I recently came across the Therabody Smart Goggles and decided to give them a try. I’m familiar with other Therabody products, such as percussive massagers, but this is the first product made by them that I’ve owned. The smart goggles come in small packaging. A small protective cover and a usb-c type charger come with them. White is the only color that’s available now, so that protective cover will be important to help keep them clean. Like with all “smart” things, these are designed to work with the Therabody app. After a few minutes, and likely a firmware update, the smart goggles will be connected to your smartphone and you’ll be ready for your first experience. After a little bit with them, I must say I am thoroughly impressed with them. First, they are well built. Second, and more importantly, they do what they say they will. 15 minutes with the smart goggles on and you will feel totally relaxed. As you would guess, smart goggles go on your head and cover your eyes. Once turned on, they can apply a couple different levels of warming/heat, some pulsing/vibrations, and some pressure/massaging to melt away tension and stress. In the app, there are 3 different preset modes: smartrelax, focus, & sleep. There are also many guided sessions/routines that are different variations of the presets. They are also very portable, so you can take them anywhere you would want to enjoy them. My wife and I have both used these pretty regularly in the last week or so since I got them and we’re both enjoying them. My wife has headaches and she’s told me that 15 mins with the smart goggles do help to relieve them. My own use has been more about just taking 15 min breaks from anything else that may be going on in the day and just getting something we all probably need, relaxation. One more specific thing to mention that I have seen everytime I have used them, my heartrate is significantly lower after a 15 minute session than it was prior. You can see this data in the therabody app after a session using their smartsense technology, which utilizes a sensor on the smart goggles to make measurements. There doesn’t appear to be any tracking over time though in the app and I haven’t seen that they write data to other health related apps. The smart goggles are an excellent product and I can see how over time they will have a positive effect on managing stress, tension, & anxiety that we all live with to some degree.

The goggles are a great relief for those of us that suffer headaches on a frequent basis. The goggles are an amazing therapy method that provide relief thru the heat, vibration and for me particularly the massage aspect. The elastic band is very adjustable and i find a snug fit works best for the massage aspect so that the mechanism presses into my temples and provides a good stress massage. The heating aspect is suprisingly good, it heats up very quickly and there is a noticeable jump in the heat settings in between heat settings. The massage setting are for the most part pretty basic but the work performed on your temples does provide relief and it does get enough pressure to feel like a massage. The vibration aspect seemed to me to be the weakest part of the design, its just a basic vibration setting which makes more noise while operating as opposed to the relief it provides. Overall it is a very welcome addition for a stress headache or even right before, those that suffer from headaches can feel it brewing and i found these goggles help treat it before it kicks in and sometimes eliminates it from forming. I highly recommend it

This is an excellent relaxation gadget that has become a part of my daily routine, and I recommend trying it. Pros: - Easy to use - Comfortable to wear - Portable design - Three modes to choose from - Customizable heat and vibration - Good battery life Cons: - None ----- DETAILS ----- Design & Use: Therabody’s SmartGoggles are like a high-tech eye mask. They might look a little silly but you won’t care once you try them. More on the experience later. Using the SmartGoggles is simple. There are three buttons on the top, one for power and toggling through modes, one for toggling through vibrations, and another to toggle through heat levels. You just put the SmartGoggles on your head, adjust the strap as needed, and select your desired settings. There’s also a Therabody mobile app that integrates with the SmartGoggles and allows you to control the device from your phone, enhance the experience with sound therapy, and more. The shape of the SmartGoggles, as well as their adjustable strap, and soft leather-like material make them comfortable to wear. Battery life is generally about 150 minutes or about ten 15-minute sessions. To charge the SmartGoggles, plug the USB-C end of the included cable into the device and the USB-A end into a phone charger or computer. I like the portable, foldable design of the SmartGoggles and that Therabody included a soft protective case for them. The SmartGoggles have a smart design that couldn’t be simpler to use. Features & Performance: The Therabody SmartGoggles provide a combination of heat, vibration, and massage to relieve eye strain, release facial tension, or help you relax and sleep in the evening. I’ve put it to the test and can say it’s effective at doing all of that. If you have a headache, it’s an even more rejuvenating experience. My favorite mode, SmartRelax, is powered by Tharabody’s SmartSense Technology. Using its small heart rate sensor, the SmartGoggles recognize your heart rate from the pulse in your temple and the vibration pattern mimics it. This personalized vibration pattern is clinically designed to lower your heart rate, and it really works. In the Therabody app, you can see your heart rate at the start and end of a session. So far, all my sessions have resulted in a lower heart rate. I compared the Therabody heart rates to my smartwatch and saw similar results. If it’s midday, I like to use the second of the three modes called Focus. This mode primarily releases tension between your eyebrows and relieves eye strain. Though I do enjoy midday use of the SmartGoogles, I more often use the device before bed to help me wind down and sleep better. I like to use SmartRelax mode for a bit and then end with the last of the three modes, Sleep. To promote sleepiness, the Sleep mode gently massages your temples and delivers slow-wave vibration. If you happen to fall asleep (which is quite possible with how relaxing it is), the SmartGoggles turn off automatically after 15 minutes. In any of the three modes, you can toggle through a low, medium, or high heat, or turn the heat off. You can also modify the vibration intensity. With the three different modes as well as the customizable vibration and heat, you can tailor the experience to your liking. ----- WHAT’S IN THE BOX ----- 1 x SmartGoggles device 1 x Soft protective case 1 x USB-A to USB-C charging cable 1 x Instruction manual

With each session lasting about 15 minutes and depending on how much that you use them, the goggles will go several days without having to be recharged. I have used the goggles several times at the end of a long, hard day when I feel a tension headache coming on, and they do work well to relieve tension to prevent the onset of a headache or migraine. I would recommend the Therabody Smart Goggles for people that suffer from tension headaches. The goggles have definitely helped me with tension headache relief.

The good news is that I haven't had a single migraine since using the SmartGoggles more than a week ago. Whenever I felt like a headache might be coming on, I did a 15-minute session with the SmartGoggles, and I avoided the migraine. The SmartGoggles experience is so pleasant that I use the goggles every day, just to relax. My family members have also tried the SmartGoggles and they love the experience. The SmartGoggles' features are nothing short of amazing. You can choose from three modes—SmartRelax, Focus, and Sleep—that deliver gentle massaging pressure to the area around the eyes, area between the eyes, and the temples, respectively, while administering different combinations of heat and vibration. You can adjust the vibration patterns and heat levels at any point with buttons on the device. If you connect the goggles to the Therabody app through Bluetooth, you can select informative talks, guided meditations, and music with associated goggle settings while experiencing a treatment. The SmartGoggles monitor your heart rate to adjust the functions of the goggles, and the Therabody app records your heartrate so that you can see the decrease in HR from beginning to end of a session. Now, the one downside to the SmartGoggles: cryptic and inconsistent instructions for use. The goggles came with one of those extremely tiny (4.25"x2.5" 5-page) manuals with print so small you almost need a magnifying glass to read it. Instructions for powering on (with a long button-press) and toggling through the three modes (with a short-button press) are clear enough. Instructions for charging and cleaning are clear. But then comes some confusion. Although the three modes are described by the different combinations of massaging area, vibration, and heat, and Mode 3 (Sleep) is obvious, it isn't clear what the different purposes might be for Mode 1 (SmartRelax) and Mode 2 (Focus). SmartRelax "promotes relaxation" while Focus "is intended to relax the mind and aid focus." The difference between these two goals could be better described. Next, the instruction booklet contains a picture of the Mode toggle button and adjacent LEDs to indicate which mode is selection you have chosen, but it does not point to and label the three LEDs. You are meant to assume that the LEDs for Modes 1, 2, and 3 are laid out in that order from closest to farthest from the toggle button. There are three tiny icons that look like a human head, a target, and a crescent moon with cloud next to the LEDs that match those symbols in the booklet, so it was possible to verify the correspondence between LEDs and modes. Not so for the vibration and heat buttons, which do not appear in any diagram. If you squint hard enough, you can see three wavy lines on the vibration button and two wavy lines on the heat button that are meant to distinguish them. There is an LED next to the heat button to indicate heat level. Ultimately, I had to experiment to confirm which button controlled which function. There is also little explanation of the different vibration settings: "wave, breathing, and pulse" and why you might want to choose a particular setting. Again, you have to try them to experience the differences. The three heat settings are low, medium, and high. According to the booklet, you can turn vibration and heat off completely with a long press. What I found is that you can turn them off simply by continuing to toggle with a short press. The booklet contains on the "getting started" page a QR code that takes you to the Therabody get-started website. I strongly encourage you to follow the code to that site. It contains a short getting started video, but, more importantly, a link to a better user manual for the goggles. This PDF manual contains a diagram that clearly labels the vibration and heat buttons and further explains how toggling these buttons produces different effects in the three Modes. In SmartRelax, the vibration button toggles between Off and Pulse; in Focus Mode between Low, High, Off, and Wave; in Sleep Mode between High, Wave, Off, and Mode. The heat button toggles between all three levels and off in all Modes, but in different orders. The meanings of vibration settings Pulse and Wave are not described; you simply have to experience them to discover the difference. The "breathing" vibration setting in the printed booklet does not occur in the PDF user manual. I guess they changed the labels for a setting. The online PDF manual also instructs you to download the Therabody app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, something that is not mentioned in the manual that came with the goggles. I downloaded the Android app no problem. It is a general-purpose Therabody app meant to accompany all Therabody devices, not just the SmartGoggles, and its setup instructions ask a number of questions about your activities and goals in order to recommend exercises. It can also integrate with Google Fit and Strava if you choose, which I did. However, once I asked for the integration, I could not easily find a way to change it. My biggest hurdle was connecting the Therabody app to the SmartGoggles. Upon pressing the Bluetooth connect bar in the app, nothing happened; it just said retry. So I did, and still nothing happened. I searched for help on the Web and found nothing useful. I saw references to a Theramind app and I wondered if Therabody was the wrong app. But I could not find a Theramind app. So I contacted Therabody support, and they responded the next day, indicating that the Theramind app was within the Therabody app and was accessible once the SmartGoggles were connected to the Therabody app by Bluetooth. Because I had been unable to connect, I contacted Therabody support again, and I received a very thorough response on how to resolve the connection problem. Unfortunately, the procedure still did not work. I found that if I pressed the "Bluetooth connect" bar in the app multiple times, eventually the app searched for my goggles, but wouldn't connect. Finally, I reset my phone and tried again, and I was finally able to connect the app to the goggles. This brought up the Theramind options, which are great, and it was worth the trouble. But I hope this review will inspire Therabody to improve their instructions and help users who might be experiencing difficult connecting the SmartGoggles to Theramind within the Therabody app.
The Smart Goggles from Therabody have been an amazing addition to my daily routine. They provide a fast and easy experience to gain relief and have really helped me get better sleep. To begin, everything that you need is included in the box: Goggles, USB C Charging cable and Carrying Case. Upon opening, they can be immediately put to use. There are 3 button on the top of the Goggles: Power/Mode, Vibration Intensity, and Heat Intensity. The controls have been pretty intuitive. Hold to Power on, press to cycle between the 3 different modes, and press for higher/lower vibration and heat. Speaking of modes, the 3 built-in ones are Relax, Focus, and Sleep. They each run for 15 minutes and can be customized using the buttons. In my opinion, the Smart Goggles are exactly what I needed. They truly give me relief and allow me to sleep much better. Because they are so easy to use, I'm more inclined to use these daily. If I had to critique these in any way, it would be that if you are wearing these in a dark room, the red light from the hear rate sensor can get a bit annoying. Overall, I would highly recommend the Smart Goggles and am very happy using them.
When I first removed these goggles from their box my impression was “big and heavy.” I put them on feeling if I added “uncomfortable” I would have them pegged. After fully charging, I experimented with the three operating modes. Again, first impressions were mixed. Trying each Mode, my reactions ranged from my eyes are going be mashed, my face will be burned, I’ll get a worse headache, etc. The next day, ensuring I had the goggles on in a comfortable (important!) position, I tried again with each Mode running a complete cycle. By relaxing my body and opening my mind to the sensations, I liked what I was feeling and lost all concern of danger to my head. On the third day of use, I was a true believer in these goggles. By relaxing my body and opening my mind to the sensations, I liked what I was feeling and lost all concern of danger to my head. On the third day of use, I was a true believer in these goggles. The three Modes are similar in operation, but each provides a variable on the main theme of relief and relaxation. My favorite is Mode 1, which is the one I felt most uncomfortable with in the beginning. After lunch, it is siesta time, and these goggles are now an important part of the routine. After reading a little, I put them on, activate the recliner, fire up Mode 1 (SmartRelax), and close my eyes. The massaging action focusing on eyes, center forehead, and temples lulls me into blissful relaxation, resulting in a restful nap. These Therabody Smart Goggles are a winner in my opinion. Early on, I was thinking that it’s too bad you can’t read or watch TV or a movie while wearing these. Then, while in Mode 1, the answer came to me. It was a “duh” moment. So, if you are having trouble relaxing, even for a few minutes, I’d suggest you run, don’t walk, and get yourself a pair of these goggles. Even if you can relax, these could be an enhancement.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this device, but using it feels great, and definitely helps me to relax. Therabody SmartGoggles utilize a combination of vibration, pressure, and heat to stimulate the area around your eyes. It’s a very pleasant experience that feels like a facial massage. There are three preset modes (Sleep, Focus, and "SmartRelax"), which can each be used “as-is,” or customized to your personal preference by adjusting the vibration pattern and warmth level. I’ve mostly been using sleep mode (without any further customizations) at the end of the day to help me wind down before bed, and each time, I'm asleep before the 15-minute routine finishes. I’ve also been trying out the SmartRelax mode, which uses the built-in pulse sensor to sync the vibration pattern to my heart rate. It's also really enjoyable. The device is soft and comfortable to wear, even though it's a bit bulky. The elastic headband does a good job keeping it in place on my head without feeling too tight. The SmartGoggles fold down the middle and fit into their own carrying case, making them fairly portable. I have already brought them along for a work trip. I should note that Therabody calls these “goggles,” but I don’t really get why. The device looks a lot like a VR headset, but it’s best described as a mask. That’s not a bad thing, though. Soft material covering my eyes and blocking out most external light is just what I need when I’m trying to get into relaxation mode. Overall, I really like the Therabody SmartGoggles, and am already using them to fall asleep faster every night.
I've been using these for a week now and they are very relaxing. It took a little to get used to them, but the goggles themselves work very well. It can press firmly onto pressure points, there's a few basic settings, and you can adjust vibration and heat. It does exactly what it's supposed to. The app is pretty cool, too, but I think it could use some improvement. The goggles measure your heartbeat and I'm not sure what else, but it would be nice to see the data it collects. It's also kind of awkward that the app has some really cool meditations in it, but the goggles don't really feel set up for sound. The goggles are pretty big so I can't wear nice noise cancelling headphones while wearing the goggles; when the headset touches the goggles, it amplifies the sound ... MoreI've been using these for a week now and they are very relaxing. The goggles are pretty big so I can't wear nice noise cancelling headphones while wearing the goggles; when the headset touches the goggles, it amplifies the sound of the goggle's mechanism and it's really distracting. Also, the big strong elastic band would go right across my ears, so I angle the band over my ears and I can wear earbuds to hear the music or meditations. Also awkward -- you tap a button on the app to start the meditations. But the goggles cover your eyes. So you gotta hover over the button to tap it when you're ready. The way that I use it, the biggest problem with it is the elastic band is just in the way. Maybe it should have a headgear rig instead.
The smart goggle are a very SI-FI looking device which have a great build and excellent comfort, the inside area where your eyes sit is very soft and supple. The app integration is super easy , basically sign into you Therabody app and everything works. The smart goggles have 3 simple controls to help control the head/vibration and turning the goggles on and off, my only issue was at times with the power button. The power button doubles as a selection button for relax/recover/sleep profiles on the goggles and this didn’t always work perfectly. There tends to be a bit of a learning curve when selecting modes and actually turning on the device if you choose to use it without the app, now with the app everything seems to be seamless which I’m assuming everyone will be ... MoreThe smart goggle are a very SI-FI looking device which have a great build and excellent comfort, the inside area where your eyes sit is very soft and supple. There tends to be a bit of a learning curve when selecting modes and actually turning on the device if you choose to use it without the app, now with the app everything seems to be seamless which I’m assuming everyone will be using since the product does get over the air updates. After using the goggles I did notice that my eyes felt refreshed, the best way I can describe what that means is when you put on a brand new pair of contacts. Everything looked clearer and when using them during work breaks I noticed that it reduced/removed my dry eye issue with contacts. The massage portion and the heat function on the goggles are very nicely tuned, I never felt as if it was too much pressure/heat on any of the settings. The feel of the goggles and the strap tension has been perfected so to not cause any pain or annoyance to any user. The app integration is very nice and clean, it helps you select modes to cater to the type of massage/relaxation you want. While the app is really nice and intuitive I did have one major complaint with the product and that is sound integration. The speaker/sound/instructions being offered by the app, since the goggles have no speakers, is coming from the phone so you would have to use in ear headphones to fix this issue. For a first generation product the goggles do mostly everything right and make me wonder why no one else has really even considered caring for the muscles around our eyes. I would highly recommend to someone that works on a computer all day or has issues with dry eyes.
