I bought this awesome little chainsaw last weekend. I have been waiting for it since Christmas. I was about to spend more than double this price to buy the Milwaukee tool & battery kit because every review said it was the best, but when I baulked at the price, the dude at Bunnings told me about this little beauty from Ryobi and that it was on the way. As I have other 18v ONE+ batteries, I thought I'd wait. I had a Stihl GTA 26 previously - another great saw and I was looking for something I could use (cautiously) one handed. This Ryobi 6" pruning chainsaw fit the bill nicely. I used if for the first time yesterday and was very impressed how smoothly and easily it cut though branches up to 75 - 80 mm. It will handle bigger logs easily. Not so good on small bendy ... MoreI bought this awesome little chainsaw last weekend. I have been waiting for it since Christmas. This Ryobi 6" pruning chainsaw fit the bill nicely. I used if for the first time yesterday and was very impressed how smoothly and easily it cut though branches up to 75 - 80 mm. It will handle bigger logs easily. Not so good on small bendy twigs as it jumps around and one-handed operation is dangerous as with any saw (The Ryobi 18v Secateurs work very well on those). The design and ergonomics of this saw have been very well thought out, making it easy and very satisfying to use - It just feels right in the hand. The chain tensioning is very simple and well designed. It does not have automatic oiling, but given the leaks I have with every other automatic oiling chainsaw, I rather prefer to do it manually on this small bar before and after each use - it only take seconds - somewhat less time than I've spent cleaning up the leaks from other saws. Time will tell how durable and reliable it is, but given my ever growing range of Ryobi tools, it was good to be able to get just the right tool that operates on the 18v ONE+ platform and buying it from Bunnings gives you great confidence if anything goes wrong. I used it for about 15 minutes on a 4 ah battery and still had 75% left in the battery. A pleasure to use and I'm looking around for more things to cut with it. So pleased I didn't spend the extra $ on the Milwaukee and with the 6" cutting bar, The Ryobi saw has more cutting capacity than the Milwaukee (4.5") and the Stilhl (4") and in my opinion provides very good competition to these more expensive high end alternatives. If you are already on the Ryobi ONE+ platform - this sensational little chainsaw is a no-brainer.

This is an excellent tool, I have a lot of chainsaws from petrol to electric, they are all too heavy for my wife to use trimming small trees and bushes. This according to my wife is the best tool yet as good at cutting and very light.

Amazing tool, much better than my OPS 18 Garden pruning saw. Cuts branches easily, lightweight, easy one handed operation (the other one for holding to the ladder). Will recommend this tool to anyone.

The Ryobi 18V brushless pruning saw is now my number one favourite One+ product. I’ve been waiting for Ryobi to produce a small pruning chain saw after loving the 18V One+ pole pruner and this is it! After taking hours and hours to prune and cut down several large garden trees with the reciprocating saw, this pruning saw does it in minutes. It cuts through wet branches like a hot knife through butter and while not so quick through dry wood it still does it quickly. The flimsy blade guard is not very useful and generally gets in the way really. After a few uses the end of the guard has a 5cm cut where the guard has come in contact with the saw blade during operation.
This is a very helpful tool, its compact design make it an ideal garden/handyman’s power tool.
Purchased this little pruner to for use cutting small sticks etc for a fire whilst travelling in our motohome, turns out also good for getting rid of low lying branches which saved us roof damage a couple of times already!
Well balaced easy to use compact chain saw, could do with aotomatic oiler.
This pruning saw is a must for all gardeners. It is compact, easy to use & gets in to awkward places.Much easier to use than normal chainsaw for pruning reasonably large branches. Battery & chain life is very good. Used for full 10 hrs pruning fruit trees & chain still sharp. Only drawback is having to manually lube chain. (not a show stopper but was not clear on product literature) Chain guard does get caught up some times & will get damaged by chain from time to time. (unavoidable but guard makes it safer)
Pruning saw is great in particular if you don’t have strength to use a saw or cutters to cut branches, etc
If you already have the Ryobi 18V battery system, buying the Ryobi tool only mini chainsaw is probably the best value for money solution to your light duty chainsaw needs. It cut through frangipani branches easily, had a little more trouble with denser-branched plants, but was easy to use, quiet and lightweight. It doesn't come with chain oil, so you have to buy that separately, WD-40 is not sufficient.
