Shimano XTR RT-MT900 160mm Ice-Tech Centerlock Disc Rotor
The Shimano RT-MT900 XTR disc rotor features Ice Tech technology, providing consistent braking performance through energy control. The stainless steel/alloy 3-layer sandwich construction manages heat while riding, allowing the clad steel/alloy/steel rotor to radiate heat quickly through the aluminum core. This results in a surface temperature drop of around 50 degrees Celsius. When used with Ice Tech pads, surface temperatures can drop from around 400 to 300 degrees Celsius, providing improved performance. The FREEZA rotors allow the alloy core to extend out from the braking surface as a fin, providing added cooling. Ice Tech rotors achieve long pad life, less noise, and less fade due to improved heat dispersion. The rotors are durable, lightweight, and rigid, using the Shimano Center Lock system for increased strength and security with an easy setup. The precision-cut braking surface improves pad clearing in muddy conditions and aids cooling under high load.

Never noisy, consistent braking performance and predictable wear. My only criticism is that they can warp and rub a bit when they get really hot, but that generally goes away after a few minutes when they cool back down.

I have been running ice rotors since they came out, and never had anything but good things to say about them. I always run XT, but I found the new version with the fins way too shiny for my taste, so I had to bite the bullet and upgrade to XTR, which are about $30 extra, for few grams lighter BUT black fins - I know, but I have to keep the ride looking good :-). Anyway outside of that, those are solid rotors, and I am sure they run bit cooler then the older version, but not noticeable to me. For some reason I like the old design better, cleaner look, but I am sure the black XTR will grow on me - the shiny XT has no chance though.

Like previous reviewers, I went with the XTR rotor on the road bike to upgrade my Ultegra rotors. The XTR rotors are around 20g lighter (rotational mass!) and look sooo much better. There's a reason why so many World Tour Teams opted for these rotors in the 2020 Tour de France ... I also suspect these handle cross winds better, as they have more ventilation and won't catch the wind as much.No brainer upgrade for the aesthetic and weight-conscious cyclist. Road, Gravel, MTB, etc.Brag to your friends about saving some GRAMS on that next group ride. You know you will.

These rotors are so good I was thinking about getting the XTs for a lesser price but decided to go with these and I made the right decision. The cooling fins work so well. Before these I had non fin rotors and after only a few laps at the park I could cook and egg on them. Now with these it takes more than double the runs to get them even close to that hot. And even if they are hot they still maintain the same braking power the whole time. Would totally recommend to anyone who is having overheating problems orsqueaky-brakeidis.
I got a great deal on two new XTR brake rotors from Backcountry. The first set were fantastic and lasted 3years, but I made the mistake of letting my pads wear out and the rotors ended up close to the wear limit. After a proper break-in, my new pads and rotors are quiet and have plenty of stopping power. Check those brakes regularly and look for Backcountry to give you a great deal on replacement parts.
I replaced some older XTR 160/140mm rotors on older XTR brakes, they run truer than the newest XT rotors, I had a new XT rotor that was so wavy it couldn't be aligned to run without rubbing. The holes in the rotor are larger than the older XTR rotors and under heavy braking the pulsing from the pads passing over the holes can be felt where that wasn't the case with the old IceTechs but that doesn't affect braking performance.
Premium rotorsdissipate heat noticeably brakes stay consistentbraking is like it should be. note I'm using 4 piston metal pads with fins also.
I bought a new bike with Ultegra Di2 and just didn’t like how the stock rotors looked so I upgraded to these and couldn’t be happier with them. Performance wise I couldn’t notice much of a difference in braking power between the two but they just complete the look of the bike, and if these rotors are good enough for mountain bikes they’re pretty much overkill for my road bike. I’ve logged about 150 miles so far and the stopping power really is impressive especially after upgrading from a bike with rim brakes, I weigh around 220lbs and have no trouble stopping with 160/140mm sizes. I’ve heard a bit of pad rub after a couple of hard stops at the end of descents but it goes away after a few seconds.
Great disk Completely overkill for UK cc races, but I'm off to Italy and Switzerland where cooling be ones a serious problem. There's disks solve that, they stop so well with organic pads and never get squealy hot.
