I rarely ever write negative reviews but I thought you guys should know that it is very flimsy. The only reason I kept it is because the rose gold color matches the rose gold color of my MacBook which my daughter uses. That said, she has complained that devices plugged through the hub to the computer will lose connection with the just the slightest movement. Moreover, the hub does not fit with the computer’s clear protective case, which Apple told me is designed to accommodate hubs just like yours... All-in-all the accommodations of the hub with my computer case is a non-issue. I’m more concerned regarding the poor quality of the hub itself. Got one a little more than one year ago. Still working for USB key but not for hard drives that need more power. Avoid this product. It is extremely pricy and dies after a year of low usage.

I love the look and apparent functionality of this device. I bought two based upon their reviews. Very disappointed, and no longer use them. They do not fit snugly into the port , and even the slightest movement of your computer will cause them to disconnect, with any attached device untimely ejecting from the computer. These have really messed up my Time Machine by inadvertent Passport ejections. Not recommended.

I attempted to use this hub for my iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd generation) but it didn’t work well. It charges the iPad and passes current through to devices attached, such as as headphone amp and keyboard; and shuts down at maximum charge (which is good). Only problem or the bad is that the attached devices get disconnected or momentarily interrupted, which is very annoying, particularly for the headphone amp. Therefore, I donated it to someone with a Mac Book Air, who perhaps could find use for it.
This hub is a lifesaver. I purchased the new 2016 Macbook Pro after being a longtime Windows user and there is absolutely no way to transport your files with the only ports being USB-C. With this device I have been able to successfully transfer files to and from my laptop. I noticed it does heat up quite a bit under use to the point that it feels like it will burn you if you don't let it cool down. You also have to be very careful not to move the laptop while it's plugged in or the blue light will turn off ejecting your SD Card or USB and you will have to start the process all over again. I wish Apple would have included at least one USB port but they didn't so now I use this. There are also none that balance the added capacity for USB and have pass through for power. This has been a dealbreaker for me and even Satechi's original hub didn't do it for me. Once I saw this I ordered it . It has done it all. i can now restore my iPhone and copy data to an external, non-networked drive without agonizing over the battery life of my computer. Now I can do it all and not worry about battery life of my laptop. My order shipped immediately and I was blown away by the size of the hub & how closely it matched the space grey of my MacBook. The product's USB ports are very small and most of my USB's do not fit into the device.Also, you have to unplug the device from your computer before you plug anything into the Satechi device . If you don't, you risk damaging your Mac because of the flimsy design. i.e. The Satechi device plugs into you Mac's port on one side while the other side is not supported.The product works, but I remain unsatisfied and would not recommend this product to people looking for a USB Hub.I looked forward to using this product but was very disappointed once I started using it.
It started over heating all of a sudden and then stopped working. While I was overseas trying to work remotely. Just over a year old. Even when it was working, it would drop out so easily when it was knocked slightly.
The hub is a welcome addition to the Macbook. I rarely have the need for ports but at times they are necessary and this fills them all. I like that it fits flush with the Macbook case and the slight color mismatch is forgivable. My only issue is a bit of sloppiness in the USB-C plug into the computer which caused an intermittent disconnect in a portable drive; thankfully I lost no data and am now extra careful not to move the hub. I read about this concern in a review before I bought mine and hope future releases will have a tighter fit in the connection. All in all I highly recommend this unit.

And this usb pass through hub has no extra wires, is truly compact, adorable and very versatile (plus, for the aesthetic, comes in rose gold). I bought one and it came quickly, and I had used it a few times. It gets the job done, does exactly what it's designed for. It really is a great product. However, the usb c jack got bent? I don't know how, but I was a bit upset. I guess people have to be extremely careful, seeing as it can be damaged very easily. So, I contacted Satechi about it.
