Living in Korea, cycling is one of the best ways to get out of the capital and see the countryside. That is, if you can pack light enough and have what is "just right" for the season and conditions. This was the first all-down "sleeping bag" I have had, and the "quilt" with open function is, for me, a tosser-and-turner at night, a provider of leg freedom when not at home. The fact that it buckled around the sleeping pad when I feel asleep was perfect so that when in the early morning on the beach I could slip between my pad and quilt, feeling warm enough that I slept in (not usual for me) and slept with enough warmth and leg freedom to make the extra morning hours on the beach relaxing and kept me in the tent.My thoughts are this is a great summer product, and I ... MoreLiving in Korea, cycling is one of the best ways to get out of the capital and see the countryside. The only question is: when can I next use it!

Hiked the TRT this summer with a sleeping bag and wanted to make the switch to a quilt. I have only used this once but it was super light weight and packable (yet to test it at near freezing temps). Looking forward to trying it out on a proper thru hike this summer!

Great down quilt
I bought the Cinder quilt because I wanted something that could pack down small but still keep me comfortable in moderate cold weather. This quilt did not disappoint, it compresses super small, kept me very warm even around 32 degrees, and packs away easily in my ruck so I can keep more in there. The only down side (which is minuscule) is the foot box is open but has draw strings to close it, I would have preferred it be sewn. Still great product, I’m extremely happy with if.
I was not sure if this would work for my needs but the first outing was a success. Igot the 35 degree and that seems good down to about 40. I put on my hooded Nano puff one colder night. I used it more or less like a quilt with my feet snuggled in the tighter end. I was on a large rectangular pad so did not use the straps, which are a bit hard to get off in the dark and not somewhere — I need a colored sack for those. I may soon get the Ether Light XT pad (as pictured) as that seems a logical match. I’m a mover at night so a quilt beats a bag (unless it’s super cold)for comfort. Debating on a hammock as that seems to be a good match for this combo, too. By the way, the fabric is heaven — no static, silky smooth to the touch.
I was looking for something during warmer season that isn't a bag. I've tried "normal" blankets, etc and just wasn't 100% happy. Packability was usually the issue, so I decided to try a quilt. It was between this and a few others, but being a fan of seatosummit decided to go with them and couldn't be happier. I've used this sleeping in the bed of my truck, to camping in the Backcountry during fly fishing trips, to sleep on the couch with it. It's high quality, packs down super small, and keeps me warm when needed.
I use this with a silk liner for camping in hot weather. Perfect for hot prairie nights. High quality and even comes with a compression sack to make it super tiny. Love it.
I haven't taken it out for a test drive yet but it's well made, light and lofty! I'll update my review when I test it out.
I like the quilt for summer use but I am having a difficult time finding the replacement straps I lost on my last outing.

Sea to Summit Cinder Down Quilt CdII Regular
The Cinder is a lightweight, super-packable quilt protected by a waterproof yet breathable shell. A drawcord pulls the foot end together into a foot box for cooler nights, and three adjustable straps keep the quilt secured to your sleeping mat. Quilts are perfect for weight-conscious backpackers. Sea to Summit quilts feature the QuiltLock system which allows quilts to connect to a Sea to Summit sleeping bag adding an extra season of warmth.
