Wife purchased this for a Christmas gift last December. Needless to say didn’t use it till this spring. We have approximately 4400sqft.Had one battery, only did about half the yard using the self propelled feature. Standard charger up to 3hrs to charge. Tom checked the batteries, tested great. Tom gave me a rapid charger. Still taking almost 2 hrs to mow the yard. Tom stated this mower should do 4700sqft. Not even close. Now to the product it self. I purchased this mower on or about six months ago and find it performs as well as expected however I have two issues. starting with disappointing battery life. I have roughly 12,000 sq ft to mow, to complete the job, i now have three very expensive batteries. Mor importantly, there is an ergonomically design issue. I have damaged nerve in both thumbs because of the poor design. The "rive bar" is fine but the bar to initiate the blade is too thin and positioned where it put pressure on the thumb nerves. I fear my damage is permanent. I recommend your design engineers take a serious look at this deficiency.

We bought this for our summer cottage which we visit infrequently during the season. It's great to have the batteries so no need to be sure gasoline is kept on hand. It's quieter, so no disturbance of the peaceful atmosphere. It's easy for my wife, who is at the cottage more than I, to start and handle. She likes that it doesn't kick sand out of the back like our old gas mower did. We can mow all we need to do with the 2 batteries (we bought 1 extra). Superb mower, great Stihl quality, very satisfied!

I bought an extra battery for this and am glad I did. Like our electric vehicles, battery usage varies greatly with mowing conditions. Well fertilized, watered, moss ridden, and less mowed lawns require more power than one battery can provide. I do help out others and don't have the time to wait for a single battery to recharge. I want to get it done and go on with my business. The mower feels solid. When it doesn't it's one of the handle locks unset. Easily fixed. It's also easy to adjust the deck heights with a single handle operation and you will likely be doing this frequently until you have your lawn under control. One problem I did run into was nicking the blade on stones and a PUD power pole anchor that wasn't marked. I attempted to buy a new blade while the dealership sent the nicked blade out to be sharpened. No replacement blade available. Fortunately, the dealership employee went ahead and sharpened the blade conditionally on following through with ordering the new blade from Stihl. This is not the heavy blade I was expecting. Its a special lightweight, highspeed blade. Given the potential 2-week order downtime, I'd recommend buying an extra blade along with the extra battery during the original purchase.
Used this mower about 4 times now. Easy to push. Cuts well. Adjustments are quick and easy. Grass catcher fits and works well. Battery has plenty of power for my lawn. Used about 50% of the battery to do 35 by 35 lawn. Lawn is medium thickness. The charger is intelligent so it shouldn't overcharge the battery. This mower has metal on most of the adjustments so they shouldn't wear out. The blade housing is metal. Most everything seems to be well thought out. I am impress with this unit but waiting to see how long it last, hence the 4 stars.

I like that the mower can carry an extra battery making it easy to switch to a fresh one during mowing. The RMA 460 is much lighter than my previous lead-acid battery mower, and it is easy to push and maneuver. I was a bit nervous about a battery powered lawn mower because I have always owned gas powered. I was also worried it wouldn’t be powerful enough, or last long enough to mow the lawn. None of those concerns have been a problem. I did but an extra battery because I didn’t want to run out of juice mid way through a mowing. There is plenty of power and the ak30 batteries last long enough for 3 mowings. I do have a small lawn though. I really like that it’s quiet and I can mow early without worrying about disturbing neighbors. I also like that I don’t have to mess around with gas or oil.
Great mower for the environment. This mower does not have the power to pick up most leaves. Could be the blade angle or something else, but would like to see some improvement in this. Should have bought the RMA 510. Also, the battery used to pop out of its holder when new. After a year of light duty, the battery must be pulled free. Old guy hands need to really work it loose at times. Pushes nicely, even with some uphill work. Nice unit overall.

There is a metal frame that the cloth bag mounts to. Unfortunately all of the metal framing is exposed on the inside of the bag and catches the clippings as you attempt to empty the bag. Maybe some plastic clips or sleeves that cover the metal frame and make a more secure connection to the cloth bag could do the trick.All in all VERY pleased with this mower. Plenty of power if we let our grass get a little too long, great eco mode option that keeps the battery running long enough to cut our entire yard on one charge. Great aesthetic design. Although it doesn’t seem too much quieter than a normal mower when you’re the one using it, the neighbors sometime ask if I’m sure my mower is working due to the lack of noise.
I finally made the switch to a battery powered mower this spring. I shopped the competition and Stihl had the best mix of build quality and price - I appreciate the steel mower deck and great ergonomics on the controls. Purchasing experience was excellent through my local authorized dealer - they were knowledgeable and helpful.Mower has been performing great, and the battery life is strong enough to mow my small lawn 3-4 times before recharging. The machine automatically adjusts blade speed based on resistance when cutting, which is a great feature.
