I did a heavy research on finding a lens that would be my go to lens for APS-C camera (Canon EOS 7D Mark II and Canon EOS 80D), with focus on low light capability and durability and image quality. All the L glass, 24-70, Sigma 24-70 and this Tamron SP 24-70 G2 were all sound, but unfortunately very few people reviewed this lens here, so I had to look and compare from different sources for reviews and what I found was few people who reviewed it were more happy with the lens than the rest. So I decided to buy it.Now My Review:I had this lens for the past few weeks and what I found was a lens that is well built, I've held L glasses but this looks like can hold its place for long, hence sounds like the build quality is really nice.Colors that comes out of this ... I know it's more of a personal preference and for me this lens hit the nail. The f/2.8 constant aperture is what I was looking for and the light that is allowed to pass through the apurture of this lens is superb.I came from only Canon glasses and I was afraiding trying anything else because of the focus ability, but I'm happy to say that, one area that I never felt like I was not holding Canon glass was the autofocus, this thing focus so fast both with DPAF (for video and live view for photos) and using viewfinder. The stabilization of this lens makes me looks like I'm always shooting at 1/160s while under really low light I simply go as low as 1/50s as long as my subject is not a person and doesn't move.I believe this lens overall is the best and I would recommend it to whoever wants to save some money but still wants the best lens.

I purchased this lens to be used on my Z6 camera (via FTZ adapter). Trying to save some money, I choose the used one, which B&H described as 9+ (very little or no wear) condition.Upon arriving I made a dozen of test shots and found all of them really noisy. The further investigation revealed the lens increases ISO almost twice. To separate the camera and adapter, I put everything on tripod, switch camera to full manual, then shot with Tamron, and Sigma 24-70/2.8 (F mount) lens (both with adapter). All photos taken with used Tamron were significantly darker. Looks like, for some unknown reason, used Tamron lens sends to camera wrong data about diaphragm opening.Unfortunately, the B&H response was offensively unfair. I have the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 lens & love it, had the older version & upgraded to latest version. I tried the previous generation of the 24-70 f2.8 & returned 2 copies because of focus problems. I thought the latest upgrade would be the answer but no such luck. It was ordered as soon as available & put on my Canon 80D. Out of the box focus was terrible, microadjustment improved it, took plus 20 at 70mm & plus 10 at 24mm. However, real life shooting is another matter. F2.8 is soft at best & sharp focus occurs about 30% of the time. Sharpness improves at smaller apertures but I bought this lens for the f2.8. Sharpness is also better at 70mm than at 24mm, but not equivalent to 70mm on the 70-200 lens. In a direct comparison with my Sigma 17-50 f2.8, the Sigma ... After 3 failed attempts, I am done with Tamron 24-70 lenses. Thank goodness for the return policy at B&H Photo, this lens will be going back today.

I've had this lens for six years now, and it has needed to be repaired three times now. The lens loses sharpness quickly if not in a studio setting on a tripod, and even after I paid to have Tamron service mine, the sharpness goes in and out. Recently, the inner glass focusing piece completely came lose inside the lens during a wedding, which I have never had happen to any lenses in my career. When I sent it in, Tamron refused to cover it under their warranty because they found shock damage, despite it not being dropped since 2020 when I paid for another service repair when it came off the camera mount (despite having clicked when it was put on). I've spent more on repairs than I paid for the lens initially in 2018. I've had better luck with the Sigma and Canon ... Recently I was asked to shoot a week of Vacation Bible School at my church. Many areas do not have enough light to shoot at a reasonable ISO. This lens helped tremendously even though I still had to clean up noise in post, but I did not have to lug a tripod up and down stairs all day! In decent light, this lens is phenomenal!
Great 24-70mm f2.8 lens. Very well made though it is heavier than many lenses. It certainly has a lot of glass and metal in it, not to mention the electronics. Has a button to turn on/off the VC (vibration compensation) and also one to switch from manual focus to autofocus. Also has a latch to lock the lens at 24mm. Takes very good shots. Also, it's weatherproofed.
I started off with a Tamron G2 70-200 f2.8 which is hands down one of the best lenses I ever owned. A fraction of the cost of Canon without sacrificing much at all.I used to be a Panasonic m43 user and then switched to BMD Pocket 4k cameras. I am using both the Tamron lenses on a Metabones Speedbooster and they work great. I now have moved on to first a Canon M6 mk2 and now a Canon R6 mainly for the really good EF lens adapting support. Both work wonderfully and while we wait for 3rd party lens support on the Canon RF mount we have some great affordable EF options out there like the Tamrons.
I bought it for a upcoming wedding job. I feel that the build is excellent and shoots very well. Very sharp images. That being said I noticed that when shooting I would unintentionally turn the VC off causing issues with my final product when I expected it to be on. Simple fix is to put tape over it o hold it on. I was noticed when using AF and trying to zoom in on my subject I would often turn the manual focus. An issues I haven't had with any other lens. Overall I feel it is an excellent buy and super sharp at a great price. However I am disappointed on the overall ergonomics and controls that I mentioned.
I wasn’t very sure if I should get this one or the Canon lens, after searching reviews for both, I decided to go for this one because the imagine stabilization, Honestly no the price because it wasn’t that much difference cause In Mexico we have Canon Academy and get very good discounts. But I shake the camera a lot, maybe because is heavy, so I don’t want blurry images.I dont have any focusing problems with this lens at all, like some people mentioned having it, it is sharp, I am loving it, just a have a few weeks using it. And Until now I haven’t use almost any other lens.I am not a professional photographer, I am an amateur just for your reference. I have been using this lens for studio portraits mostly and also some landscapes during traveling.I wish I could ... I bought this lens after learning a bit about the new ambition by Tamron and how they want to focus more in small details and build quality. After going through several reviews I ended up buying both 24-70mm f/2.8 G2 and 70-200mm f/2.8 G2 and they simply deliver. The image quality, color rendition and vibration compensation is phenomenon. There is one area I wanna put emphasis and that is the VC in this lens. This is because we know the Canon EF 24-70 mark I and mark II both do not have image stabilization so if you really care about the IS/VC then there is no comparison in that regard. I simply hand hold this camera for video work with no concern of shaky footage. This lens helps us shooting the whole getting ready session handheld with Canon 80D/7DII something ...
