This is an easy to use pruning saw that is ideal to use on green or dead wood. It is well balanced and is not too heavy. It cuts fast and is great to clean up those fallen branches. It is a great a addition to the gardening shed

I bought this from midland Bunnings only a few days ago. Followed the advice of fellow reviewers and fitted the Diablo blade straight up and to say I was underwhelmed with the performance would be an understatement. The blade starts off very slow and all of a sudden speeds up to what Iβm guessing is the correct speed itβs supposed to work at all on its own whenever it feels like it. Battery is full and blade is fitted properly. It could actually be quite dangerous if the operator is not expecting it. The saw has great potential. Ergonomics were comfortable and it was only let down by its performance. Such a shame. I hope Ryobi sort out this product as Iβm 20 tools deep into the ryobi brand and actually like the products.

I had the old 2012ish version this and it was awesome and bought this one as a replacement. With the new model when the blade got under any load with a finger size twig the motors slowed way down and it struggled. I returned it as I believed it was faulty and the same thing happened with the replacement. not sure if it was a dud batch or not

Very useful. This tool avoided the need for a chain saw and was able to get into places a chain saw couldn't. The 65mm limit not a problem for small to medium shrubs. Very handy for severe pruning of Bougainvillea and Dombeya. Doesn't work well on 'springy' smaller limbs. These have to be firmly held or better cut with good clippers. Some reviewers recommend a better saw blade, but the original is still going well on green limbs.
It looks too small to do anything, but this actually works great. It was really easy to use. It would have worked better had I read the instructions properly and used the branch grip. It was comfortable to hold.
I bought this tool as I have a problem with my elbows, I can't manually cut for long periods of time. This does the job efficiently. It is easy to hold and not too heavy for a woman to use. The only problem I find with it is the button on top to make it go does not lock, you have to keep your finger on it and pull the trigger at the same time. The cutting action is fast and ploughs through the cutting. I highly recommend this tool.
A bit difficult to use in one hand. The lockout of the trigger position, means you need to place your thumb on top, and then simultaneously press with your trigger finger, making it run, before moving your thumb back to grip it properly whilst it runs, and then applying it to the branch. The most annoying thing is the speed, it runs too slow; but when it encounters heavy resistance it blasts away at full speed, quite disconcerting. One can easily get caught out with it running at full power, it vibrating quite vigorously. The cutting performance is also just average.
Firstly, thanks to Bunnings for replacing and then returning my Ryobi pruning saw. This is the first Ryobi tool I have found totally unsuitable for its intended purpose. I thought the first one was faulty, and its replacement did exactly the same thing. The saw isn't anything like powerful enough. It struggles to cut even a small branch - nothing like the 50-60mm diameter maximum suggested. As soon as the saw touches the branch, it slows down and won't cut it. This is a design/build/quality fault.
Gave this a good run on the weekend after swapping the default blade with a Diablo 6" pruning blade (with the big teeth). Great for branches that are too big for pruning shears, fidly for small stuff (use your pruning shears). Safety switch is in an akward location so you have to mostly let go of the handle to get your thumb up there (this needs to be fixed). Really good for thinning where you are reaching between branches and have limited space.Found that once you get it running and it powers up, just hold the trigger open and let it rip. The Diablo blade combination with this means that it does not clog and is good for branches all the way to the tip of the blade.
Taking this back immediately! It starts slow every cut for no reason. The safety trigger is an uncomfortable thumb pull down action. The oscillating blade operates at the same frequency of most branches its recommended to cut and so instead of cutting; it shakes the branch/tree and the operator! It's less effort to use a $13 hand saw (not joking).I find it hard to believe this was tested by anyone.Consider taking up karate before buying this.
