Outstanding dual overdrive pedal with lots of tone shaping options. I A/B’d this pedal with a couple of other dual channel overdrive pedals, the KingTone Duelist and a King of Tone clone, and it compared favorably. The tone it produced was very full bodied and warm, although it was perhaps a tad less transparent than the Duelist and the KoT clone. It stacks very nicely. I would be very happy with the Sunset on my board. Another outstanding pedal from Strymon.

Sounds like a Cheap Overdrive pedal. Couldn't dial in a ToneTone Knobs would make it sound more Flat and thin.My Wampler pedals are better sounding and were $100.00 less. Strymon does make some Great pedals though but, This one Nah!

The Sunset offers 2 separate channels with 6 different overdrive/boost settings and goes from mild tube-like overdrive to near fuzz sounds. The sound quality is very clear and punchy using my Les Paul Standard and a Fender Deluxe amp. I ended up playing for 2 hours and can't wait to play more -- always a good sign. The single tone control for each channel is slightly limiting in terms of tonal control but Strymon did a good job of keeping the tone in the sweet spot. The sound is full and easily cuts through the mix with the bright switch on the back. The different routing options also vary the tone noticeably, giving you more sonic options. Highly recommended!

The Strymon Sunset Dual Drive is not cheap by any means but it is without doubt the best pedal I have purchased. It took some time to dial in my preferred sounds but that is only because the Strymon gives you so many options. It sounds great, it's top mounted jacks are convenient and given all that it delivers it is very compact. A quality pedal and it is in my opinion well worth the money.
I've had many many Overdrives/Distortions and Fuzz pedals over many years. I can't believe how fantastic this pedal is (blowing away the pricey pedals I've had before). The first thing you notice is the clarity and dynamics from one end of the spectrum to the other. It was like I'd fitted new pickups on my guitar and bought a new super amp. The built in Noise gate is a fantastic and useful function. I bought the 'Mini footswitch' too which is handy. So in essence, I have 4 settings available at my feet straight away (A / B / A+B / Favourite). After some experimenting, you'll find you're favourite sounds. There's enough choice. Worth every single penny. Fantastic :)
This pedal can create an amazing array of distortion effects all while maintaining the integrity of the guitar sound. No digital fizz, and their “Texas” take on a tube screamer is awesome.
I have a lot of overdrive pedals, but have never seen one with so many features. And, most importantly, it sounds great, too. You can stack the two overdrives in different ways, and it sounds terrific stacked with other overdrive pedals, as well. NOTE: be sure to run it at at least 250 mA of 9v power.
This is awesome. It's got a ton of options that are all very different from each other. Anyone looking to expand their distortion options while keeping awesome sound should definitely consider this. I would recommend purchasing the additional/optional favorite switch to give yourself even more versatility - you can't go wrong.
