Disclaimer: I upgraded from a Nikon D3300 with a decent 35mm Nikkor lens to the Sony a7III with this lens. I rented the 16-35mm GM and the 70-200mm GM and they were phenomenal. I was using them at a drift event, and they paired perfectly with my shot style. The 70-200 had the close up, crystal clear videos on the big bank, and the 16-35 had me completely covered for detail and beauty shots in the pits. These lenses were fast with the autofocus, quick to get used to and an absolute blast to shoot with. My only real complaint could be that my arm was hurting after a 10 hour day of shooting holding that 70-200 up at all times. I also rented a VND, it was my first time using one as I don't have a lens that I would normally need to use it with, but utilizing it on the 16-35 was so intuitive, it worked to perfection. The GM is also noted for having much better performance at 35mm (and just better across the entire zoom range really), which is an often used focal length for me, and all those reasons were more than enough to push over the edge to get the GM.I will say though that if you are considering only using this lens for landscapes in decent light, then the f/4 version may be a better fit for you. But if you want more versatility in a much more usable 35mm, the ability to do astrophotography/night landscapes, and a shallower depth of field that can make the GM more useful in more situations, then consider the GM, which actually only weighs 160g more

Headset is great on noise reduction. Easy setup but that's what's it falls apart. If you aren't using the headset for about 10 mins it disconnects. And if course, it becomes a chore to far it to reconnect. Didn't turning it off and on connects. Sometimes you have to do it multiple times. Sometimes you have to unplug the USB dongle and it might connect. It's a crapshoot. Perhaps if there was a way to prolong thebtime before is disconnects? Because it can't be for power because the headset stays on! But alas, there is no setting. I'll be returning this and seeing what's on Amazon.

Then we drank, feasted, and sailed on a beautiful sunny day.Liz and Rachael are ultimate “people” people and exceptionally skilled in their sailing craft. When you’re on the North Fork it would be well worth your time to take a sail with Captain Liz on Layla Sailing.And dad was the photographer so where did he go for a lens. Thankfully Sony has been increasing their professional lens optics line up available for their cameras with their G series and Sigma now offering some great options too.This was one of the reasons I never considered Sony before, because of the limited options for quality lenses that have higher end features like weather sealing and improved construction.My only two points are firstly, the lens does not change focal length internally but still relies on extending the barrel unlike the canon 16-35mm equivalent, which is a shame and could result in increased internal dust over time. The lens is well built and so I'm sure properly sealed for dust, it's just not ideal to be drawing air in and out. I you were to use this lens on a gimbal this is still something to note since as the lens extends with changes in focal length it may require rebalancing accordingly.The second thing I noticed is this is actually a 35-16mm lens where as you extend the barrel your focal length gets shorter/wider. Usually lenses start off wide and then 'zoom' in to their longest focal length. This lens starts, fully compressed, at 35mm. This is certainly not a deal breaker but another thing to be aware of just to get used to since its slightly strange to put the focal range backwards but again I suppose this must be related to its optical elements design construction.Overall very pleased with this lens.
Only owned this briefly so far, but from what I have tested so far it lives up to the expectations for a G Master series lens. AF has been quick, and precise. No focus hunting to speak of. I have yet to push limits, but so far no vignetting with 2 filters attached in a test at F4. This is a heavier lens when compared to what it replaced (Tamron 20mm), but the added weight is not burdensome. Overall it is a excellent quality lens that provides a good focal length range for wide scenary imaging
What an incredible lens this is - perfect for shooting landscape & real estate! This lens hardly ever came off my camera at one time. It was my favorite landscape lens for quite a while. It's so versatile in the field with such a perfect focal range. Shooting anything from grand vistas to getting up close and personal with a large subject. Nowadays I use prime lenses as much as I can, but in conditions when swapping lenses is not possible this is always on me. At f/2.8, your aperture is wide enough to get a good amount of light in making it useful for night photography too. I really like using this lens particularly when shooting waterfalls. It allows me to get in close while zoomed out, or stand back while zooming in.
