I put these on the bike I use to pull my kid in her bike trailer. The flat side is great for casual rides to the park and pool, just enough grip to keep a flip-flop from sliding off easily. The spd side is typical for what you'd expect from Shimano clips, solid connection with a bit of float and plenty of adjustment. The bearings spin smoothly but not too fast, it's very easy to stop them on the side you want. The weight between the two sides seems to be more balanced than the similar A530's from Shimano, and the flat side has much better grip

Good pedals, the wave pattern offers a good grip on one side and if you position your feet correctly it doesn't hurt your feet even on longer rides, comparing to pin pedals. The clip on side is adjustable and works well, it's also easy to flip the pedal of you are riding in the city with regular shoes.

These are great. If you get stopped on a really steep hill it can be impossible to get going again with normal, even two sided clipless pedals. You can jab your foot on these and because of the wide platform your foot will hold on them until you get to a place where you can actually clip in properly. Also useful when riding the bike with tennis shoes as you have a wide / stable platform. Shimano quality, ball bearing design and all metal, well made.

Works great and I have the option to upgrade to SPD shoes in the future. For the price these are a great buy.I scrapped the roads on some tight turns and the road did not even so match as scratched the pedals, These are built to last for sure. One of the concern I had while looking at the images on the website is that the pedals are UGLY! but they turned out just fine and infact added a nice aesthetic to my bicycle. One more concern I had was the contact foot area might turn out to be small when compared to other pedals "foot area", Even this concern was laid to rest after installation as my shoes snugly fit (UK Size 11) the given area.
Useful for a bike that is sometimes just ridden to the shops/pub but also on longer rides, when you might want to wear cleated shoes. Bearings wear very fast and can be sloppy within six months on a bike used for commuting. A special tool (TL-PD33) costing as much as the pedals is needed to service them, since they are designed so that the bearing cone is unreachable with a normal spanner. They are not as well sealed as other SPDs, and use a simple rubber ring around the axle which soon perishes; replacements are 2 each but you can put a stack of O-rings on there instead, which will last longer. If you're happy to throw them away every year and buy a new set OR buy the expensive tool, these are ok. They are nowhere near as good value, or as well made, as the normal SPD pedals like M520, which are cheaper, easily serviceable and better sealed. But if you want to wear flat shoes sometimes, these might be your best option.
These pedals allow you to either use plain shoes or shoes with spd cleats. The metal used in their construction is robust and a pair on my touring bike have done about 10,000km with the only issue being that the bearing now need a service which requires a special Shimano tool to tighten the lock nut for race/shaft.Cleats and a multi-language instructions were included with the pedals. There is a provision on the pedal for click in reflectors which are not included in the package. You will have to find you own source for reflectors. I used 4 from unused basic pedals.Remember to use some grease on the pedal thread when attaching them to the cranks so that the parts do not corrode together.
These pedals are sturdy and offer the flexibility of either being clipped in or not. Being clipped is useful but If you are riding in conditions where you need to put a foot down unexpectedly then it is good to not be clipped in - this may be mountain biking over steep rough terrain when the bike grinds to a sudden stop or on the road approaching a junction with late visibiliby to the left and right ie you get to the junction only to find approaching traffic forces an immediate stop. Also sometimes I jump on the bike to ride to the supermarket and dont want to change into bike gear ie I am wearing ordinary shoes.so again riding on the flat pedals is useful. Ive been wanting a pair of these pedals for over 5 years and so glad I found a 2nd hand pair on eBay. I commute 30+ miles a day in Greater London and The City and used to use pedals that clip in both sides. That meant I could only comfortably ride if wearing my clip-in shoes, which are quite heavy and stiff (I use MTB shoes). Now I can take trips on my bike in normal trainers or shoes and its changed everything! I feel like I dont want to use any other pedal now. Really comfortable on the flat side, with enough grip to feel secure and still easy to find the other side of the pedals when wearing my SPD shoes. I would recommend these pedals if you use SPD shoes for commuting or races but also use the same bike for more relaxed leisure riding. I have 2 pairs of these pedals and they have worked well. One pair was on a daily commuter and handled the snow and salt with no issues and I am _not_ kind to my commuter. I washed the bike a couple of times a year and applied a bit of oil to the pivot points and never had an issue. The seond pair is now on my fat bike that I ride on and off the trails on Nose hill. I try to stay clipped in but when the snow gets too thick I unclip and switch sides so I can bail quickly. Last winter I had a different clipped pedal on my bike and the metal tab that holds the "nose" of the cleat broke right off when I wiped out so I bought the Shimanoes and have no issues with them. They would get 5 stars if everything Shimano wasn't quiet so spendy.
first experience of clip less pedals. I was not sure how this would go and visions of falling off filled my thoughts. In practice it was totally unfounded. I put the pedals on and adjusted the tension to the lowest point, which was easy to do. this made the effort to unclip very easy. I found setting off with one foot clipped in worked well. the other foot clipped in effortlessly, if the pedal was on the other side it usually presented the correct side after a rotation. Still as a complete novice I spent 5 minutes with the bike in a turbo trainer just getting used to the action and feel of clipping in and out. After this I went out and did a 10 mile ride without incident. the cleats fit perfectly on my Scott shoes.
