TLD once again sets the standard of helmet technology with the Troy Lee Designs A2 Helmet. For all-mountain and enduro riders, the release of the Troy Lee A1 helmet presented the benchmark of what a helmet should be: extended coverage, smooth profile, a DH-inspired visor, and of course, tons of Troy Lee style. And yet, there was something amiss. Although cyclists raved about its comfort, it was an undeniably hot helmet, with a ventilation system that was easily overwhelmed on climbs and hot days. Plus, while almost every head could fit in an A1, the larger helmet sizes had an almost comically large profile. The result of years of analyzing problems and designing solutions, the Troy Lee Designs A2 helmet is everything you loved about the A1 but with better looks, ventilation, and fit. Loaded with up-to-date safety features, the A2 features a MIPS liner and a co-molded EPS and EPP foam liner. MIPS allegedly decreases rotational forces in a typical cycling impact up to 30%. Strategic placement of the two types of foam takes advantage of the different impact absorption properties of each. Amazingly, the A2 has 16% more foam in the frontal lobe impact areas, yet still maintains a much lower overall profile.
