I'm still getting acquainted with this incredible lens but for what I have experienced with it is simply amazing. I have three different scenarios in mind for this lens and have only had the opportunity to shoot a few static landscape shots. If the skies ever decide to clear up, I am eager to see how well this works for astrophotography. My third thought of use is for low light wedding venues, i.e. churches. The quality is superb. You feel the quality the moment you first hold it. Once attached to the camera body, the lens takes control and delivers with all it has to offer. I am by no means a sophisticated photographer but wanted to up my game and went with this lens based on reviews and by fellow friends who run Sigma optics on their equipment. Mid range prices ... You get to choose two of three options when buying......., price, quality, and service. Between B&H and Sigma, B&H put up the Service and Price. Sigma delivered in Quality and Price for the lens. I highly recommend this lens but I shoot my own style and what I do may or may not be what you are looking for. Best of luck.

I use polarizer, neutral-density, and graduated neutral density filters all the time, so this was a must for me. I will say that this lens has truly outperformed its expectations and it's my main, go to lens. First thing first: it's incredibly sharp. Even at f/1.4, the sharpness is very impressive. It's barely a noticeable difference from being stopped down. I have spent many nights photographing the Milky Way with this lens and it is amazing every time. Since you can shoot at f/1.4, you can get excellent Milky Way shots at ISO 1600 or lower, which is fantastic because it means barely any noise. Even with a lens at f/2.8, you'd have to shoot at ISO 6400 to get the equivalent light in, assuming your shutter speed is the same. That's a huge difference. Regarding people's concerns about weather sealing on the Canon and no weather sealing on the Sigma: I honestly believe that even though Sigma doesn't advertise it as such, this lens is very well sealed. I have used it in the rain many times, including in a steady Oregon rain for hours, and never had even the slightest issue. Of course, you want to keep it as dry as you possibly can just in case, but this lens is tough. It's not going to let any water in for awhile. I've attached a couple of images of the Milky Way below, taken with this lens and my Canon 6D at 24mm, f/1.4, ISO 2500, 15 second exposure. Both images are completely unedited and the second image is a 100% crop so you can see how sharp it is, even at ISO 2500.

First impression is that the lens is heavy, with a good quality, solid mechanical build. Manual focus is smooth. Introducing a CLS-style clip-in filter ahead of the camera's sensor results in severe tangential astigmatism and slight chromatic aberration, and is not completely eliminated at f/2.8. So, for a clean image, clip-in filters should not be used with this lens. Still, under a dark sky and without a clip-in filter installed, this lens should perform at a high level, and is a good investment for the price.

When I first received this lens the end of Nov. 2017 I was originally very happy with the results. The pictures were sharp, but only if manually focusing. I was ok with that, but this week I was taking waterfall pictures in a heavy drizzle and the waterfall mist coming at me and I started getting haze in my pictures. The next day I noticed while cleaning the lens that the fog haze was inside the lens. After just getting off the phone with Sigma, I was informed that it MIGHT dry out by leaving it in the sun for a while and if it didnt go away it would have to be sent in. He then informed me that it would NOT be covered under warranty as this was considered PHYSICAL DAMAGE. I ask why it would be considered physical damage when it was a problem with THEIR ability to ... MoreWhen I first received this lens the end of Nov. 2017 I was originally very happy with the results. He then informed me that it would NOT be covered under warranty as this was considered PHYSICAL DAMAGE. I ask why it would be considered physical damage when it was a problem with THEIR ability to seal it for mist and light moisture. I then informed him that none of my NIKON lenses had EVER had that problem even when being in a downpour. If you are only going to use it for photography in non humid dry climate it will probably serve you well but never let a raindrop hit it. Looking back I would have bought the NIKON
Using this on my Lumix S1. This is a fast and bright lens. Even at f/1.4, the center sharpness is good and corners are perfectly acceptable for any lens with that wide an aperture. The optics are good and I have zero complaints on that. Autofocus is OK considering this is a Lumix contrast based system. The terrible thing is aperture control. When shooting video using an auto aperture, this lens will stair step as it opens and closes. It literally hard lands on each 1/3 or 1/2 stop. It does NOT ramp smoothly the way Sony or Panasonic L lenses do for video. This is unacceptable for a current lens today and Sigma needs to fix this with Panasonic ASAP via a firmware update.
Incredible lens - on my Lumix S5 for a day of wedding video coverage and I am stunned by the crispness, color and clarity of the video. This lens was on my S5 for about 75% of the day including the Ceremony, Toasts and First Dances. Focus spot on about 95% of the time - no problem tracking the Bride and Father all the way down the path and up to the front of the Ceremony area through changing lighting.Really impressed with the low-light capture. Never once did I use an alternate light source and filmed great clips - even the dancing, later on, outside at dusk.Only downside, and I mean only, is the weight and size - this is a big lens but for me the trade off for what I get into my S5 is totally worth it.This is my new "go to" lens for the bulk of my wedding ... A fantastic alternative to the pricey Canon L 24mm prime. Great build quality, great image quality. Shooting full frame, this is the perfect whole-room lens without stretching out the people at the edges of the frame too much. Great for wedding receptions when you want to be right in the middle of the dance floor!
This is my second art lens. I do photography and filmmaking equally so i pick glass that works for both. First i bought was the 50 1.4 for canon and i could not believe how sharp it was. Auto focus was great, little to no chromatic abberation, optics were spot on. The 24mm is just as good. Took some milky way photos this weekend and with the 1.4 aperture, I was able to get my iso down to 640 which is pretty amazing for astrophotography. On the 24, there was a decent amount of vinetting at 1.4 on my 5d3 but that's expected on full frame and easily fixable in post. THE ONLY thing I wish sigma would do with their Art glass is add the weather sealing O ring around the mount like canon does with their L series glass. Sigma is making glass that is as good or better than the canon counterparts at close to half the price. Not to mention with the sigma dock, you can fine tune these lenses for a fraction of the cost it would cost you to send your lenses and body in to canon to have each lens micro adjusted for AF performance to your body. Yeah you can do an in body af adjust but making the actualy af micro adjustments in lens is the best solution imho.
Was struggling on deciding which lens to purchase. Between a 20mm, 24-35mm and a 24mm for my landscape photography. After talking with B&H they helped me make the best choice lens to purchase for the type of photography I wanted to shoot. I could never be more happier with my choice. I have always gotten great advice and great products from B&H. I will continue to purchase products from B&H cause they never try to up sell you they only sell you what you need.
Based on my research of reviews of this lens, I was hoping it's as good as they say. This has been glued to my A7R III since received last week and it does not disappoint! I'm very happy with how quickly it autofocuses using animal eye autofocus even in low light indoor settings. That was my biggest concern. It's very sharp as expected from Sigma, the size and weight is surprisingly a fantastic balance on an A7R III. The construction is also what you'd expect from Sigma as is the focus ring. So far, I've yet to identify any weaknesses of the lens. I imagine the Sony GM 24 1.4 is possibly sharper and of course easier to handle but no way could I justify the near $600 additional cost.
