I ordered my Type-C Aluminum Stand and Hub in grey for use with my new 2020 Mac Mini with the T1 chip sometime in January 2021. The new silver version wasn't available when I placed my order. The grey version knocked out my Wifi. I tried everything to solve the problem, but couldn't. I contacted Tech Support by email. After four or five days spent sending and receiving emails from Tech Support, I decided to send a photo of my setup. JD, the Tech Specialist, noticed I had the grey model in the photo and said I needed the new silver hub. They sent me the new silver hub, and I returned the grey model. That solved the problem. It works great. I have no WiFi connection problems. I love the design and functionality of this hub. I'm thrilled it works with my new Mac Mini. ... To clean up your computer desk, I highly recommend this hub. Thanks Satechi for replacing the older model with the latest one.

Love the look and how it compliments the Mac Mini M1 Chip. Every ports work with one big compromise. And that is the speed you get. I hook up my Samsung T7 directly to the Mac Mini via the use-C, and got around 800-900mb/s. That reduced down to around 200-250mb/s when connected to the hub's USB-C. For normal use is ok. You won't know the difference. But for someone chooses to pay for speed to get a fast hard drive, this doesn't make sense. I returned mine.

Second product that I purchased. So I was ecstatic when it this arrived in the mail... I am happy, Lemme back up. First off, I discovered this company upon the initial announcement of this product. I Needed a way to connect more peripherals and I needed a card reader. I ended up buying their SD/XD card reader. Which brings me to this point. I was disappointed when I first plugged in the hub to the mini because the card reader did not work (from the previous purchase I knew to plug it in “upsidedown”). ;-) I believe in the work of this company, and I knew there had to be a solution. Eventually after through scouring the site, I figured out that I needed to download a driver. *facepalm* I am thoroughly pleased with its performance, and I am now a dedicated customer. ... The only reason why this received ⅘ stars is due to the fact that it did not indicate clearly that a driver may be needed. In the next release, HDMI input with at least 4k output/input, ARC compatible and a way to run, and perhaps be included in a GPU? (and hopefully under $400) I know, keep dreaming!

Hi, I attached this unit to my brand new Mini Mac and immediately problems started. Unfortunately, I did not think it was this unit causing problems, but I thought it was the Mini Mac. After going to the Apple service, here in Belgrade, Serbia and , naturally , paying for their service, I got home happy thinking now it is OK. But the problems, did not go away. Since I did not have the wi fi connection, I turned on the Mac and worked with canon scanner. Sudenly, I start seeing warnings "Your computer has a problem", Kernel problem report. Since I did not have the wi fi connection, I turned on the Mac and worked with canon scanner. Sudenly, I start seeing warnings "Your computer has a problem", Kernel problem report. All that did not make any sense, so I started process of elimination, which I should have done at first place. After disconnecting back up HD and CD/DVD burner (Apple brand) I finally disconnected this little gray unit. All problems were gone. I had the WI FI connectio working, the mouse and keyboard working fine and no Kernel warnings. I would return this product to you, but the shipping cost would be higher than the cost for the unit itself. So, I hope you understand why I gave you one start only. Actually, you should have no start rating which is more appropriate. Enjoy my money! Regards, Goran
Dock was as described, color, size. Setup and function were relatively easy. Two little things: 1- the SD card slot was a little tight and unwieldy at first, but after a few inserts and removals everything started to work smoothly. 2- There seems to be a slight heat issue, but after putting a small block in the well that is no longer an issue. It never did overheat, but caution is as caution does.
I've had my Stand & Hub for my Mac Mini for 2 weeks now and it's been great. It looks wonderful with the Mac Mini docked in it and I'm really enjoying the extra ports especially being on the front. My only "gripe" is that I wish the USB C ports were all the fastest available, but most of the time I'm not needing that kind of speed so it's not a deal breaker. For ~$80 this is an outstanding deal and it adds a lot to my setup.
Fits the 2020 Mac Mini M1 perfectly, as advertised. It's a simple, stylish way to get additional ports more conveniently on the front. The USB-C connector cable is permanently attached on the rear of the Satechi hub, and is located in such a way that it can easily reach a rear USB-C connection on the Mac Mini. The Satechi hub looks and acts just like it should -- like it came straight from Apple as a peripheral! An additional bonus -- the 1/8" stereo headphone jack is auto-sensing. When I plug in headphones, a new sound device "Satechi Mac Mini Stand" appears in Mac OS (I'm on Monterey currently). This is also super convenient, since I can set default devices up the way I like. This product is thoughtfully designed and lives up to its reputation as being the best ... MoreFits the 2020 Mac Mini M1 perfectly, as advertised. The selection of ports is great. I was able to read external hard drives and memory cards at reasonable speeds. The silver color matches really well to the Mac Mini M1. I like that Satechi aligned the LED "on light" on the Hub to the one on the Mac Mini M1. It looks super slick in my setup. The only con is that my Mac Mini M1 did get hotter than normal when sitting directly on the hub. Not crazy hot... but noticeably hotter then normal. I'm not sure the Mac Mini was able to get enough air through it's bottom vents when sitting directly on the hub. So I ended up buying some self adhesive rubber bumper pads and sticking them to the top of the hub in to raise the Mac Mini off the hub more and that seemed to fix the issue. Leading me to believe that it was indeed an issue with the hub blocking the vents on the bottom of the Mac Mini M1. Hoping in future releases the hub will be redesigned to allow better air flow either by making the recess the Mac Mini sits in shallower or by adding a fan or more ventilation in the hub itself or both. Overall, I'm satisfied with the hub but can see room for improvement.
I bought this hub and really liked it - great looks, convenient size, and port selection; but I ended up returning it due to the increase of my Mac Mini's temp. Granted it was during the heat of the summer, but the increase was quite noticeable. I opted to exchange it for the larger Display Port Stand by the same company (Satechi). Maybe it was just my Mac Mini and the work I was doing that caused the heat increase - I'm not sure. I'd still recommend this hub because of its pros.
Excellent product ! Very practical, it seems to be the lacking part of the Mac mini. The silver colour is exactly the same as the 2020 M1 Mac mini. Works as anounced, perfect with my USB alimented hard drives. Even works with my BluRay drive. I particularly appreciate the Jack port, which works with iPhone headphones, including the microphone. Shipped to France in a few days. The only thing is that I had to pay an extra customs fee (about 30€). But I’m sure to have the original !
