Satechi Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Space Grey

Much better option than the crazy priced space grey Apple version. Works really well with my Macbook Pro. Blue tooth and battery are great. I leave it in the office and it connects straight away each morning. Keys feel good to type with too.

A product designed for Mac that works better on Windows

I have been using this keyboard on Windows 10 for a few months and it worked okay except occasionally repeated keys. There was no dropped connection like what other buyers commented before. And I thought I was lucky. However, recently I have started using the keyboard on a 2018 Macbook Pro and I started to experience frequent disconnections. It always dropped a few seconds after I stopped typing. And when I type again, it took a few seconds for it to connect back up. It is really frustrating when you are using the keyboard. Besides connection lost, I also experienced delay in my inputs. Sometimes, the input appears only a few seconds after I typed.

Does what is told

I got given this as a Christmas present yesterday and does what is told. The function keys do work and it is not a 2 step process when trying to skip songs or trying to change the brightness. The typing experience on this is not amazing but for the average consumer, it definitely does the work. The numeric keypad is also very handy to have despite the fact I may rarely use it, it definitely is something handy to have. The Bluetooth works great on this and the 3 Bluetooth connections make it so simple to change between my different devices like my iPad. I turned to an "familiar friend" in Satechi, who offered a space gray aluminum keyboard that is actually mapped out like an Apple keyboard with functional buttons for my MBP and other  devices. This keyboard is quality and I find myself using it even when I don't actually need to. The battery is super and lasts for weeks without needing a charge and the keys are comfortable and responsive. Great execution on this keyboard!

Took a chance and ordered this keyboard after seeing an ad or paid media placement in an article somewhere online. I had been wanting a Mac specific wireless keyboard since switching from a windows laptop to MacBook Pro recently.Price was reasonable for what appeared to be a really nice product with good reviews, and it turns out the keyboard really exceeded my expectations. Looks and feels like a very expensive device and has worked flawlessly for me right out of the box. I'm new to Macs and love that there is no bluetooth USB fob needed.The quality of the keyboard feels really nice and the finish matches my MacBook exactly. The keyboard ships with little rubber feet that you can stick on the bottom if you want it angled on your desk. This approach was pretty thoughtful IMO and works just fine. The adhesive seems very strong and the angle is just right.2. Pairing with your Mac is pretty easy and it allows pairing with up to three different devices. I only have the one laptop so haven't explored this feature much.3. The keyboard goes to sleep after a while if you don't use it. It takes a few clicks of a button to wake it up. Not sure if this is adjustable but I have quickly gotten the hang of it.Bottom line - I love companies like this that deliver a product that is as good as it gets, for a solid value price. I'm writing this review today because I came back to their website to order a mouse and realized I hadn't done a review for the keyboard.

Great, but not perfect.

The price was right, Mac compatibility nearly perfect with stiffer, longer, key travel. I was using the Mac extended keyboard with my new iMac and kept making errors because of the extra soft key travel. Was driving me nuts! While the sound is more audible on the Satechi, it's a fair tradeoff for making less mistakes.•The F keys are not 100% mirrored to the Mac keyboards, but you can create shortcuts in the keyboard prefs.•The caps lock indicator light is on the top/right - about as far away from the actual caps lock key as you can get. It's a bit annoying...getting used to it.•Shift key popped off in the first week, but was easy to pop back in. Probably wasn't secured during original assembly. No biggie.All told, I am super satisfied with this keyboard.

Horribly Unreliable with windows 10

After two keyboards have failed to pair to my hp comp using windows 10, this keyboard has been a large disapointment. The first keyboard worked for the first month until it started to stop pairing / working. I 'forgot' the device to try and re pair with it, only it failed to ever appear in the 'Add a device' list (althought other items were there so i know it wasn't the bluetooth receiver from my computer). I had this replaced with the same keyboard, and again it worked for about two months, then the number pad stopped working properly (with num lock on the arrow function worked, but with numlock off the keypad never worked). After another few weeks, this keyboard again stopped pairing with my computer completely. If it worked reliably it would be great!

If this keyboard stayed connected via bluetooth, it would be great! But a bluetooth keyboard that won't stay connected is essentially worthless.The half the time this keyboard works, I LOVE it! Well designed, quality materials, easy to switch the computer it connects to. But the other half of the time, when it won't stay connected (will lose connection in the middle of typing, not the connection timing out) makes the keyboard worthless.I thought it might be a battery issue, but I continued having the problems after charging it overnight. Waiting for future products and improved operations

I really wanted to like and keep this keyboard, but I use FileVault and with it turned on, the Mac mini does not recognize any third party keyboards at start up. It has a usb c cable that is only capable of charging the device unfortunately so I can't use it as a 'wired keyboard' to get around that start up issue.Otherwise, functionally, I really love this keyboard. Feels good to the touch, gives me the full size arrow keys that I like.One side note is that returning this keyboard was not as simple as a couple of clicks. Struggled to find the process for return. It was not clearly listed on my order confirmation. I go on the website to find that I need to email them to start the process, but the back and forth of responses was slow. Well I almost got in an accident in the UPS parking lost (obviously not Satechi's fault) but I go inside the UPS store and they tell me the prepaid shipping sticker is for USPS so that was a bummer.There's a lot to love with Satechi, and I actually bought the Mac mini hub after all of this, so hopefully more kinks get ironed out over time.

effective and seamless (enough) aftermarket "magic" keyboard

Arguably, the Satechi keyboard is better than the Apple Magic Keyboard with Keypad! It certainly has more functions than Apple's OEM offering but falls short of providing the absolute seamlessness an Apple OEM keyboard would provide. The tradeoff is I can easily use this keyboard with my iPad (which is usually right next to me on the desk) and less frequently, my iPhone, with a key press. I also really enjoy the cut/copy/paste keys as well as the additional function keys not available on the Apple version.I am finding the that this particular model of keyboard is a bit too wide on my desk with a Magic Trackpad. I am actually going to order the smaller model Satechi offers and probably use this one for a different setup.
