The Outer worlds is nothing incredible. The plot is tired, the characters are boring, you can't meaningfully interact with virtually all characters and the combat/exploration of the game is repetitive from the first minute. But it is stable, gets all the mechanics to work fine and you are not unduly limited by the design of the game.Honestly, the experience is weirdly similar to modern MMO's. The maps are mostly empty with groups of NPCs just waiting at multiple points around it to provide you with something to attack. All NPC's for you to attack have no differences. They all have the same type of attack types and styles. No matter the faction or type. While the character stats are extensive, they don't really provide a different experience to the game.I truly ...Ā MoreThe Outer worlds is nothing incredible. Only hard fans of the genre will be truly happy here.

Fun gameplay, good writing, enjoyable characters.I'm just finishing up my first play through, and I took my time, so have hit about 37 hours this time through. I already know I want to change some of my skills & attributes for my next time through, and am looking forward to playing a different type of character. I've had several other games waiting to be played, but haven't been able to put this one down - and I'm really thinking of playing through again now rather than starting something else.Visually - the game looks very distinctive - it can't be mistaken for something else.Gameplay - while you might get tired of fighting the same types of enemies after a while - if you're trying to play through without killing anyone, it gives a pretty cool challenge. You can mod your weapons so they do more damage, have different effects, become really good for sniping or hitting things, etc. Really though - it's all about the story, and I've done a few things where I saved, made a choice, and then revised & chose differently - it's cool to see the outcomes from the choices you make affecting how your story goes. The characters in this game really are well done. There are a couple that I absolutely love - and don't want to disappoint, there are a few that I absolutely hated, but that I then learned more about & felt a bit different. It's cool because there's more to ALMOST everyone than meets the eye.If you want the best FPS - don't buy this. It's only good there. If you want something that's fun & rewards you for your play style - absolutely pick this game up.

Great game! For anyone who likes adventure games where you can search in every corner and find a little prize. Story is intriguing enough to keep attention, and weapons make you want to at least try them once.Multiple paths to the story makes it so no one will play the same way (unless they're trying to). Would recommend at least checking it out, and grabbing it if it's on sell.

This game is what I was actually waiting for for a long time. It has the details, universe and humor of the best Fallout and KotOR games. My only critic that once you beat the story, that's it. Despite of the multiple planets the maps are limited, not open, you may feel like you're heading from a start point to a finish point, with more stronger weapons and more dangerous enemies on a linear way. My character is a level 30 badass but no-one to fight with anymore. And I don't feel to start again the whole thing.
Loved the game, but also can't help but say I was a little disappointed, so here's pros & cons:PROS:- nice mood, lovely colors, interesting characters, cool universe;CONS:- too short, overall looks lazily designed, not a lot of effort put into details, location, made my "check-every-corner" intinct go numb because there wasn't much to actually really be surprised by;- did not like how it's never explained why I finish the game and I still haven't accessed all planets; I have to assume myself that those are reserved for DLCs but it's just disappointing.
I was looking for a good game to play on my Switch that I received for Christmas. The reviews for this one came up pretty good and it wasn't wrong. This is a good RPG game for both first timers or advanced players. You can choose difficulty settings if you were in there for the story or for the action. Open world concept that allows you to free roam all over the maps. My only complain, probably based on the switch, is that the load time can get long (a minute or two) when you load a new map (entering a new city, or entering a building). But that's not too bad as it will allow your eyes to get some rest. Got it on sale for boxing day, so really cannot beat the value !!
You are hand held on very linear quest set with waypoints pointing out every secret. I played twice to eval replay and making different choices does not have the impact you might expect. There are a total of 4 simple caves to explore in the game; that's it and don't expect any special rewards for opening heavily locked doors or chests. The same random selection of items is in EVERY container regardless of how secure it may be. Locations are void of secret places or items and there is really no need to explore every nook and cranny because it will only net you the same loot you find on corpses and containers. No real special weapons or armor to find (except the 5 science weapons via side quest) There are a lot of bugs - inventory icons are not properly refreshed and display false upgrade and repair status indicators - CAREFUL of what you delete. Sort by value and during mass sell or breakdown the cursor will magically pop to the upper left and you will breakdown or sell your most valued items accidentally. Corpses sometimes disappear and other times they show loot for a second then fail to highlight and show nothing on further attempts. There is no way to sort when you are trying to upgrade or outfit your shipmates so you have to hunt for the best items to upgrade or equip in a random sort that makes no sense. They boast 10 planets to explore but 3 of them you cannot travel to (huh?!?). Tons of other little nits to pick. In the end it is still fun but it is not challenging on normal difficulty and there is nothing here you have not seen before that wasn't done better elsewhere. This was a product that was not properly play tested and was rushed to market. It seemed very short to me as well. They have pretty much taken the fun out of exploration and loot hunting. Still I enjoyed the quests it to the tune of 3 stars.
This is a fantastic game. The common comparison is to Fallout but I think that's really just people drawing the line between it and Obsidian's last major title. This game is far more similar to the classic space RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.Conversations feel natural and well-structured, characters are compelling, varied, and have their own depth and personality that make them feel like real people. The story (at least to the point I've played) is fun and engaging with clever writing, head-scratching conundrums, and far more giggles than you'd expect.Gunplay is well-crafted, feels balanced and provides several types of weapon or damage to optimize your attack to each encounter.Graphics (on Xbox One X), while sometimes muddy on less-important or ...Ā MoreThis is a fantastic game. FPS is steady and smooth with few hiccups. All in all the only issues I've had center around a clunky, sometimes hard to understand menu system and controls limited by the platform. Three functions on X that can't be rebound is too many, I don't want to get my gun out every time I talk to somebody, change regions, or open doors. In conclusion : if a romp in space with new friends along the way and plenty of people to shoot, make peace with, or swindle along the way sounds like your kind of game - give this one a shot!
I really thought this game was going to be for me but I ended up struggling to finish it. I love sci fi and I love Fallout NV so mixing those two I thought would be a recipe for a great game. Everything feels so have baked with this one, I really expected them to try and shake up the formula but they rarely tried to. The game is plagued with a Marvel like ājoke every 5 minutes even at inappropriate timesā that really rubs me the wrong way. Itās okay to break up a series story with some lighthearted moments SPRINKLED in there but when thereās serious moments and the scene gets deflated because a character has to make some childish joke just ruins the scene for me. I donāt know, Iād much rather play any Fallout game than this and Iām definitely looking forward to ...Ā MoreI really thought this game was going to be for me but I ended up struggling to finish it. Note there is a patch in the works that may alleviate some of this when it comes out.The Outer Worlds on switch is easily the worst of the 4 versions. The textures and graphics are not great. Very blurry especially on handheld. Sometimes they do not even load in and we get the untextured objects. A lot of the objects have been removed to make it run better on switch but unfortunately to the extent thst it affects the atmosphere.Performance on the other hand is not bad at first but as you go along it gradually gets worse and you will be getting frequent frame drops. There are also pauses while playing while it loads. Sometimes thst does not happen and enemies just load in right in front of you.The game itself is a really good game but it is marred with the ...Ā MoreNote there is a patch in the works that may alleviate some of this when it comes out.The Outer Worlds on switch is easily the worst of the 4 versions. If you can you probably better off getting the PS4, Xbox One or PC version if you have access to those consoles. Though if you do not if you can look past these issues you can still have a good time but I would recommend the switch port of Witcher 3 over it.
