Brushless Pruning Secateurs

I recently bought myself Brushless Pruning Secateurs for Mother's Day. I was finding regular secateurs harder to use as I have some arthritis in my hands. I thought that with a battery assisted set it might make life easier for me. I was correct. The new secateurs snipped the their way through the pruning task with ease without damaging the plant in any way. The wait time between snips was minimal so pruning was completed efficiently. I like the mechanism for opening and closing the secateurs when starting and ending use of the tool. The beeper was a good alert for these functions. One thing I will say, however, is that this tool must be used carefully as the blades are very sharp and the cut quite powerful. Spare fingers need to be kept well out of the way. ... MoreI recently bought myself Brushless Pruning Secateurs for Mother's Day. And my Ryobi blower, rotary tool and staple gun. My green tool family!

Once you start getting that little bit older you find things get a little harder in the garden! Thank goodness for Ryobi I say. I purchased a pair of the gardening pruners and can I just say wow! The ease of use is amazing, I no longer struggle with trimming any branches as these bad boys just snip through whatever I need to cut like butter. I would definitely recommend these. I also purchased a trimming saw ( just like a mini chainsaw) for those bigger branches that were just that little bit too big for the pruners. The only thing I would say against these products is not really Ryobi’s fault but you can get a little out of control lol only because they are so easy and fun to use. Happy Ryobi’ing everyone

Highly recommend -- use with care though

I need to cut back bushes and branches of trees quite often and like to cut them into smaller pieces to fit more into my council green bin. This used to be quite tedious with regular secateurs. This however makes it very easy. It cuts green branches a bit over thumb thickness pretty easily, which brings me to the point .... watch your fingers.Unlike regular secateurs which you'd stop if you started to get a finger in the way, this one will keep cutting. So be very careful of your fingers and definitely keep a long way from children.

It’s a beast! An impressive tool all around.
8 December 2022

Having purchased this for my wife who loves her gardening but who also suffers arthritic hand pain I decided to test it before handing it over to her.I used it to cut up large hard and desiccated palm fronds. 1 hour later I had managed to completely reduce the large pile of fronds to zero and completely fill 2X 240litre green waste bins. This little tool is a beast. It was paired with a well used 2.5amp hour battery ( fully charged). An hour of solid use on large normally difficult to cut (by hand) palm fronds (and yes in this circumstance I would usually use my fully functioning mulcher. But I really wanted to test the tool out.The pros:- the tool is well constructed and ergonomic.- excellent grip and well balanced when paired with a 2.5ah battery.- the trigger is operated and held with only light pressure, reducing hand fatigue.- the tool has a large cutting diameter with excellent power that manages to reduce to match sticks hard stems as thick as your big toe.- the blade is sharp and the cut is clean.- the battery power consumption is impressive. Having used the tool for a sold hour on stuff I’d normally mulch and having used it several times since the battery capacity on my well used 2.5ah battery is still showing full.- the blade removal is easy and intuitive.- the safety time out and 3 second trigger operation to activate and power off reduces the risk of unwanted tool operation.Cons:- the tool is pricey.- this tool will easily remove your fingers. Be careful! If you’re an avid gardener or a gardener who experiences difficulty using secateurs this robust little tool will pay for itself in no time. It’s well worth the purchase and I would thoroughly recommend this tool.

Makes pruning sooooo easy!
23 January 2023

After discovering my father already had some and seeing them in action, I had to add them to my one+ kit. Wow! So easy and EFFORTLESS! There is literally nothing to do except a light touch of the trigger! No hard squeezing or anything like traditional secateurs. Had used rachet style ones in the past which were ok, but still required work from the user. But these are like a hot knife through butter! New favourite gardening tool! Thanks Ryobi!

Most used tool I own
24 December 2022

I thought these would make my life easier, but I didn't know the impact. I have a back yard full of Golden Cane Palms and chopping the fallen palm fronds was always a chore. I use to let them pile up and once a week use hand secateurs to chop them up to fit in the green waste bin, but now they are used on a daily to keep my yard clear. They have made this task completely effortless and fun.I also need to mention they are probably my most feared power tool. Do not have any complacency when using them, as they will have no remorse. Keep your other hand well clear.

Motorised Sweeper

I have a Ryobi 18V ONE+ Motorised Sweeper (#R18SW3-0) plus 4 or 5 other Ryobi Products. They are easily my best investments.Previously I used to hose down all my cement undercover areas, this took time and water. Now it is a breeze and takes no time at all. It picks up everything including grass clippings and leaves. It gets a good work out as my 18 month old Grandson, also loves this sweeper and when he is outside he loves to “kick start” it and push it around, a great little helper.I also have the 18V ONE+ HP™ Pruning Secateurs Tool Only (#R18XSEC20) – brilliant and easy to use, especially if you have problems with your hands, very light. My 18V ONE+ 7.5L Sprayer Skin (#OWS1870) is light and so easy to manage, no pumping required. My 18V ONE+ Bypass Lopper ... MoreI have a Ryobi 18V ONE+ Motorised Sweeper (#R18SW3-0) plus 4 or 5 other Ryobi Products. They are easily my best investments.Previously I used to hose down all my cement undercover areas, this took time and water. Pruning Made Easy!
15 May 2023

Love this electric secateurs. It cuts through branches like butter. It has replaced not only my hand/manual secateurs but also my lopper. However, do beware, the hand trigger can be sensitive, so keep your fingers well out of the way if you want to keep them. There were numerous times when I was just trying to position the secateurs to cut and it triggered off. I have developing arthritis in my fingers and this tool has made pruning so much easier. The only issue I could forsee is the remove of the battery for recharging. I found it a little difficult to remove, having to wrap your hands and fingers around the width of the battery to depress the two side clips to pull the battery off. This was tricky with my developing arthritis and small hands.

Pruning has never been easier!
11 September 2022

With the arthritis in my hands becoming increasingly worse, I thought that my days of pruning in the garden were fast coming to an end. It was quite a depressing thought for an avid gardener. Then my husband surprised me with a pair of Ryobi pruning secateurs! At first I was dubious as to how effectively I could wield my new tool, given that they look rather bulky with the battery attached. However, I quickly discovered that they are not only well balanced, but surprisingly lightweight with the smaller 2.5Ah battery attached. They cut through 2cm branches with ease, with the added benefit of putting little to no strain on my arthritic hands. They are definitely a formidable accessory for any gardening enthusiast!

These are not for "Kids"!!. These could lop off a finger in a seond and need to be handled with care! But for what they have been designed for they are Brilliant!!They can cut through bushes and branches that are 27mm thick with out breaking a sweat (Both the device and You).I recently cleared my back area of some trees and bushes and these were instrumental in that work. They made breaking branches down to manageable/disposable sizes a breeze and quick. As long as they are smaller than 27 mm (but must confess I did cut a couple items that would of been 30mm, they slowed down a little on these but still bit through. They have great safety features built in, such as going into sleep mode if no cuts are made within seconds of the last one. Also needing to hold the trigger for 3 seconds to awaken, these may annoy some folks but I think for such a device are great features. The Pro'sLight and easy to use, can see why folks with Arthritis love these. The Battery last forever, when clearing out the back area I used these on and off for 5 days straight and there was still charge left, I used a 4.0AHr Battery pack. The Con'sThe trigger is a little to light, quite easy to trigger an unintended Cut action, with potentially a bad outcome for the userThe Price is just a little too high at @ $199 especially when there is no battery included, the model it is replacing is running at considerably less.
