This is a handy little Surform, ideal for rough jobs, fitting and fettling rather than for fine woodwork. It is easier to use "on the pull" than "on the push". It is a fairly inexpensive and functional tool, and saved me wasting time looking for my "proper" small plane.

I bought this Surform because I wanted a cheap solution for limited use on a project and wouldn't be a total waste if I threw it away. I am surprised at just how useful and easy to use it is. It takes a little time to become used to it but then you're away. It's just long enough to come right down on a straight line with care. It's as comfortable with coarse planing as it is with fine finishing ready for sanding. It's best used with a pulling action rather than pushing. I'm not throwing it away.

I used this for shaving of the sides of 100mm celotex insulation. I cut the boards slightly bigger than the rafter space and then used the surform to shave it down to a tight snug fit. Worked liked a charm though I will say one thing if using it for this... Wear a good dusk mask with googles as when shaving the board down it litterally looks likes its snowing and you really dont want to be breathing this stuff in. Overall did the job I wanted and I am happy. Mite try it on a couple doors I have catching too but not sure it will handle that. We will see :)

What a great little tool at an amazing price. I needed it to trim back some doors that were catching and it worked perfectly. Yes, you wouldn't use this if you were a carpenter, but for the odd little job it's perfect.
I used this to plane down some block filler pieces in my door carcass. Planes flush to the left and right sides. Didn't seem to do much at first but if you put some effort in and regularly empty it you would be surprised what a good finish you get.
I bought this a month ago. Every year when our garden gate held moisture it would swell. I didn’t want to take too much off - which I can do with a plane. This is the right tool to gently nibble the side off timber.
This is a small block plane, but it's mighty. It is very sharp and cuts through MDF and chipboard like a hot knife through butter. It's lightweight and feels kind of flimsy, but so far it hasn't let me down.My only gripe, and it's not the tool's fault, is that it's a "grater" style plane and not a single blade - dust control is my key concern is the broom cupboard I call a workshop, so a single blade option would have been ideal.It's a great little plane for those small levelling jobs, and highly recommended at the price point.

The Surform has been around for years, a cheap, basic, functional extra in the toolbox. It gets 3 stars because it's not 'amazing' or better 'than expected', it's exactly what I expected, so 'ok'. I use it for rough adjustments where I can't get access with a plane and it's fine for this. The finished surface is rough, so needs further finishing, as expected. It's no beauty in the toolbox, but stays out of sight. Buy it if this is 'ok, perhaps not if you're looking for something 'amazing'.
