Small enough to fit in your pocket and powered by a pair of AAA batteries, the Teenage Engineering PO-24 Pocket Operator Office Synthesizer features the sounds of office equipment with 16 punch-in effects including aliasing, overdrive, repeat, filters, distortion, glitches, and noise. The synthesizer parameters can be locked, while a 16-step sequencer, which holds 16 patterns in memory, can be chained into a song with up to 128 patterns. An integrated clock and alarm clock expand the creative possibilities of the instrument. A jam-sync function with 3.5mm audio in and out connections allows for multiple synthesizer units to be linked together. Using high-quality components with low-power consumption, the synthesizer is cleverly designed with a Silabs EFM 32 Gecko CPU, a Cirrus Logic DAC, and a Knowles speaker placed under a novel animated LCD on a single circuit board. A foldout stand makes it easier to play and rear panel speaker solder terminals allow you hook up the unit to a larger sound system. An optional tailor-made silicone pro case (sold separately) adds anti-slip feet, battery protection, and professional-feel buttons to this very unique music-making device.

The PO-24 is a great little "noisemaker". I am fond of using the line-out to use it in a recording or a DAW. The samples sound great, and it is easy to learn how to use. I do prefer other the other models of Teenage Engineering operators, but the Office is still a great choice. It may seem a little toyish, but it is very capable and very worth the price. I would suggest getting a case for it though, as I feel it may be a little fragile. I dropped it once and it was fine, but I definitely suggest the case. #sweepstakes

I already had a few POs, and wanted to see where it all started. This drum machine may be small, but it packs A LOT!The sound won't be clean hi-fi, but rather has some characterful dirt and grit. Despite being deceptively simple, it's quite usable, sound great and comes with interesting performance effects and features. For the price, you can't ask for more! But don't be fooled: it's not a toy, and can fit perfectly in a mix or in for your sample collection.

Whadya wan' for 60 euros? This. This lil' bee's sting right here. It'll stick a pointer up your b-ox and you will be able to set a bass line that kicks your genitalia--and everyone else's sexualised erotic neuronal pathways--like nobody's business. And ain't that what we want from music? Passion, pathos, tension/release, the whole bedroom in a box phenom, right? Yeah, if you want flowers light and breezy and clinique you can probably do that here, but if you want sex in every form from garbage to minima you would not do anybody any harm by bringing this boite with you at all times. It ain't gonna bites your breasts off like a Moog, but it will tickle your tiger in that bass chasing dog kinda way. You don't need the technical specs right? Am I right or am I right? Well this LSD driven danish dish is your death come to visit you with flowers. I know that's a bit strong, but how many machines are able to transcend the life-death barrier and come back and talk about it--or at least make a baseline out of it? You want life and death shenanigans you came to the right hole in the wall mr and missus.

Fun thing, useable but for me it will stay a gimmick that I will rarely go to for any serious production. Fun as a gift and I recommend keeping one in the bathroom to upgrade your toilet experience. Beet a newspaper or socials for sure.

Quirky pocket operator
20 January 2021

Of the 8 pocket operators I own, this one seems to be quirkiest little device. It was the least expensive one that I've purchased. Also it's probably the most limited in terms of conventional uses. It's kind of a drum machine but doesn't really have your typical drum sounds. Each of the 16 buttons has it's own sound, most are office sounds as advertised, with the addition of a couple melodic sounds. It would be a fun addition to other devices but not as useful as a stand alone unit. The effects is where you can really make these sounds shine. Great for use in industrial type music. If you are considering this, make sure to watch some videos so you can understand the uses and limitations of the device.

Omg this gadget is awesome. Seemingly limited, but those limitations force creativity and I feel like the possibilities are endless. Need to find a way of saving my masterpieces now. And of course will probably buy more pocket operators! Definitely worth the 50 bucks - it’s my most played with Christmas present for sure!

Very interesting, pleasantly surprised

PO-24 Office like all the other Pocket Operators Is a very simple to operate device that sounds good! There are plenty of YouTube videos to check out. Sound is great and effects are good. The 24 is the maybe odd one of the bunch but it was the most usable for my applications as a noise/ sound designer. The 24 is definitely in that noisy low-fi 8bit circuit bending feel, great for people who like to construct rhythms from unorthodox samples. The punch in effects are great and the way you implement them is perfect for creating textures. That said these devices are great to mess around with on their own or with other kit, but I would say that if your into just regular electronic music this is probably not your cup of tea, I bought this to use as a tool for design and ... MorePO-24 Office like all the other Pocket Operators Is a very simple to operate device that sounds good! It may seem a limited qerky piece of kit however once I've run it though a boss sp303 and into an MPC the possibilities are 10 fold! Build quality seems pretty good actually once you consider its just a circuit board with components stacked on. Could use a case but really the key action is probably better without the expensive add on case, I store mine in a nice thick sock I cut up works great! This is a long babbling review but really I dig the office I was actually in the process of making an office sound kit on the MPC when this came out. Quick notes, there is a power down feature but not a true shutdown function, 2 AA's were not included surprisingly but no biggy. From what I can tell you are locked into the 16 step sequencer no 12 step 3/4 hip hop etc. However you could get around this buy chaining 3 patterns together expanding the resolution and cranking the tempo up to 240bpm. I may buy More of these! Forget the cheap price and barebones appearance experiment outside the box and have fun that's what these are intended for, their only toys if you make them toys.

Mine was a returned item: so I got open box, the upper tab removed and a fat discount :-); other than that the unit functions perfectly.Pocket Operators are a lot of fun and I already got a cople. I am a guitar player and I use them to build small jam along tunes or, rarely, perform small live electronic sets for friends. Once you learn to use them, they are a simple and fast way to create music without relying to a computer (wich I am not a fan of). This one is really a powerful, probably the most powerful, pocket operator. It is also the most complicated to learn (but not by much) and it has great expressive possibilities. Just let me play with my new toy and shut up.
