The turntable does a wonderful job at meeting all the basic needs of an average person. As a base entry model, it carries all the features you would expect plus a USB out. The record player can play both regular and small records, at both 45 and 33 Speed. The record player if a normal size and comes with a removable dust cover. This is an important feature that many lower tier models don't have, without this records can get dusty and damage can be done to both the needle and the player's components. The output on the Player is RCA only, you can hook it up to any receiver or older speaker, it is also easy to add an RCA to 3.5mm adapter to allow it to be plugged into an average speaker. I do think it would have been nice for the player to have a 3.5mm output, though ... MoreThe turntable does a wonderful job at meeting all the basic needs of an average person. It does do a good job of converting files, though it is not the simplest interface. It would also be nice if they offered it for mac. ***Be advised the Cartridge is not replaceable, though the needle is. ***

About a year ago I decided to get back Into Stereos and HIFI music components. In the 1980's I owned a very nice system which I actually gave away. So, I had to purchase all new components.Upon studying various specs and reading many public reviews, I choose this turntable. I was and am aware of its so called short comings, but I found the Sony PSLX300 fit my needs both musically and financially. The downforce and antiskip force's are factory set as the magnetic cartridge is fixed. And, the speed is manually adjustable via slots at the bottom of the table. These features makes this item very user friendly and an easy setup. It's spins vinyl accurately and the cartridge does a fine job picking up the sound. It has a nice sleek look; all black with a removable ... MoreAbout a year ago I decided to get back Into Stereos and HIFI music components. I purchased one and am very satisfied. This is a good turntable for a starter. But know that I'm the future, if you stick with this hobby you will probably be upgrading the needle if not the entire turntable.

I bought this the other day and would not recommend for USB recording and converting vinyl to digital. The sound level that comes through the PC is a low volume even when all settings are on maximum and I am having to amplify the track using my software once it is recorded. Indeed I had a nightmare getting any sound out of it, although to be fair this seems to be down to something in the connections not working properly which I think would be fair to blame on the product.Additionally there are two things I don't like about the unit. Certainly on all the turntables I even owned in the past there was some sort of permanent rest for the arm that could be locked into place to make sure that when being moved or not in use the arm would stay in place. Certainly on all the turntables I even owned in the past there was some sort of permanent rest for the arm that could be locked into place to make sure that when being moved or not in use the arm would stay in place. This is important in a USB when you are moving the turntable next to the PC and then storing away somewhere else on a regular basis. I also thought the stylus did not clip into place easily and I actually broke a stylus trying to get it to click in (hands up something I largely accept blame for that).I also felt the controls were not great or labelled well- fine if the turntable is up on a cabinet but not good when you have the turntable placed on the floor to connect to your PC- you are relying on usage and memory for what buttons do what. Was also very disappointed in Sony support when I was having trouble getting any sound on my PC. I spent 30 minutes with someone reading out suggestions from a script which is something I could have done on the internet and had tried anyway and they came up with some very silly suggestions like changing my PC speakers when the issue was sound coming into the software and not hearing sound on my speakers.I had considered asking for a refund but at the moment it is doing the job just about. I suspect that the good reviews it has are because it has a good sound when connected to a standard hi fi so if you are just using it for that you are probably fine.

Picked this up to archive my aging collection of LPs and it works reasonably well, but the included software is anything but plug & play so expect to do some homework on how to get the file output you want from it. The software filters for cleaning up the audio seem fine, but the track identifying process flat out doesn't work and there is no way from within the Vinyl recording tool to adjust the track limits prior to automatically creating the individual tracks. So far, the best way I've found is to let the tool do it's thing, but don't bother creating the tracks. Once the tool is closed you can then go back and adjust the "regions" (individual tracks) manually, highlight the regions and copy/paste them into a new instance, and then "save as" the file type you ... MorePicked this up to archive my aging collection of LPs and it works reasonably well, but the included software is anything but plug & play so expect to do some homework on how to get the file output you want from it. I've also been using foobar2000 to properly tag the individual files and then convert them from WAV to MP3 and Flac. Don't forget to go back and clean up the wav files afterwards otherwise you're going to fill up your HDD/SSD in short order. As far as the hardware goes.... I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of recording through the USB. It's not fully audiophile quality, but it seems to be outputting as well as the line out/in analog signal. Overall I'd recommend this to somebody who either knows their way around PC audio software, or who isn't afraid to learn. I'd have a hard time recommending it to somebody who expects the process to be as easy as ripping a CD.
This is a great basic turntable and a great value, especially if you can get it used in good condition. I had picked up a cheap Crosley turntable with a built in speaker that just didnt sound good, very thin sound. What an incredible difference listening to the same records on this turntable. This has some very nice extra features. It is fully automatic, and you can hook it up to a computer via the USB connection and turn your vinyl into digital files. I bought my turntable used and did not come with the software or the cable, but you can use free software like Audacity to do the job. Sure it is a little cheap and light and doesnt probably sound as good as a more expensive unit, but most will not notice this or need it. I have only had the deck for a week now and it plays my vinyl records and records them via the USB. It is easy to use even if you are not very good with the latest technology. I am still learning how to download the recordings and burn them on my computer. I have only used it for a few hours when I first connected it to my hi-fi. I am hoping to make some compilation CD,s of my favourite tracks and records to play on my hi-fi. I am so pleased that I have bought the turntable and that it is easy to plug the deck into my hi-fi using a jack adapter which I had to buy and it wasn't too expensive. My hi-fi is a SONY midi music system which was bought as a replacement for an old Sharp system which had a record deck and I am glad that I had kept my old vinyl records. I read all the reviews before buying this deck because I wanted something that was easy to use. It is a bigger than I thought it would be but it is well made and looks good as well. The price of the turntable was a lot cheaper than other places and it is suitable for my use as a person that just want to listen and enjoy hearing my records again.
Coming back to records after a couple of decades away, I wanted a deck that was user-friendly.This turntable avoids much of the user-error with a handy - and accurate - start-stop button which bypasses the potential for scratched records from a novice like myself!I also wanted a non-DJ style deck with a cover so if records were left on the turntable for any reason they would not get covered in dust. The Sony PSLX has a snug-fitting lid that keeps airborne grime well away. The sound has depth and clarity. However, there are a few technical issues. The light needle jumps at the merest hint of a blemish in the record surface and picks up a lot of crackle. The arm had to be adjusted as every time it was raised it hit the cover if that was down. Worst of all the auto-stop function did not stop the rotation of the wheel after the arm had been returned to its cradle. I found the flat metal start-stop mechanism was binding. I bent it slightly and it has worked perfectly ever since.
I purchased this turntable for its ability to download an LP onto a USB thus allowing me to keep a digital copy of all my vinyl records. I think it came with Audacity software (on CD-ROM) so it was perfect for the task. Plus, when all that was over (and during transfer) this device reproduced excellent quality sound from my vinyl records. A wise purchase.
Good Points: The sound it good. I love that I can just press a button and it starts playing automatically. It's user friendly as really easy to use. I was happy with the price I paid for the product I received.Improvement Points: I needed to plug the audio leads from the turntable into my Sony sound system and not a PC. I needed to do this through the audio input at the back but because of the leads attached to the turntable I needed to buy adapter cables to enable this in the first place. I think that the audio wires that are attached would be better if the turntable had sockets with removable cables and that given the type of cables an adapter was supplied when purchased. Unit is in excellent condition. Having the preamp on it helps a lot. It has a program for uploading vinyl to cds and/or my hard drive on my laptop.. Connecting it to my Sony unit just quantifies the incredible sound of the big bands. I have five Kenwood air suspension speakers one of which is the center. And to top it off it has an incredible sub woofer. Don't use it much on slow dancing though. This is the first time in many years that I have been able to have a sound system and believe me it was worth the wait. The only question I do have is do the tone arms come down fast with Sony turntables? Seems like it is pushing the needle up toward the cartridge and I didn't know if there was any adjustment settings for slowing the downtouch.
