Unusually for these devices this aluminum drive is beautiful to touch and use. The slide actuation acts like a self-closing cabinet drawer, very elegant high quality compared to any plastic unit, photos do not do it justice. Beautiful thing.Performance is superb, blinding fast. Well worth the extra cost.

I would NOT buy this product again
12 June 2017

I bought this item to load movies ( because I travel allot) and large files. When I looked at the speed for this Drive Max. Read Speed: 420 MB/s Max. Write Speed: 385 MB/s I thought is a great item, it works great on my MacBook Pro, and my desk top machine as well, but when I put this drive to my Smart TV, TV was not able to read it the movie files at all. Same time I bought Kingston 512GB HyperX Savage USB 3.0 Flash Drive Max Read Speed: 350 MB/s Max Write Speed: 250 MB/s this one work perfect all the ways. I load a movie 8GB and looked at the speed, on both devices, and looks like that Kingston beat the SanDisk in 10 seconds faster total time was 1 min 43 sec. and SanDisk 1 min 53 sec.

I'm happy with my purchase.
29 August 2021

I'm using a WD_BLACK 1TB SN850 along with the Extreme Pro 128 on a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port (current fastest Type-A, however it's being relabled). I used an 8.29 GB movie to give you an idea of the time it takes. Transferring from the flash drive to my PC took 19 seconds. Transferring from my PC to the flash drive took 47 seconds. I did both tests a few times and the numbers were the same. I generally got around 320 MB/s transferring to the PC and transfers to the flash drive started off around 330 MB/s but slowed to ~160 MB/s after 30%. The drive does have smaller space than listed (123 GB of free capacity, with mine being set to 115 GB). That doesn't matter much to me, but I know it does to others.

Its fast!
24 November 2019

Got it to move large file around and boy, its FAST. You'll feel it when you're working on those huge 4K videos. I'm happy with the speed, and the Sandisk warranty is reassuring. One point, do consider getting a USB 2.0 extension cable: for situations when you might find that this flash drive may not work with your standalone device(Roku TV for eg), it works magic. All in all, if you like the speed and can afford it, go get it. You definitely won't regret.

SSD Performance in a Thumb Drive
24 February 2017

Pros: SSD Performance in a thumb/flash/USB drive, awesome design, USB 3.1, excellent build qualityCons: noneOther Thoughts: the Thumb Drive does get very warm under mid/heavy use but it's normal for this kind of USB Drive so don't worry about itATTO V3.05 Benchmark scoresUSB 3.0: 425 MB/s Read, 394 MB/s WriteUSB 3.1: 432 MB/s Read, 396 MB/s WriteI don't see much big difference between using USB 3.0 and 3.1 on my ASUS Z170 Hero by switching USB Ports, also it will run just fine on USB 3.0

Purchased this as a gift for my daughter and her husband to include a very large movie I made for them. Needed something quicker than normal 3.0 flash drive. Wow! This flash drive is extremely fast and very well made. Great for very large (or many) files when desiring fast performance. And of course it is backward compatible to 3.0, 2.0 USB ports. Expensive but worth it. Would purchase again.

Transfer speed you can get used to
6 October 2019

I´m working off a SSD HD in my PC. Nothing fancy but transfer rates are consistently anywhere between 75MBs to over 400MBs relative to the size and quantity of files being transferred. I´m using the drive very regularly (not always daily) and am very pleased with the performance of the drive.Only drawback is superficial. Scuff marks on the edges of the drive from ordinary use. I had to drag this down to Earth somehow, right? In the future I´ll only be using 3.1 SSD flash drives (unless some other future tech runs this over). Anything else is just plain slow. FYI: Weather or not you decide to buy this drive, just remember to check transfer speeds of the actual drives inside the casing. USB 3.0 or 3.1 is just an interface, check what the drive itself can deliver.

Will not work on USB 3.0 Mac computers
31 October 2017

The first one would not appear in Finder on either my 2015 Macbook Pro or my 2013 Macbok Air. Joseph in B&H technical support worked with me by phone. We tried to reformat the drive but could not access. Joseph concluded the drive was faulty so it was exchanged for a replacement. Second drive arrived and voila, it appeared in Finder, both computers! So I opened it and clicked the New Folder dropdown and typed a folder name, then clicked enter. The endless pinwheel appeared. Eventually I had to force computer to shut down. After that, this new thumb drive would not appear in Finder, either computer. So I again called and was pleased to again get Joseph, with the patience of Job and expert experience. On Joseph's advice this second Sandisk was exchanged for a similar drive from a different manufacturer, delivery awaited. Cheaper versions of USB 3.0 Sandisk 128 GB thumb drives (and all other thumb drives I've used) work perfectly for me, both computers. Reason I went for this expensive version is it's much faster write speed which I needed for a large project. I use the latest OS 10.12.6. Both computers have USB 3.0 ports. Makes no difference if drives are connected directly into computer or via Anker 3.0 hubs.
