Shea moisture is an extremely trusted brand. I was excited to try the new line of aloe butter with vitamin B3. To start I have extremely dry hair, and I knew this product was exactly for me so I decided to give it a try. So I started off on my unwashed hair, applied around my edges and onto the rest of my hair generously. I left the product in for about an hour and a half and then proceeded to shampoo it out with the aloe butter, vitamin B3 scalp moisture shampoo. To say I was extremely happy is a complete understatement. Edit to add, there is a little bit of slip in this product but I wet my Felicia Leatherwood brush so that the water adds more slip. It’s about light to medium slippage. It’s still not something I would purchase. I left it in my hair to run errands for a few hours and it’s just okay. Let me start out by saying in 4A with high density medium textured hair. I’ve surprisingly got two uses out of this masque with another possible use. I don’t keep it on long since I detangle before shampooing andddd your hair needs to be wet to apply this. I usually jump in the shower to do my hair. I’m wondering if it would be any benefit of clarifying before or after use since I feel like the accompanying shampoo needs to be clarified off the scalp and hair on occasion. It’s too many unanswered questions for me due to the size and I can’t fully say I’d want to commit my money to find out.

This particular day my scalp was so itchy and irritated but the product felt soothing and calming as soon as I applied it to my scalp. It has a lotion like texture and that made it easy to smooth the pre wash mask thoroughly fro scalp to roots to ends. It felt really nice on my hair and softened it a great deal. After I rinsed my hair was absolutely silky soft and felt perfectly moisturized and hydrated. I appreciate that it has a light, fresh scent and the consistency is not as thin as other conditioners. The directions recommend leaving on for up to 30 minutes and to comb through the hair. I left it on for an hour along with a plastic cap to seal in some heat to make it penetrate even more. I also decided to wait to detangle at the end because I wanted to see just how manageable it made my hair. Because my hair is thick, one use took half the bottle. My only complaint is I wish the size of this product was bigger. It has Aloe Butter, Vitamin B3 and other great nutrients for your scalp and hair. I just cut my sons hair and he usually has very dry scalp as well. Its not bad it does what a pre-poo does. Slides into semi wet hair easily and helps detangle and moisturize. Only thing is its a lot thicker than any pre poo I’ve used before. I was skeptical about the size of the container also but actually it goes a long way ai can see myself using it an additional 6 or so times before it runs low. Im not sure if i would buy it again unless the price point is also there compared to looser prepoos but I think for my thick hajr it might actually be better because the product being thicker makes it so I waste less product that slips right out the hair and this one gives the product more time to seep into your strands. But that is likely from the way I was wearing clip ins and not so much from the product. I would recommend if you have thicker hair or dry hair and need a moisture infusion to try this product. Im still in the middle about it but I think it probably is the type of prepoo i need to be using instead.
