We purchased our first Weber Kettle in the 70's. Weber kettles are the only brand of charcoal grill that we have ever owned.. Why? Because if cared for, they are durable, dependable, and adaptable. I can cook anything on my Weber, even my thanksgiving turkey in Chicago! We retired our original 18" grill for the larger 24" Silver grill with attached stainless steel cart. We purchased a few accessories, and we have been using this grill ever since. It is about 30 years old, and has been moved to three homes and four states. We do take care of it, including a once a year deep clean. We scrub the grill grates between meals, and we protect the whole grill from rain and mishaps. If you don't have a Weber, you don't know charcoal cooking at its best!

This was my first kettle, i used to user propane BBQ and normal non covered cheap charcoal. I was advised about this years ago but I went with the cheap open non covered charcoal and the High expensive propane (I was totally wrong, lesson learnt late). After trying the Weber kettle, it's a game changer for BBQ for me. I didn't use the propane since I got it (I didn't know that the cover will control the heat inside the dome as the propane one, but there's a learning curve for this), but once you know how to control the temperature inside and get what you want, I didn't use any of my old BBQ (I dontaned the normal charcoal).I had added some valuable accessories to it as I noticed this type is super versatile and can be used as Smoker (no need to purchase smoker), ... I already suspected based on other reviews, so I’m not mad nor did this affect my overall rating. But Lowes should update their product description because someone else will likely be disappointed. Also the wheel covers on mine are solid black as opposed to the grayish color in the pictures. So looks wise I think mine looks better than the old style.A bad thing: One of the nuts required to assemble the lid holding mechanism came with damaged threads. There were no extras supplied by Weber. So I had to make a trip to a hardware store to find a replacement nut in order to finish assembling the grill.Additionally, it turns out I don’t like the warming rack as it kind of gets in the way. It’s of good quality for those who need a warming rack, though. It just turns out I would’ve preferred a cheaper option that didn’t include the warming rack. Similarly, I would’ve preferred a cheaper option that didn’t include Weber’s silly GBS grill grate with the removable center. But I paid a premium despite not wanting those things because I really really REALLY wanted to attached lid bail system of the master touch. I appreciate being able to slide the lid away and to the side as opposed to lifting and hanging it. And the upgraded ash catcher is nice, too. I’d have done a premium if it had the nicer lid system.Ultimately, I probably should’ve just bought a much cheaper Jumbo Joe considering my needs. But there is no doubt the Master Touch is nicer.

I have a Weber genesis and decided to purchase a charcoal grill mostly for nostalgias sake. I’ve used it handful of times already and the grill itself is wonderful, however, Customer Service has fallen off dramatically since I bought my genesis about seven Years ago. I called and spoke to two separate people who didn’t even know what a charcoal basket was and were zero help, and I finally spoke to a third person who finally had a clue and he said that yes they were in fact supposed to come with charcoal baskets, and he would send them out right away. A week later I got a single charcoal basket…. It has been very frustrating. Weber has outsourced their customer service, Which was not the case years ago.
Bought from local Ace Hardware as a christmas present. Was missing the char basket and screw for handle. Called weber support and got sent replacements for both with no hassle except the char basket took a couple weeks and came a week late but was getting delivered during winter storm so no complaints there. Putting together the grill was definitely a bit of a hassle and some parts aren't screwed tight and it came with a warming rack which I don't really use so it's just collecting dust in the garage. Overall I think getting the original 22 inch is definitely more worth it than the master touch. For almost 300 dollars the quality wasn't really up to my expectations and the original is about half the price and can do what the master touch can do. If you grill ... If you grill everyday or something I guess this would be worth it for the ash catcher, char basket, and increased height but if you're a beginner or don't grill that much I would definitely recommend getting the original. Honestly the dome thermometer also is something I don't really look at so save the money and use it to buy an actual accurate thermometer for the ambient temp.Sorry for the rambling but TLDR save the money and just buy the original weber 22 and mod it
The grill is a great product. On the other hand the store where purchased was a terrible experience. While my wife was purchasing this grill someone else was shoplifting some power tools . The staff proceeded to accuse my wife of " conluding " with this shoplifter to I guess distract the staff. Even though we purchased the grill for over $300. Then looked up my phone number, I'm the husband which my wife purchased grill for my birthday, from our rewards card. Then called me at work the next day to accuse me of stealing power tools . I was at home taking care of our special needs child. . We called corporate about this issue and no response from them about this harassment. My fiance and I just moved into a new house and on this day I felt like grilling some chicken for our first meal in the house. I have my smoker and blackstone but I didn't have a regular grill yet. So I went to my phone to do a quick research on grills and I decided I wanted a charcoal grill. So after checking a few stores I went to the ace website. After looking I saw some cheaper webers I was gonna go with but then I saw the Weber 22 Master Touch grill in ocean blue. I watched a video about em and I decided to pull the trigger on this bad boy and I cannot tell you enough about how happy I am. The blue is really cool. And I'm very impressed with the functionality of this grill. I wanted this model because of the temp gauge on the lid. I set for pickup and when I arrived at my local ace I was surprised to see it was already assembled which I don't know if they come that way or the people at ace were just board and decided to build mine but I couldn't be more pleased with ace hardware these days and I will be looking forward to come back because I want the rotisserie for this puppy. I highly recommend this grill to anyone who wants a charcoal grill. Webers quality is incredible.
I had to return the Master-Touch because when it arrived, the lid was damaged. So, I had to buy an Original Kettle Premium instead because they don't carry the Master-Touch on the sales floor at Home Depot. In my opinion, the packaging is not nearly sufficient enough to allow for single item delivery. I'm sure it's just fine if it's on a pallet with a dozen other grills, but the rim of the lid rests way too close to the perimeter/edge of the box. All it takes is one mishandled drop of the box by a delivery person, and the lid is very easily damaged. And I am not suggesting adding Styrofoam to protect the lid; rather, the packaging should be redesigned so that the cardboard is more than sufficient. Again, I don't think this is an item that should be shipped ... MoreI had to return the Master-Touch because when it arrived, the lid was damaged. Due to the size of the box and the poor packaging, it makes for awkward handling by delivery people and could be easily dropped resulting in significant damage to the lid.
Not convinced the upgraded features are worth the money.I particularly don't appreciate the removable center section of the grill without any self locking feature. I wired mine in place with stainless wire. The fact that it falls out or must be handled separately when lighting and setting the grill in place after dumping the coals from a chimney starter is a hand burner. Bad design. The tilt up cover is OK but makes working the grill with standard restaurant tongs and the lid hinged up is another hand burner. The lid up reflects heat back to the cooking surface. The heavier grate material is a plus but I'm not sure it's different enough from the Original Premium kettle at $220. Same goes for the larger wheels. The ash catcher is a nice design improvement but it's ... I decided to "upgrade" our current 18" weber to the 22" Master touch.First off, that little 18" is ten years going strong and plans to be around for many more years so we have no plans to get rid of it.I gotta tell you, the 22" Master touch is a gorgeous grill. I purchased the additional rotisserie attachment and we enjoyed one of the best prime rib roasts we've ever had on Christmas day. The heat guard on the handle of the lid is a nice updrade and I love the grate with the option to add on different attachments like a griddle, wok, or grilling stone. We cant wait until the weather gets a little better as we are itching to start grilling again. Hubby is particularly wanting to try some ribs done on our new Weber so I will be looking forward to that.
