Stihl MS 362 C-M 20" Bar Petrol Chainsaw 1140 200 0692 | GYC

I have a 13 year old MS362, which has been a great saw. However, last year it wouldn't start. The local Stihl dealer "fixed" it, twice, each time claiming it was a problem with bad gas. $100 each service. Turns out the electronic ignition module had failed - I diagnosed it. It took 5 tries for the dealer to get the correct module (wrong hole pattern, ignition lead too short, etc.) but after months out of service a new module fit properly and the saw has run flawlessly for the last year. Now the module has failed again. $138/module. I'm waiting for the part and hoping it is the right one. Stihl won't answer questions about the failure. I'm done with Stihl.

Purchased 6 months ago. This is one of the best saws for power vs. Weight ratio you can buy. This is the non m-tronic version and it starts and runs with absolutely no problems !!! If there is a problem starting or idleing you can make the adjustments. I have a 044 that I have had since 1998 and has and still runs like the day a purchased it.. Only spark plug changes.. The quality of this saw is the Best with not only metal clutch cover but also the flywheel cover as well ! The other name brands cannot say this even though they say they are professional saws ! The warranty is just as good as any of the name brands. All the pro saws are good. Make your choice ! Cracked chain break hand guard

We bought our Stihl MS362 chainsaw back in November 2021, this is our third Stihl chainsaw. After only using the new chainsaw a couple of times I noticed the “chain break hand guard” had a crack in it. I never dropped it or abused it, I always took care of my chainsaws and never had any problems with my two other Stihl chainsaws. Well I took it back to the dealer (only two weeks after purchase) and was told by the dealer it will not be covered by warranty. I would have to pay $40 for the hand guard plus labor. Since this is a safety feature of the chainsaw the dealer ordered me the part but it’s still on order since November and it’s January now. I ordered the same part from a different Stihl dealer and it’s still on order. Easy to start, basic matainence, 0 breakdowns!

Bought this saw new right before pandemic hit our area; and so glad I did! Was out of work from pandemic; so started a small, local business; clearing lots for new homes; thining out properties; cutting down and bucking up a lot of dead ash trees in my area! Started with this 362, 2nd year got my 500i; and been keeping busy ever since! These saws run every day and have had 0 problems with them of any kind! They keep me working; money coming in and the bills paid! Love them both; very happy with both my purchases!

Light, powerful chainsaw

Pretty new with the MS362C but so far I’m impressed. Purchased the saw with the “lite” 25 inch bar and the balance is great, reducing the effort needed to operate the saw. Plenty of power for large trees. With the magnesium body, it’s pretty light weight. Not significantly different from my MC250C. Highly recommend for anyone doing large amounts of wood cutting such as clearing land.

I am taking a moment to reflect on my. Stihl MS362C chainsaw. I purchased this saw in the summer of 2020. I don’t use it much however when I need to use it, I it to be reliable. That was one reason I bought the Stihl. I felt the Stihl was a quality chainsaw, compared to competitors. Also I have an older Stihl saw from the early 1980’s. I NEVER HAD ANY OILER ISSUES WITH this THIS SAW.WHAT IS THE ISSUE.Since this saw was first used the oiling system either gets clogged or fails to pump oil. The saw usually runs for less than thirty minutes before the oiler stops working or clogs. The last outing with the saw the oiler stopped and after a thorough cleaning did not work again.. Its a must since the oiler doesn't work.As much last this saw costs,I expect better! Unless this issue can be fixed I want a refund. Saw has less than 15 hours use due to its lack of reliability. Every time I use this saw the oiling system stops to work due to clogging. I've used the saw about 15-20 times. Each time the oiler clogs within 15-30 minutes of use.I have purchased many Stihl products over the years. The ms362c appears to be a lemon.

New Stihl MS 362 Chainsaw Impresses

I recently obtained a multi-acre plot of land that is a full-on forest, with a lot of downed trees. I figured I should get a light weight saw that can handle a lot of cutting. The MS 362 seems to fit that need. It has great power for a 59cc engine, and I plan to obtain a 25" bar to go along with the 20" that it came with. My friend has the farm boss, which he loves, but he was impressed that my saw had more power in a similar weight unit. Spring is fast approaching, and I can't wait to get back out there and start cutting.

Perfect saw for me

I’m a relative novice and could have purchased a 200-series saw but have a new home that is heated by an outdoor wood burner. This is a first for me and after reading the reviews, decided to try out the 362. I didn’t buy the C-model as I didn’t want to contend with any computer issues.First, this thing starts after the third pull (two choked, third starts). So far, it’s ripped through everything I’ve thrown at it. It’s a little heavier than I’d like and it’s loud. But it’s a chainsaw and I have hearing protection so that’s not a big deal. I’ve cut maple, pine, ash and some oak so far. Tore through it with no issues. I purchased the moto-mix to extend my warranty a year but have since switched to the Stihl oil and high test gasoline. Rocks when it runs. If you can start it....

When I finally cracked the case on my 1978 041 Farm Boss I bought this to replace it (and yes, I had the old Boss repaired...fortunately). Upsides--definitely a stronger, faster saw which really rocks with skip-tooth chain in the pine and aspen I typically cut. Lighter, and while the vibration on my old pre-AC 041 never bothered me, I'll admit the 362 is a whole lot nicer to hold all day. Downside: spent 5 hours helping neighbor clear dead trees and 1.5 hours of that was letting saw cool, fighting vapor lock and fighting to restart it. By the time you run a tank through it and then open the ridiculous locking gas cap, you'll find the gas is "boiling," and you'll find it darn hard to clean all the crud off the cap before opening it--thus getting debris in fuel (and ... MoreWhen I finally cracked the case on my 1978 041 Farm Boss I bought this to replace it (and yes, I had the old Boss repaired...fortunately). It was not flooding; pulled the plug three times and it was dry. Moving the choke from full to partial is tricky--the plastic cam gives little feel and has an indistinct detent, and with gloved hands its very easy to flip to full open when it ain't ready yet. Other than that, the fuel tank could use another 25% capacity. Anyway, I took i to the dealer yesterday who recommended using 91 octane to reduce vapor lock problems and tweaked it a tiny bit more rich. So we'll see, but in 60 some years of running small engines on a multitude of devices, I've never had so many issues with starting. No way in bleeping blue heck I'd use that thing on a fire. When I got home I grabbed the 041 to trim a couple rounds and it started on third pull after sitting two or three months. So I'll give it a bit more of a chance, but increasingly the odds are I'll get rid of it and go back to a saw that starts and runs. And I'll add this--I've little doubt that some of the design/reliability issue result from the idiot CARB restrictions and Sthil just has to live with those. But I shouldn't have to live with a thousand dollar saw that won't reliably start.

These products are slightly more expensive, and the investment pays off in power and performance;3. Take the cover off and clean this chainsaw well after each usage. The way the motor cover is constructed tends to result in sawdust mixed with residual oil buildup in the case;4. Keep the chain pretty tight and free of foreign materials. Otherwise it can get stuck in larger logs and stall;5. Do not store the chainsaw in a place that has temperatures below zero. If this is not avoidable always empty the oil and gas since it will otherwise leak out; and6. Keep this MS 362 on a yearly maintenance. We recommend taking it apart and giving the housing and engine a cleaning. Similar to other German companies such as Daimler, Stihl would really benefit from having a maintenance program for these high end products. While the electronics, for example for cold starting, seem robust, it would be great to have dealers that understand how to check the software and hardware in a regular service inspection.We particularly recommend this product for anyone interested in high performance and raw power. Put your earplugs in, chaps on, wear good boots and gloves, and a hard hat when using this product. The Stihl MS 362 CM is an orange colored workhorse that will make even the hardest knotty wood an easy task.
