Sea To Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Sleeping Mat - Regular

I am VERY picky about my sleeping gear and can't comfortably sleep on most camp mats. Mostly because I am a side sleeper and throughout the night I will rotate from my left shoulder, right shoulder, back, left shoulder again, etc. Every hour or so I am rotating, otherwise, my shoulders get sore.PROS: This camp mat was padded enough to keep me comfortable as I would roll in my sleep and I never felt my shoulder hit the ground. It was also insulated well enough to keep me very warm throughout the night. Conditions were around 40-45 degrees at night and it did great. Haven't tested it in colder weather yet. I also found it REALLY simple and fast to inflate and deflate. Also, the valves were great for fine-tuning the inflation level. I could let a little bit of air out without letting it ALL out, which was nice. The carrying case is great and nicely compact.CONS: I found the mat to be a bit noisy. When I would move, there was no mistaking it and my other three family members in my tent could hear it. Was it so loud they couldn't sleep? No. They mostly slept through it, but I noticed it and it was a sort of annoying. No one want's to sound like they're making balloon animals every time they turn over in their bed at night. Seems that the material could be further refined to return noise.

I haven’t take this out to the woods yet, tested at home. The rectangular shape is great for side sleepers, and it very comfortable. The pack size and weight is a bit on the bigger side, but I don’t mind it for camping and even short backpacking trips. For long trips I’d suggest checking it out in person first.

Bought the now discontinued mummy shape version of this to replace my ancient Thermorest 3/4 sleeping mat, which finally died.No regrets about its replacement, as compact and so comfortable. The inflation bag system is a boon and its high R rating makes it great for even the coldest nights I am ever likely to do in the desert or around central Victoria in winter, or Tassie in summer.Noise is not an issue, for me at least.Recommend the extra width of the standard one, so you have some arm room, but I am happy to shave off the extra weight with the one I have, just to save the extra weight in my pack.
