I got a good deal after combining vouchers, totaling up to 10% discount for this exclusive launch. The seller was very polite, informative and prompt in replying my queries via chat, even for warranty registration after purchase. They give you extra 3 months warranty 👍🏼They delivered my speaker earlier than planned...Good surprise 😃Use Sonos S2 Apps to set it up. It only takes minutes with easy to follow instructions. The speaker is very good (my personal opinion). It produces very clear & crisp sound and good balance of bass & treble. This also can be adjusted through Apps. I tried in various rooms and if you use the TruePlay, it produces consistent quality. I’m very happy with this purchase 👍🏼👍🏼

My wife also thought we could make better use of the space that was taken up by my large stereo system. So the Bose 601 series IV speakers, NAD stack, Dual 1229 turntable, and Teac CD player went into storage.I've listened to many songs through Amazon Music HD from my music era and think they sound great on the Fives. The Fives can certainly put out that type of power if that is your thing. I'm more interested in hearing the minor details and nuances within the music. The Fives do not disappoint in this area...especially after running Trueplay. Some recommended songs to highlight the Five's capabilities are: Guinnevere by Crosby, Stills & Nash; Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes by Paul Simon; Barcelona Nights by Ottmar Liebert; and Peel me a Grape by Diana Krall.I'm very happy with the Fives and will be adding additional components going forward. Next purchase will most likely be another Five and then upgrade the sound on my 65" Sony TV.Thank you Sonos for bringing high-quality music back into my life.

Great for wi-if streaming but limited off app usage
17 March 2023

The Sonus 5 sounds very good and is relatively easy to set up through yr wi-fi, and wi-fi is more reliable connection and arguably better fidelity than Bluetooth. On the other hand, if you use Apple as your streaming service, the app via Sonus loses some functionality, in terms of playing some of yr legacy tunes, viewing lyrics and certain recently played songs that you might otherwise want to save. You also can't listen to you tube music or any other audio that might be stored outside od steaming servicres-unless you use the line in plug on the back. This requires some back and forth fiddling w the Sonus app-but is doable EXCEPT there will beva latency issue. This won't matter for most users unless you would like to use the speaker to play yr midi or other musical instrument or any kind of live material because there is a delay between when you hit the note and actually hear it. This doesn't matter in the slightest for turntable or CD or streaming. It might be an issue if you intend to use the Sonus 5 for tv sound bar, but I haven't tried. I have been tempted to return this because of some of the issues I mention, but it sounds so good I am keeping it and finding other speakers for other needs. If you are just listening and streaming these are pretty great. I have listened to my turntable through it as well. The sound platform is comparable to my mid range stereo with less distortion on the low end but also muddier in the middle and maybe not as much separation between instrument sounds tho that might depend on the recording or speaker placement. I would give the speaker a five star for its sound at this price but knocked it down because not as versatile as I might hope

Great sound
29 December 2023

I have a few Sonos products, and the Five is the best sounding of them with deeper bass for fuller sounding music, but still good high end clarity for news, podcasts. Honestly if I'm playing multi-room with Ones and a Five, the Five almost fills the role of subwoofer in the group. This is my second Five (in separate rooms so using them independently in stereo mode rather than paired as separate channels). The sound / EQ does seem to wander a bit (as with all my Sonos products except the sound bar), but that could be the source. The Five has been more reliable to connect than the One SL's I have, though I do occasionally lose connectivity mid-stream from AIrPlay. Not sure if that's source or speaker. The speakers are heavy and well constructed - no buzz or boom. Great sound, ok app, no voice control
21 February 2023

Pros: Great sound - the function in the iPhone app to fine tune it for the space was great. Really like the integration with my own music library (from a standalone Mac Mini acting as a media server). Looks good (although feels a bit larger than I was expecting).Con: the app is… ok. I use Spotify, and using the Sonos app to find music instead of the native Spotify app is very poor in comparison, particularly browsing through playlists. It also doesn’t seem to play nicely with the Spotify app - if I start music playing in the Sonos app, it doesn’t show as playing in Spotify. If I control purely from Spotify it works ok, except the volume control doesn’t work very well, and obviously I can’t combine my own library or control radio from in there. I’d love to not use ... MorePros: Great sound - the function in the iPhone app to fine tune it for the space was great. I’d love to not use the Spotify app at all to control my music - but the Sonos app is just too basic and flawed. And for the price I’d expect voice control - like many of the cheaper Sonos models have. I’ve set up an Alexa near it to control it, but this is a bit hit-and-miss - integrated would be much better.Compared to the Amazon Echo it’s replacing, the sound quality is so much better, and the access to my local music library is something that was always lacking. But the software integration isn’t even in the same league. So not perfect - but if I have to compromise on anything, better to compromise on the app than the sound quality.Great, friendly, helpful service in Richer Sounds as always (Prestwich branch for a change - I usually go to Stockport) - thanks.

Outdated WiFi Support
28 July 2024

I really love the Sonos products but I'm bothered by the lack of support for current wifi standards. I'm in the tech business and have new wifi access points throughout my home. I just upgraded all my wireless access points to the 802.3ax standard, also known as wifi6 which was released in 2021. If you were to buy any respectable wireless system today (2024) it's probably a wifi6 access point. My Sonos Five and Amp only support the older 802.3b/g/n standards which are really old standards so the speakers can't connect to my new wifi unless I run Ethernet cables to each speaker.I don't think it's a stretch to expect current Sonos products to support current wifi standard. That said, I would buy more Sonos speakers in future.

Pure joy but may depend on your ears.

The Sonos Five is their top of the line speaker. Whats better than a single speaker? A pair. The stereo pair is amazing, but is also fine as a single speaker. Sound is different for everyone. You may not appreciate the five as much as say the new Era 300 depnding on your ears and music preferences. Or you may hot even be able to hear the difference. I have both, in pairs. To me, the difference is like comparing where you are hearing the music. The Five sounds like music in a theatre with wood and stone. The Era 300 sounds like music in a cafe with glass and maybe marble. They're both amzing but the spatial audio of the 300s really give the five a run for its money. The Era 300 sounds like music in a cafe with glass and maybe marble. They're both amzing but the spatial audio of the 300s really give the five a run for its money. For the lows, bass, I would say the Five wins. As with most things Sonos, you have to have the volume turned up to 45-50 to say now thats a good speaker. Of course anything over 60 your neighbor might be knocking on the wall if you happen to share a wall. The five is older tech, no doubt, so no bluetooth audio. The Sonos app is getting better with age but some services like Youtube Music is still a bit painful to find what you are wanting to hear. Other music services each have pluses and minuses while accessed via Sonos controller. HD music or lossless sounds amazing on either model. The reason i now have a pair of Sonos Fives is because i have opted to use the Era 300s as surrounds with the Arc sound bar on the tv. What you dont discover til after purchase is that once in this setup, the bluetooth direct stream from device is now inoperable. And using the 300s as a stero pair is also no longer an option unless you ungroup your surround setup and reconfigure back to a pair. Not impossible but time consuming whenever you want to play music the old fashion way in stero. So Sonos got more money from me just because of my need for simplicity.Could you save money and just do a couple Era 300s and be satified with your purchase? Absolutely. The Fives might be more appealing with their square appearance and 3.5mm aux input. Are other speakers better than Sonos? Yes. It's more about the ecosystem. Once you buy into it, you just keep expanding.

Pair of Sonos Fives in a larger size living room (post and beam). Fives are hung off beam 12' apart about 7' high. Angled down about 15 degrees but firing straight forward for best dispersion. Sonos Sub located on opposite side of room in a 4' x 4' corner space behind couch. Sub area has two reflective walls so there is no "muffling." Finally, balance the output so Play 3 have lower volume. Homemade roomful of sound without letting some "surround-sound" set up manage the balances. All controlled from the Sonos app on an iPhone. I have a NAD pre-amp plugged into one of the Fives. So, in addition to streaming (Spotify, Apple Music) I can listen to CDs and vinyl. Overall, I would say it sounds pretty good. I gave away BOSE 901s Series 6 (with equalizer) to "upgrade" to this setup. I'm happy with the change.
