A very nice range of grit for almost any sharpening purpose. These are small and light enough to bring camping. Holding the knife blade at a consistent angle takes practice or another mechanical guide, but these are very effective and easy to use otherwise. They seem well made and are thick enough to not flex/deform when in use. The loop on the back is actually very useful to keep your fingers out of the way of the blade.

This was a good price for some good quality abrasives. the foldable ring tab on the back is convenient for keeping your fingers out of the way of the edges. It can be removed and the adhesive rolled off if you need it to fit in a wallet.

This Sharpal diamond coating is superior to others. No holes, no breakups, it wears into the coating eventually yet still works for a long time.

Great sharpening stones for small tools - perfect for woodworking chiselsI got these to see if they would work well for my shop as a cheap alternative to more expensive stones. I was pleasantly surprised with how well these worked. I took my 1" chisel that has been banged up from hitting nails while chopping out notches for roof trusses on a large cabin. I've been avoiding sharpening it thinking it would take forever. It took me about 15 minutes on these stones to get a blade sharp enough to shave thin, curly bits of white oak from 8/4 stock. After my success with the 1" I sharpened all my other chisels and am very happy with how they came out.I like the choice of grits with the fine being 600 and the extra fine being 1200 - great all purpose and makes for a ... MoreGreat sharpening stones for small tools - perfect for woodworking chiselsI got these to see if they would work well for my shop as a cheap alternative to more expensive stones. After my success with the 1" I sharpened all my other chisels and am very happy with how they came out.I like the choice of grits with the fine being 600 and the extra fine being 1200 - great all purpose and makes for a good progression while sharpening.I tried sharpening a small, 2" knife with mediocre results. I got good at a consistent angle on my other sharpening stone and it will likely take some time to get used to these. Once I get that down I believe I'll be able to get razor edges to my blades. The finger hole was actually pretty convenient when it came to knife sharpening and seems like it will be helpful when I go to sharpen my axes.I like the individual sleeves that come with the stones but wish they would be labeled with an imprinted stamp in to the leather. But that's just me being picky - I labeled mine with a sharpie, that way I don't have to pull the stone out to see which is whichFor those just getting into sharpening, you'll need some oil for doing knives and chisels. I use a light-weight honing oil that has given me good results over the years.

I got these for my cousin's hubby. He's a hunter, and I'm a beneficiary of his bounty. This past Thanksgiving they both lamented the dullness of their knives and were thinking about buying new. Why??? There is no reason to throw things away that are made new again for mere pennies! So, I gave these to B with the caveat he has to honestly tell me what he thinks. While delivering a nicely filled box of elk roasts and backstrap, he said they were AWESOME! Out in the field he was having trouble reducing the catch, but had stuck these in his bag because I insisted, and they didn't add a lot of weight. After toning his knife he said he was amazed at the difference! He admitted that it wasn't as good as sharpeners he has used in the past, but then the past sharpeners ... MoreI got these for my cousin's hubby. Having these handy on the fly, when you found out you needed your knives sharpened, he has nothing but praise.

I got these mainly for sharpening carbide router bits and other such things. The only thing that will cut carbide is diamond, and the only one of these that is suitable for that is the 1200. It is remarkably easy to do, find a video tutorial online. The coarsest of these is 325, suitable for sharpening an axe or a lawnmower blade. Use it where you might use a file. The 600 'stone' is good for everything in between - kitchen knives, scissors, etc. For a really sharp edge, finish with a few swipes on the 1200. While these are going to reside in the workshop, a set like this would be invaluable in the woods or out fishing, and is small enough to pack along, or just slip in a pocket.Diamond hones like this last a long time, but not forever. Although the diamonds don't abrade, they do fracture, and eventually become too small to be useful. These seem to have the diamonds well set in a thick layer of chrome, and the diamond coating is continuous, not sparse dots like so many cheaper tools. The back can be used as a signalling mirror in case you get lost while sharpening something. A fold-out handle on the back keeps your fingers away from sharp edges. The little leatherette sleeves are a nice touch.

The Sharpal Credit Card Size Diamond Sharpening Plates, consisting of a Coarse(320 grit) / Fine(600 grit) /Extra-Fine(1200 grit) diamond embedded adhesive metal plates, are great for sharpening my smaller wood chisels and dressing up some worn carbide tipped router bits with simply laying the plates down on my smooth workbench surface. The swing down handling ring on the back side allows me to hold the plate safely while achieving razor sharpness in some well used pocket knives! The grit surface cleans up easily and the included individual leather slid in cases store and protect each of the plates.

These are excellent sharpening tools that are designed well and are very handy. I have used them for sharpening kitchen knives and because the grit ranges from 320 to 600 to 1200 it’s easy to dress up a blade quickly. I usually start with the medium grit first to see where I need to go. If after a couple of passes I see some highs and lows that will need extra work I go to the 320 grit for a few passes then back to the 600 and when I get a good edge using that, I give it a couple of passes with the 1200 grit. The end result is a really sharp blade. It is easy to do with these tools as the grit number is on the back and the size and shape of the tools make them easy to work with.I also found these sharpening tools to be particularly good at sharpening pruning ... MoreThese are excellent sharpening tools that are designed well and are very handy. Their size and shape make it possible to not only sharpen the larger tools, but they are thin enough that I can sharpen even the smallest of our pruning tools too. They are also very flat so dressing up the flat side of a blade works particularly well. Now, it looks like I will probably have to purchase another set so I can have one dedicated to kitchen knives and this set in the shop for other blades and gardening tools. Because of their size and how nice they look, I won’t have any problem storing a set of them in the kitchen.

These credit card size diamond sharpening stones are exactly what I have been recently looking for. The three stones in coarse, fine and extra-fine grit did an excellent job restoring the edge to our two best kitchen knives. As time permits I plan to sharpen the rest of our straight edge knives and several edged and pointed tools. A plus, is the fact no honing oil is needed. There is also a built in ring grip on each stone to help protect your hands. In addition, an individual carrying pouch is included for each stone. I only wish there were instructions on how to correctly use the stones for sharpening, or a video to access showing the correct method to use for these small stones. See attached photographs.

This is the 3-pack of Sharpal diamond sharpening stones (see Photo 1). However, they’re not really “stones.” They are credit card size steel plates with a diamond surface. The set consists of a 325 grit, 600 grit, and 1200 grit plates. They have an interesting feature in that, on the back is a “ring grip” that pops out to make holding the plate easier (see Photo 2). Each one also comes with leather-looking storage pouch (see Photo 3). Unfortunately, once you put them in the pouches, you can’t tell which plate is which, so if this bothers you’re like it does me, you’ll wind up using a marker to label each pouch. My main use for these is for sharpening my carbide lathe tools. For this I don’t us the ring grip, but instead just rest the plate on my work bench and with one finger, rub the carbide blade around the plate (see Photo 4). Usually I just need to touch up the blade with the 600 grit plate, but if the blade is in bad shape, I use the 325 grit plate first, then progress to the 600. That’s as far as you want to go with carbide blades. I do use the 1200 grit plate when sharpening chisels to create a finely polished edge. Photo 5 shows the 600 grit plate after sharpening a carbide tip. The plate easily cleans up with a rag or paper towel, as shown in Photo 6.I’ve used the plates several times and they work well, and seem to be of high quality. The package doesn’t say anything about the warranty, but the Home Depot site says it has a 1 year warranty. And though it shows the USA flag on the package, it says it is “Designed and Engineered in USA, Manufactured to Sharpal quality standards.” It’s actually made in Shanghai, China.
