I purchased this to cut a number of pieces of chain to various lengths. It cuts like a hot knife through butter. I've had it for ~a month and used it a number of times. On hardened chains, it requires a stop and start procedure, but did severe the links. You do have to be mindful of flying pieces, especially when cutting harder material. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the product.

Well... they worked... until they didn't! It would seem as if they were made for, shall we say, LIGHT duty? Like fencing, wire hangers, really small, cheap locks, etc. I used then for nails, and they worked fine (I might add that this is with a 6.0 battery), but when I really needed to cut a medium-sized lock, the jaws clamped around the hasp, and... that was it. It was as if the motor died! I then released the pressure with no problem. I tried again... with the same result. Oh, well.

I pull containers out of the port. This Ryobi Bolt Cutter has been awesome for popping Bolt seals. I've cut over 20 seals since buying and the jaws don't have any damage or indents. Only the black paint has came off but no damage at all. If your in construction this may not be the tool for you , but as a truck driver that will only use this to cut seals it works really well and would 100% recommend. Definitely a great tool to have in the truck. 👍🏾👏

I'm a senior lady and it's hard for me to cut fence cattle panels with regular bolt cutters. Regular bolt cutters just wear me out after a few cuts. I'm constantly using bolt cutters for one thing or another on my farm. I received this wonderful piece of equipment yesterday. It cuts cattle panels like butter and I was able to get so much done in a day. I also tried it out on a padlock pasture gate whose key has been missing for years and this little wonder made short work of the problem.
I haul shipping containers and was using manual bolt cutters to cut the bolt seals. Most times the seals are above my head level so cutting was difficult without a ladder. Most recievers don't have or won't cut the seals. I saw these cutters, bought them and have never looked back! These things are priceless. Set them against the seal, squeeze the trigger and without effort, the bolt seal cuts in half like warm butter. These cutters are light enough to use overhead with one hand. BUY THEM!!
Blade broke on first use.I have posted many positive reviews and had been waiting for this product, really wanting to like it. The build quality is excellent. It's high quality and substantial. The operation is smooth and the jaws are precise and powerful. However, on the first cut of stock well within the size and stated capabilities of the tool, the blade was destroyed. See photo below. Once the surprise wore off, I took a large pair of manual bolt cutters to the same stock and it made the cut.I own MANY Ryobi products, including 10 4Ah batteries, two multi-chargers and most every power tool and yard implement in their product line. Basically, my garage is green, so I'm a big Ryobi fan. This product however, does not measure up.Until the blade destruction ... I am a professional shelving installer. I normally use pneumatic cutters. I ordered this electric cutter in a pinch since I had a failure in my pneumatic cutters. This tool looked promising but left a lot to be desired. The images on the advertising showed this tool being effective cutting steel shelving. The descriptions said it cuts this shelving. Reality told a different story.I paired it with the 18volt battery and charger. Charged it up and went to test it on my shelving. I was highly disappointed in the performance. This tool would not cut through normal steel shelving. If you close the jaws all the way, there is still a gap in the cutting jaws. I think if they could just get the jaws to get closer together or all the way, it would actually snap the wire as ... MoreI am a professional shelving installer. I normally use pneumatic cutters. I think if they could just get the jaws to get closer together or all the way, it would actually snap the wire as advertised. My hope was for this tool to get me by in a pinch and maybe leave it on truck for field cutting when I cut one a bit too long. It is simply not worth the money since it does not do the job. I was stuck doing the job with manual cutters until I got my pneumatic cutters repaired. This tool is fairly lightweight. It responds slowly. You push the trigger to close the jaws (sort of ). Then a lower part of the trigger to re-open, repeat.I feel like this tool is very close to being very useable but overall is a fail.
the negative ratings are from competition or trying to scam returns. There is YouTube videos on this product. These are fierce. No other company has come out with cordless bolt cutters. This is my one and only Ryobi tool that i own. I use DeWalt, Flex, and Makita. Not into generic, cheap brands. These are something else....I will give credit where credit is do. These will cut what they are advertised to, and more. They will cut through rebar, not made for it, and it will damage the jaws, but will cut them. Jaws are replaceable, too. These things are a beast
I wanted one of these for the longest time. I finally got one and it just plain sucks. It does not cut anything that I have tried to cut yet and it's not worth the sticker they used to put their name on it. Check the YouTube video. https://youtu.be/libNzOJKjio?si=SSh09YY72BNsDEox
Highly recommended! Used this tool for multiple runs of cutting 3/8" chain down into 4 link sections. Probably not meant for production but we tried it as other methods were extremely slow and cumbersome. Probably cut 15,000 links with this tool. Occasionally blew it off with air, which seemed to keep the motor cool and keep multiple batteries charging but it worked great. Well worth the money to have around if you ever cut a few locks/chains
