I have been using these drives for years with no issues. I purchased two on my latest order, both serving as backup drives. The first one failed within 24 hours, we had put a lot of data on it as soon as we got it. We returned it, figured it was a fluke and that's life. Now, 1 month later, and about 65% full, the second one in the order failed. Will just blink and not show up on any computer. Would not recommend purchasing this drive, atleast this drive with these specs, we will not be purchasing again!

Just purchased a 2TB SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD. I was pleasantly surprised to find the package includes both a USB-C to USB-C cable as well as a USB-A to USB-C cable as this was not advertised on the box.So I hooked up the ArmorATD to old Samsung Galaxy S10 5G running Android 12 using the C to C cable and when the USB icon speared on the upper left, I dragged it down to connect the device. I opened File Commander and it recognized the drive, but the S10 indicated it had to be formatted before it could be used on this device. So I clicked on the format option and it took about 10 seconds to format and assigned it a regular Windows-type device ID.I then opened File Commander and clicked on USB device and the ArmorATD showed up as a drive with the ...Ā MoreJust purchased a 2TB SanDisk Professional G-Drive ArmorATD. The ArmorATD tore through the copy process in under 10 minutes with no errors and displaying copy progress, name and location, and percentage remaining for each file. Most of the filenames zipped by too fast to read. During the file copy the ArmorATD's white LED blinked. The entire copy process took under 10 minutes. I was holding the S10 in my hand watching the whole thing. Then I verified the 291GB copy was successful. This speed blew me away. My S10's total internal capacity is 512GB for reference. Don't try to have a tech directly transfer such a quantity of internal data from phone to phone as it may take hours depending upon their equipment.Another time I intend to check the transfer time for PC to ArmorATD and another random external drive to ArmorATD to determine whether this is normal or if I just got lucky with the combination of the S10 and the ArmorATD.

This drive failed. I did not drop it or subject it to any rough treatment - I didn't have it long enough to abuse it. My mistake is that I didn't realize it was wonky the whole time - I assumed it was Lightroom acting up. Then after using it for a few weeks it crashed. It won't read on any of my computers. None of them recognize the drive. If I can figure out how, I'm guessing my only option will be to reformat the drive - and losing those videos and photos I stored on the drive. I'm disappointed as I've been using the G-Technology Mobile SSD drives and never had a problem, hoped this one would be just as easy and reliable. That's a hundred bucks and a weeks worth of work out the window.

Honest opinion? Someone decided that people are fools anbd will buy anything if is looks a bit cool. The hundreds of online review that give this thing a 'positive' clearly have either never even used it or are paid reviews. To be quick - so I'm not wasting your time.a) This is a very simple spinning-platter style portable hardrive. People have bought and returned mountains of these things because they believe they were faulty. You need to use a third-party piece of software (i.e. find it yourself..) and then reformat the drive for windows in order to use it. Windows cannot reformat it by itself.e) One you have it actualyl working - performance is OK, nothing special. I have about 20 different portable and non-portable drives. This one is middle of the road. Does the job but don't expect anything that you can't achieve with gear half or 1/3rd the price..I didn't return it - because after the hassle of actualyl getting it working, I figured I'd just use as a static backup of some data and it has been sitting in a drawer ever since..
Got this for a short term backup drive. Fortunately, I used a raid 5 device as a main drive, which is time machine to a second drive. This was to be the third device for backup. After four days it doesn't show up on my desktop. The power light is on, but it's dead. Tried different cables and both the Thunderbolt and USB connections on two computers.
Firstly, these are formatted for Mac by default and will not work initally for windows.Must be reformateed for windows. Assuming you are OK with knowing how to do that. But of course there is zero information about that on the box or in the (laughable attempt at..) instructions. Now, reformatting is not a terribly tough job, but if you are (for example) using your work computers and do not have admin rights, good luck. So, plan to reformat the drive on your home PC or elsewhere BEFORE you really need to use it..Also note, this drive is NOT FAST. It is essentially an older technology 2.5 inch mechanical/physical drive. It might say USB C 5 Gbps and USB 3.1 etc.. but it will never actually deliver on those inferred speeds.Positives? Great hard drive. It is very compact and light weight. It is a perfect hard drive for working on the go. It's fast and durable. I needed a external hard drive to back up my files from my computer. This has become my favorite portable drive . Its pretty fast and Iāve transferred a lot of data from my laptop, freeing up space and I have all of my important docs at my fingertips with lots of free space left over. The external edges are cushioned, has a rubber bumper to withstand a long fall onto a hard surface. It is ready to go with Mac and also compatible with Windows via reformat. The greatest feature for me is the USB-C connector which is very easy to use,The connector is also protected by a silicone cover thatās very easy to put on and off. I bought this external hard drive to replace what I initially thought was a failing external hard drive. Fortunately, all I needed to do was recover the data, put it onto this hard drive, and reformat the old one. Now, I have 2 - 4TB external hard drives to have my backups on. I have always used SanDisk memory cards for photography and have never had an issue. I expect the same level of performance out of this external hard drive. It looks and feels very rugged, like it could take a punch or two. I will try not to test that out, but it looks and feels ready if necessary. Time will tell if I feel the same way about it down the road.
The item is listed as plug and play, that turned out not to be true. My Windows 11 computer could see the drive when plugged in, but it did not show up on the drop down menu for use. Apparently, this is a known issue, thankfully there are videos on YouTube that explain how to fix the problem. Once I followed the YouTube fix the drive worked great. I'm happy with the drive, not so happy with the extra research needed to get it working.
I received a few days ago the SanDisk Professional 1TB G-DRIVE and it the perfect Hard Disk Drive to save your most important files, data, pictures etc...In the package you will find the HDD itself and two cables, one USB-3, USB-C and one USB-C, USB-C. This is very handy because you do not need to buy extra adapters depending on your computer. The bring up is more than easy, just plug it!!! If you have a windows system or a chrome book you need to format the disk preferably in NTFS for very big files. The speed is there, it takes seconds to copy most of your files. The real big plus of this HDD is its robustness, it is not afraid of a bit of water or falling in the ground. It makes it ideal to save you most important data.I copy all my kids pictures and ...Ā MoreI received a few days ago the SanDisk Professional 1TB G-DRIVE and it the perfect Hard Disk Drive to save your most important files, data, pictures etc...In the package you will find the HDD itself and two cables, one USB-3, USB-C and one USB-C, USB-C.
