Satechi USB-C Aluminium USB Hub & Card Reader (Space Grey)

I’ve been using this product for a couple of weeks with no issues. The build quality is excellent for the price point. Also the customer service I received in the Wellington branch was top notch. Happy customer here.

Looks Nice - matches Silver coloured Macs like the new Mac Mini M1. However it is only powered by 1x USB-C port so you can only connect 1x powered device to the HUB at anytime. Trying to connect 2x powered devices means the 2nd device will not get enough power. Also you can not connect both SD and a MicroSD cards at the same time - one wont work. I want to love this product but it is very limited with how many / what items you can connect to it. Wouldnt be a problem if it had external power.

Easy connection!

I was frustrated for years w/ my Windows desktop and finally purchased an Apple computer. My concern was loss of USB ports since I have many devices I still use USB to connect with. Also needed to have additional USB to connect a second screen using a DVI connector. This is inexpensive and expanded my USB X 3, SDX1, MicroSDX1.

This hub is so helpful! My current desktop setup has my computer hidden away, so having this to plug USB devices and SD cards into is very handy! It has super fast transfer speeds, and looks great too! No complaints from me!

Nice design, but card reader was defective

I really liked the design, it looks good and well made and was going to satisfy my needs. However, after downloading the first SD card I noticed that it was not as easy to insert and remove the card. I downloaded two more cards and noticed that one of my cards was damaged in the contact area. All my cards are relatively new and used in a wide range of cameras and card readers and I never experienced a problem before. Hence, I returned to product and expect to receive my credit soon. I appreciate how the process was handled and I will consider to purchase item in the future.

Not worth it

Constantly disconnects drives, risking corruption of precious data and work. Absolutely NOT end-user issue. I have worked in the IT field for well over 10 years and know a faulty product when I see one. The internal sockets that house the USB 3.0 connections are not well designed, and were clearly sourced on the cheap in both design and build quality. If you value your work and data, spend more on a better quality product. I will say it's an impressive looking design and am sad it didn't work out for me.

Works great, it’s compact and fits under monitor well, makes it easy to connect/disconnect. Perfect for me as my screen has its usbc on back.

I was skeptical about buying this because the price was awesome but I wasn't sure if it would plug into my 2017 MacBook Pro. the description does say it is compatible for that type of computer and that turned out to be true! it's super convenient to have the little wire instead of the other versions that I was looking at which plug straight into it, because I can place the reader itself anywhere around my computer. it does get a little warm after about an hour or so but nothing major. it has a super sleek design that blends in really nicely with my space gray computer and it worked great when I plugged in a SIM card or a phone charger. highly recommend!
