This ND filter does just what you'd expect. It is uniform in its obscurity and has no blemishes. I did not test to be sure it is really .9, but it looks about right.

Bought this for my a6000 which is extremely over exposed when shooting a video. Works really well in bright conditions. Will be using it a lot for sure. The only problem I had was the threading. Maybe it's just the model I recieved or maybe it's the threading on my lens but putting it on isn't smooth. It has a grinding feel when twisting it on. However, all in all, this filter does its job.

Great filter, great price
Not much to say about the filter. It does what it's supposed to do. The threading fit perfectly on my a6500. The filter allowed me to shoot in daylight at a low f-stop (thereby producing a shallow dof).
These 40.5 neutral density filters go on several lightweight large format lenses which take 40.5 filters. They are used when backpacking with a very light wooden field camera and a lightweight carbon fiber tripod. The goal is to have a large format system which weighs less than 10 pounds including film/holders and accessories. Several 40.5 glass filters can equal the weight of just one larger glass filter. Weight, versatility, and durability are my keys to backpacking with 4x5. The neutral density filter gives you more control over exposure by allowing for slower shutter speeds which is useful in a variety of situations.
Provide more range to work with depth of field and light, with more possibilities to compose better pictures
The filter can be placed over the lens itself or over another filter (like the UV one I have). It does what it's supposed to do, I only wish I could adjust the ND level like in some other ND filters.
Bought this to work with my Sony 300mm. Won’t fit in the lens though. I think it’s more on Sony but sure would be nice if they designed it for the Sony as well. I could file the metal ring to get it to fit. But to many variables for that.
I purchased this for use with my Pentax 17 and as expected Tiffen quality is excellent.

The Tiffen Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is a solid ND filter with a 8x filter factor that provides a 3 stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters. 0.9 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required. Providing a 3 stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters. Plastic filter case for storage and transport. This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.
