Best deal I ever received on a guitar

Best guitar packaging job I have ever seen. I was dealing guitars several years ago sand I received many guitars, but none were packaged like this one. I bought a demo model and so far I am very pleased with it. Nice looking red color. Doing my setup and just about have it dialed in to my liking. The neck is very nice also. Overall, a nice looking and great build for a guitar in this price range.

After all the online reviews, I was excited about this guitar . Ordered online and upon inspection, guitar had finish cracking on the base side of the neck where joins the body. Bridge was tilted back towards the tail piece, bridge inserts were not flush with the body, and some frets ends were sharp like they had been filed and had sharp fragments sticking up. Neck pickup seemed bright for a 335 style guitar. Returned and purchased a Epiphone ES 335 IG and very impressed with the build quality, sound, and playability.

I was curious about this guitar and the Epiphone inspired by Gibson ES 335. A guitar center 2 hours away had both in stock so i checked both out. Both seem well made but needed some fine adjusting. The Sire was fretting a little sharp on the D string on the first two frets, so a little notching of the nut is needed. We all have our preferances and 2 things on the Sire kept me from buying it. First the neck felt perfect on the first 5 frets then it kept getting wider and thicker to the point by the 12th fret it felt like a bat. I don't like big necks, just my preference. 2nd deal breaker was the neck pup sounded absolutely great but the bridge pup to me was lacking. I had the volume set at 5 on both and to switch from the neck to bridge there was a volume loss. I ...Ā MoreI was curious about this guitar and the Epiphone inspired by Gibson ES 335. I didn't buy the Epiphone either. I own a D'Angelico that competes with these and it's more suited to my ear and playing.

I cannot fault this wonderful guitar. It sounds, feels and plays beautifully. I’ve had other mid-priced 335 style guitars in my time, including a sheraton and an Ibanez Artcore. I have to say, for me, this blows away the competition. The neck especially is so comfortable and it didn’t take me long at all to get used to the narrow nut end…and my hands aren’t small. The guitar just sings and the pickups are beautifully balanced. They’re not too hot but have a very sweet top end. I don’t know why it’s mentioned in some reviews about the pickups being too bright - I haven’t found this and this can be easily dialled to suit anyway. The variable tones you can squeeze out of the guitar are excellent and it didn’t take me long to find some lovely bluesy sweet spots with ...Ā MoreI cannot fault this wonderful guitar. Once I put a new set of strings on, made a small adjustment at the bridge and spent a little time tuning up and bending the strings it was ā€œinā€. The tuning and intonation are super and I can’t put it down. It’s also quite nice to look at (I spent ages just staring at it before playing a note šŸ˜‚). This guitar is a keeper!

I am very impressed with this Sire Larry Carlton H7 model in Vintage Sunburst and even more so for the price! I own a Gibson Mermphis 2016, 1963 RI ES-335, a Gibson Nashville 2020, ES-345 and a 2019, Yamaha SA 2200 and this Sire H7 is right 'up there' with them in terms of build quality, playability and tone! OK, it doesn't sound quite as good as the Gibsons but they each have really nice, expensive pickups and the Sire pickups are maybe a little more generic sounding but still very good and I have no intention to swop them for anything else. The build quality isn't quite up to the standard of my Yamaha SA 2200 but that thing is built incredibly well and is of a much higher standard than even both of the Gibsons but the Sire is still a really well built guitar at ...Ā MoreI am very impressed with this Sire Larry Carlton H7 model in Vintage Sunburst and even more so for the price! The build quality isn't quite up to the standard of my Yamaha SA 2200 but that thing is built incredibly well and is of a much higher standard than even both of the Gibsons but the Sire is still a really well built guitar at any price. I read and watched a lot of reviews before buying the guitar and I read/heard concerns from people regarding minor issues with the likes of the taper of the pots and fingers becoming dirty after playing the guitar from whatever finish was left on the fretboard. I think that possibly these reviews were all from the very first batch of these models and I think that mine is from the 2nd batch and I can happily say that I had none of these issues, the taper of my pots were fine and any small residue left on the fretboard was soon gone after a quick bit of lemon oil to condition the fretboard. It's just a really great quality guitar at any price, especially rolled binding on the neck which makes it extremely comfortable to play! The nut is quite narrow at just 40mm so do be aware of this, I have quite small hands and so it suits me great but anyone with larger hands may possibly find it a little cramped. Anybody who has always wanted a Gibson ES-335 will probably save up or kill their granny for the insurance to get one, because 'Hey it's a Gibson!' but sometimes after all of the anticipation the experience can end-up being a bit 'Meh!' but that's another story for another day! LOL I would not have a problem using my Sire H7 in place of either of my Gibsons or my Yamaha, it really is that good and to put it into some perspective: My Yamaha SA-2200 cost half the price of my Gibson ES-335 & ES-345 and my Sire H7 cost one

Review of Sire Larry Carlton H7 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar in Cherry Sunburst
7 April 2023

The guitar itself is very impressive given the price. I own / have owned premium guitars from Collings, Gibson, Fender and Eastman. The Sire H7 holds its own against any of these brands and for a fraction of the price. The guitar came setup very well, I adjusted the action a little lower but that is personal preference. The intonation was almost perfect, just the low E string was slightly sharp at the 12 fret - a with a turn of the screw driver - presto - it was perfect. The guitar has excellent sustain and awesome tone. Just what I was looking for. I owned a Collings SoCo Deluxe and this compares quite favourably to it. I could buy five of these guitars for the price of the Collings. I am an enthusiast, not a professional musician. I highly recommend the Sire H7.

Don't get the wrong impression from my comments, I really like this guitar for the money it cost. I played several 335 copies in the under $1k range and the Sire was better to my ears. The volume controls lack some taper. Full on, 10 to 8 is most of the volume and you loose quite a bit of high end with the vol rolled off. Tone knobs are the other way as you don't get much reduction till you get down to 4 or so and then it happens pretty quick. I am finding it a little hard to control in a live situation, and hope I get used to it. If not an upgraded wiring harness is not out of the question given all the great things about this guitar. The Pickups are full and bright with woody lows. There was some weird staining on the neck edge binding. The fretboard has been stained black (which looks great) and the splatter is just too bad. I does not come off, it might have some finish sprayed over the top.
