I've been a fan of Shimoda products for a few years now (I own 3 bags from them). The V3 Large DSLR core is exactly the same as the V2 core, except it is approximately 1 inch longer.The company offered this so people can now carry some super telephoto lenses attached to cameras inside the backpacks.While I don't do these, the extra inch of space gives me more options with my set up. The Action X series backpacks having the roll top design allows me to carry the same exact amount of personal gear in my pack even with a core unit taking up more space.

Love Shimoda bags and recently purchased the large DSLR core unit Version 3 after buying the Nikon 180-600mm. The lens fits very well (not too snug - just right) with Z9/Z8 attached in my Explore 35 Version 2 bag.Well done Shimoda!

It's a shame that it doesn't come with at least one divider that reaches from the top end to the low end. There's 3 dividers that reach each side width wise. I'm trying to pack the Sony 200-600mm lens (it's a pretty long lens) and keep thinking how a divider that reach entirely from top to bottom would be so useful. A missed opportunity in my opinion. I'm trying to make it work.Yes, you can just stick other dividers together but that is not as sturdy, which would be really nice for a lens that weighs nearly 5 pounds like this one.

With the Shimoda camera bag this kit oozes quality. The core unit is strong but the material is efficiently sized so that it doesnt take up much of the space - leaving most available for the actual camera kit. It is made of a high quality material and the fastening zipped cover keeps everything clean and prevents dust form entering the storage units.
The large unit certainly holds all my lenses and 2 full frame cameras. The only downside is the the Velcro insert dividers are very hard to manipulate and customize. The large wide angle lenses get stuck once they’re placed in their slots. But it certainly does not let things slide around which I have found in other bags.
