I purchased this to replace a powered drop saw and it is perfect for home use. It has a laser which make cutting so much easier and the mitre adustmrnt is easy to set and lock in. Being battery powered there is no cord to plug in and it has plety of power for all cutting jobs. Highly recommended.

Having previous purchase a cheaper brand that sounds like a freight train during cutting, I was happy to go back to Ryobi choosing to enhance my collection of 18v tools for mobility, the Slide Mitre Saw has more than met my expectations. I would recommend it not only to Tradesmen but ideal for the home handyman, Not needing to wear hearing protection is great in Nth Queensland,

I was after something that was quick to cut and easy to move around, I have had ryobi tools before but I'd never dabbled in bigger tools and I took the jump and I'm glad I did, the 216mm 18v drop saw is light weight which I love easy to use and makes quick work on the cut. It helped me reno my kitchen and I wouldn't have used a thing else.

This has been a very useful tool for me with landscaping projects due to its portability. Will cut through 200x50 retaining boards without problem. Even a square cut on a 200x75 pine sleeper was no issue. My only negative is the slide rail knob feels really flimsy compared to the rest of the unit. It needs to be tightened hard to stop the saw from sliding on the rails when not in use and I'm worried it may break at some stage as a result. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase.
Unfortunately poor quality lets this saw down. On the saw I purchased the guide fence was curved inwards and was not level which meant the saw was incapable of accurate cuts. There is an adjustment however the fence is once solid piece. Returned for refund and spoke with rep in store who confirmed this was likely a manufacturing defect. Overall disappointing purchase.
I bought this a while back and have used it to cut smaller pieces, I must say, and it performs well. Takes up very little room. You cannot expect it to have huge grunt - itis what it is, but it does cut 4x2 happily and you certainly can set it easily at the compound angles it is designed for. I wouldn't take it onto a building worksite but in a weekend workshop, for that price and convenience, great!
I bought this saw two months ago and have had a total use of probably an hour on it when the motor started losing power and would intermittently cut out and lose power all together. I tested different batteries with the same results so I returned the unit for a replacement which was easy enough. After setting up the replacement unit, I did a total of two cuts (35x70mm) pine so not asking too much of it, and the motor completely died again. Two units. Two same faults with very minimal use. Its very disappointing because I really love the form factor of this saw. The front slide mechanism and size is perfect for a small garage workshop. If only the say would last more than a few cuts.......
Okay, so I returned it because something was wrong with it, clearly lots of people don’t have my problem but it happens.I didn’t love this because it was awkwardly built. The sliding bit sits in a bad position for keeping and eye on things from the right or to have access on the right hand side if you need to cut say two ends of something you might find you tend to swing it around to always have visibility from the left. If you want to place the little holder screw to the right you need to make sure you do so in a way that doesn’t block you from sliding the saw past it.The laser guide is as poor as any other similarly priced saw will be reviewed, but for me it didn’t line with the the blade the same at the start and end of the cut.The adjustment screws for ... There is no clear indication of what is the maximum reasonable cutting depth. The only really good thing with this is that it can cut stuff quickly if you don’t have access to a power plug. I think unless you NEED to have the battery operation you should consider ANY other model, it’ll be less awkward. But if you do need it where you don’t have power, it’ll do a half decent job of cuts for a while.
Typical good product from Ryobi. I’d already bought a Ryobi cordless drill with two batteries which is why I wanted the skinless model. It works well, cuts well, isn’t particularly loud, compact for sliding mitre saw. Recommended
I brought it to do robe fit outs and it is perfect for what I'm using it for. Cuts the aluminium tracks easily and also Cuts 19mm rails easily. Doesn't cost too much and is good because it's light so you can take it from room to room and save time.
