This is a beautiful reel! Not just in looks but in the way it performs, I must admit that sometimes you have to have the drag done up quite a bit to get the most out of it on bigger fish(depends on rod), but overall this is so smooth and I use mine from jigging lures, dropping baits down on a ledger rig and casting baits down a burley trail while straylining. I was very hesitant to spend my money on a reel this price, but I'm so glad I did. Is a jack of all trades and always comes out on the boat with me.

This is a solid reel. Top of the line mechanically. This reel is lightweight and has enough drag to handle most school sized fish . Great for Yellowtail and small/medium grade Tunas! Great for jigging or live bait. The reel casts smooth as butter. Won’t find a better price than at J&H!

Amazing reel, they say it's one of the best Shimano has ever made. I have had mine since they came out and it has caught some serious fish. Worth upgrading the drags to get a bit more out of it. Keep it serviced and it will last a long time!

Best In Class, Expensive Reel

Possibly the smoothest casting reel on the market. It also has excellent drag power. The TN14 is a small reel that is best suited for 30lb or less braid. I would think maybe even 10lb if using mono.

Cadillac of reels

This reel is among the best money can buy. Great drags, super strong frame and super light weight. The handle is very comfortable. The gear ratio is 6.2:1 making it possible to wind on a lot of line for every turn of the handle. I landed a 68 lb. white sea bass on this reel and it did just fine. Proof enough. It's expensive, but it should last the rest of your life.

Excited Husband

I brought this reel as a Christmas present for my husband just this pass December and he couldn't wait to put some brightly colored braid on it and try it out. He has the Calcutta that he has been using for years and he remarked that the Calcutta is smooth but that the Trinidad was like butter when he cast, so I'm guessing that I did a good job on Christmas! By the way, my husband has hooked into four oversized sturgeons, a stingray, two pikes and a lot of striper bass since since December 27 when he got the Trinidad braided and put it on his black steel seeker.

Great Reel

These reels are great. Whether you are bottom fishing or trolling they will fit the bill. The drags are buttery smooth so sails and kings are no issue and you can crank them down to dig grouper and snapper off the bottom.What really drew me to them is the line capacity. You can use it offshore and don't have to worry about getting spooled by an unexpected encounter.The other great thing about these is the weight. You can fish all day on the bottom or jigging and they wont wear you out.

Smooth and powerful

I paired this reel with Jigging World Medium Heavy Black Demon Conventional Rod, which turns out to be a perfect match. I owned a Shimano Tranx 401A which is perfect for jigging, but I found the Trinidad is much smoother and easier to reel in the fish from deep water.

Still my best star drag reel

I own 8 of these TN20A reels now. I use the for just about every application and bluefin tuna up to 150 lbs. These reels are absolute quality and a dream to work on. For those that cast conventional reels, this reel should be your among your top picks.

It was super hard for me to decide between Trinidad, Saltiga, and Okuma Macaira and I am so glad that I chose the right one.My TN16A is the smoothest reel I ever used so far.Wow!!
