Good oven so far and after one week of use it is working fine. However the top sheet metal cover was damaged and the associate holding screws had not been fitted as the sheet metal was deformed. Our electrician had to use some components from our old SMEG oven to complete the assembly before installing..looks like very poor QA at the factory!

It was a bit of a risk buying this oven sight unseen but it was one of very few that would fit my existing kitchen cabinetry. I have been very happy with my decision it is a wonderfully simple oven to operate, really well built and provides excellent reliable and consistent cooking. I would strongly recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to buy another Smeg oven in future. Also, not to mention how wonderful the Good Guys staff at Bayswater were in organising my order!

Replaced the older, similar, Smeg that will be handed down to one of children. That unit is 5yo and looks and feels brand new; it has never let us down. This is why we looked to Smeg for the upgrade. This unit has the Pyrolytic function along with the electronic temperature setting for the main oven--all very good when one in the family bakes to the letter of the law. It is shame the small oven didn't have the same electronic controls, but it isn't so important. The only other gripe would be the reversal of the small/main ovens vs our previous unit, I much prefer the small oven to be on top, but I am getting used to it. The telescopic should be standard on all ovens and with one set of partials included, we purchased more of the full (well 110%) to make life easier ... The Smeg 70cm oven fitted perfectly into the space my previous oven, a Miele was in--that was great. It is easy to use. HOWEVER the heating is uneven, the right side baking is less than the left,. For example , I put a tray of eggplant in, fan forced 220 degrees, and the left side is browned beautifully and the right, hardly coloured. The cool down after turning the oven off is very noisy.
Unfortunately our oven didn't work straight out of the box, we had an electrician test it who advised a dead short in the oven and that our circuit was OK. From there we waited a week for a technician to visit on site for repairs, after 1.5 hours he could not fix it and took it away with him. We waited another week to be advised they could not find no fault with the oven and that it was working. Nobody could explain the anomaly with their on site technician not being able to get it to work. Attempts were made to blame our electricity supply but luckily we had had this tested and confirmed OK. We waited a further week to get the oven back and re-installed. Given they could not advise what the fault was not confidant it will be trouble free moving forward. In ... Not a happy tale all-round.John
The oven came with blue film protecting the stainless steel panels. The electrician installing the oven could remove most of the film easily but the panel with the Smeg icon was a much thinner film and could only be removed with difficulty. However when it was removed it has left glue on the stainless steel. I have tried to remove it with Eucalyptus Oil, WD40, Olive Oil but cannot get it all off. This is the 4th Smeg oven/stove I have purchased and this is very disappointing because the door looks damaged. The door needs to be replaced. The oven was advertised with a bonus $159 Digital Mastercard but because Harvey Norman price matched with another company, they would not honour this offer.
Purchased to replace a fan forced 'classic' SMEG oven that was getting a bit old and tired. Whilst it looks very similar, the new oven is much better. It heats up very quickly, the controls are easier to use and the internal light is nice feature...the old oven didn't have one. I'm yet to use the pyrolytic function, which the old SMEG also lacked.
The oven was exactly as described and arrived the following day after ordering through Harvey Norman Rothwell. It was easy to install. There are a lot of cooking functions available and so far I am not disappointed with the purchase. Our pizza stone worked a treat and baking/roasting has all been on point. I haven’t used the cleaning function as yet however to date the Smeg oven has been exactly what we were looking for.
This brand new $2000+ oven only cooks on the left hand side. For example when baking a tray of potatoes, those on the left will bake and those on the right will be raw. Same with lasagne, croissants, presumably anything.Winning appliances arranged for a repair man to take a look, who said the oven was working as expected! He suggested I try using a different setting (I’d been using fan forced) and not cook anything on the lowest shelf as it blocks heat to the other shelves (the oven manual says the purpose of fan assisted cooking is to “achieve consistent cooking at different levels”). How is this a solution??!I’m now considering next steps to resolve the issue, including seeking a refund.
Honestly its not at all fun to use. why on earth do these manufacturers think that making high tech changes actually improves things. It doesn't. We only bought this as we needed to install a Smeg into the old space where there was a Smeg. Old oven, 1 click to turn oven on, 2nd click to set temperature..... this one.... All sorts of button pressing, displayed messages just to turn it on. You cant set timer for shorter than cooking time. If you do set for shorter, so you know when to baste or tun over or whatever, once timer goes off, the oven stops. Man oh man. And turning oven off...no, not one click but multiple button pressings, message displays...absolute waste of time.
