Shimano PD-R9100 SPD-SL Dura-Ace Pedals
The new Dura Ace 9100 pedals are based on the fantastic 9000 version, a true masterpiece by Shimano. These lightweight pedals -just 228 grams- use a carbon body which is connected to a Nickel-CrMo axle. The base of the pedal has a special steel plate designed to protect the carbon body from wear by the cleat. The Dura Ace pedal uses an additional needle-bearing in conjunction with the regular cup-cone bearings. This allows the pedal to spin even more smoothly. Lightweight carbon The Shimano R9100 Carbon pedals are made from a durable and lightweight carbon composite. This is ideal for the weight weenies, who want the lightest possible pedal from Shimano. The shaft of these pedals is also hollow, for optimum weight savings. Durable, quality materials Shimano's Dura Ace pedals are made of carbon, which is of course weaker than other materials. To prevent your cleats from wearing down, Shimano has applied metal plates to the pressure points, so that your cleats wear out before your pedals do. After all, cleats are easier to replace! The shaft of these R9100 pedals is made of a hollow steel construction, in combination with Shimano's very smooth-running cup-cone bearings. A needle roller bearing has also been added in the housing, so that these pedals turn even more smoothly!

Really nice pedals. Used SPD-SLs for years and they don't disappoint. These do make the bike feel like an extention of me. Which is nice. Not sure if there is much difference between this and the Ultegra, I went for it for the ability to be slightly closer to the crank, they were on a deal and it was Christmas. In truth I am not nearly good enough to need Dura Ace.

After a recent Bike Fit I was advised my Time RXS pedals Q-factor not correct for my leg / pelvis and had to change pedals to bring out the Q-factor from cranks and recommended Shimano Dura Ace and went for the 4mm longer axle version to achieve a better Q-factor. The pedals are of exceptional build quality, ultra smooth triple bearings and very easy to adjust the cleat tension. The pedals come with standard Blue 2 degrees float cleats and plenty adequate for most cyclists' over the optional 6 degree yellow cleats available. The pedal / cleat platform gives you plenty of stability and Shimano have lowered the cleat to pedal spindle further from previous SPD versions. I would highly recommend the Dura Ace 9100 4mm longer pedals and the price was very good to match the exceptional high build quality.

I got these for an upcoming Gravel Race, and have been training on them and testing shoes. Now most would choose an MTB style pedal for Gravel riding, and I agree that is usually the right choice. But: one can save significant weight between road shoes and pedals, and the power transfer and feeling of all your power going into the bike with road pedals is fantastic. For this race I know I will not need to unclip anywhere, so the road set up is appropriate. What is there to say about the Dura Ace pedals? They are perfect, low stack height, low profile, lightweight, easy to clip into, adjustable tension works well, and the bearing system in Dura Ace is fantastic-I suspect even the smooth bearings of these are an advantage over many other pedals. Of course for Gravel ... MoreI got these for an upcoming Gravel Race, and have been training on them and testing shoes. Of course for Gravel the carbon/plastic body might get a little beat up, but they are road pedals and that is my choice, not Shimano's!I do wish we would see so more interesting choices in pedals and shoes for Gravel racing, so far the perfect set up does not exist, and I switch back and forth between the lighter MTB shoes and the single sided PD-ES600 pedals and the road set up, depending on the course and conditions.
I bought these for my new bike and pleased that I did. Previously had 105 pedals on my old bike but this new bike is fully carbon and deserved pedals that matched. Lightweight and lower profile than the 105 pedals. Work perfectly and were at a great price at Sigma!
Arrived quite fast, week or so.It has blue cleats inside. I wish they had the red cleats.Switched from the Ultegra 8000, they feel a bit lighter.I think the package should contain an O-ring, but it doesn't.Clicking to it feels good - tough and firm "click".Time will tell how durable these are...But in the meantime I highly recommended it.
Outstanding pedals! - Engagement, feel, adjustability, lightness, meaty platform to apply force, and incredible durability (known from past dura-ace pedals - still going strong 8 years later. Sounds slightly ridiculous, but noticeable improved quality over Ultegra, which is itself an outstanding pedal. If you ride a lot, DA is worth the extra IMO. Over time DA pays you back in spades.
My new Shimano R9100 pedals I've only ridden once since it's been very windy. But installing the new R9100 saved me 40 grams from my old Dura-Ace Road SPD pedals. I opted for the 4mm longer axle to stop the inside of my right show from hitting my crank. The R9100 felt lighter from the beginning when I started pedaling and I can feel the difference my pedaling power moves the bike quicker. It maybe pricey for some but the long term ownership of the R9100 will pay for itself.
Yes i bought the best. Yes i didnt have to. Yes i bunny hop my road bike and push the limits. But, its California and for some reason LA roads are crap. At any moment its full brake or full gas and over the obstacle.Why-Here is why. Im 5 11’ 194 - 187lbs normally. Heavier side of a roady for sure. I have used now Time (lasted a month. Yes i know i max out their weight rating) I have used Look keo max carbon and lasted 4 month before coming dangerously loose. So i went with the beefiest and nicest pedals i can find.Results.Non stop full gas fun. I have literally just given these pedals my all. Never EVER have i been more impressed and more in love. Smooth, silky, butter me up and add sprinkles cause i cant get enough.PS i run all SRAM but my Shimano pedals ... MoreYes i bought the best. Yes i didnt have to. They are truly the best you can buy for durability.PSS the cleats are WAY better for me to walk around in. Much more confidence off the bike even if those moments are short
