr 30hz working. Annoyed again, I found that the tv instead of using HDMI port 1, needed to have me use HDMI port 2 or 3. I tried that, same. A final run at google and someone said there was a buried adjustment within the settingsadvanced system settingsHDMI output and it also had to be set to the 4:4:4 or 4:2:2. Ran the settings and success! So when I boil it all down, when hooking something up to a 4k UHD HDR10(60hz) tv you need to have the correct device, the correct settings on the device, the right cable, the right port plugged in for the device, and also have the settings enabled for that device.

We use it at our beach condo and it work’s magnificently. Most retailers sell it for $49 in-store and online, which is a seriously good price . Five stars, no doubt! I would definitely buy this Roku product again. I’m thinking about buying a new Roku 70” inch TV next because I’m just so impressed with their devices and products. This is the 3rd Roku I have purchased. I have the oldest "shelf-top" Roku device with a remote that allows me to plug in some earphones without getting up. The jack is on the side of the remote. This one is in the man-cave so when my wife wants to go to bed early, I'm not killing her with my Klipsch speakers LOL. The second Roku is a slightly smaller box that I was able to stick to the bottom of the TV - and is nearly invisible. I like this one because it has the added option of turning on/off the TV with the Roku remote. This one is in the bedroom. This latest purchase is a simply stick, attached to the HDMI Port 2, and has recently become our go-to device instead of the set-top box with Android installed. However, that being said, this stick is now on our large TV in the Living Room for everyone to utilize. I wish Roku made some reasonably priced Set-Top boxes with external ports for memory/devices, however, we are quite happy with this latest purchase - it does what it advertises and has many "surprises" with the settings I think folks will like. Make Your TV Smarter

I bought this so that I could use streaming services on an older Samsung LCD TV that lacked any "app" capability. I have other Roku devices, so Installation was easy and familiar. I only had one issue, which was that my TV's USB port did not supply quite enough power for the Roku stick. This is the first time I have had this problem, and I’ve installed other Roku sticks on older TV’s. In this case, about half the time I turned on the Roku, I’d get a warning that there was not enough power. Sometimes it would work, but eventually it would fail during streaming.I had a USB wall adapter, but the cord included with the Roku stick was too short. Note that you MUST use the USB cord that comes with the device because it has an embedded wireless transceiver. It’s responds and loads apps quickly and is easy to navigate. I like that I can customize how I arrange my, and the global search feature is very nice. One gripe I have with Roku is that they are getting to be almost as bad as cable and satellite companies when it comes to licensing content. This may change shortly, but right now, Roku and YouTube are arguing over licensing issues, so the YouTube TV app is unavailable. This also happened initially with HBO Max. Another issue to be aware of is that if you want 4K content, and you have an older 4K TV without HDCP 2.2 support, you are out of luck. I have an older Vizio TV that was one of the first 4K models out, and it does not support HDCP 2.2.I still recommend this Roku stick, but because of the USB cable issue, licensing concerns that may affect current and future app availability, and HDCP 2.2 requirement, I can’t give it a five-star rating.

Works, but with some issues.

I've had this stick for YEARS now and i don't have too many problems with it, but here is my list:1) the remote. batteries never lasted, even if I took them out when not in use, it would drain them dead within 2 uses. I threw away that remote that came with it and got a replacement one @ Walmart for $20, no more issues. And this problem gets annoying cuz I have to exit the episode and wait for the hulu episode screen to pop up, and hit resume the episode, and it replays a couple minutes before it skipped.
