Amazing food, plus Weruva was so responsive to my concerns!

In pate products that contain sardines, the algae may be present…you just would not see it."

My cat has a food allergy (poultry) and the other is a picky eater. This and one other canned food by the same company are all they can agree on. For the price, you'd think they'd have a can that is easier to open. I usually need a spoon to lift the ring up. On top of that, sometimes I can't even pull the lid all the way off because it is bound so tight! For reference, I'm a pretty strong person with decent dexterity. I also don't want to use so much force that I fling stinky cat food all over my kitchen. But then, and this is the most time consuming part for me, the chunks of meat are unrealistically large. I can't imagine a cat actually eating them as is. So I have to spend another ten minutes chopping and mushing up the food so they'll actually be able to eat it. ... MoreMy cat has a food allergy (poultry) and the other is a picky eater. I'm happy they can agree on the food now, but I'm always looking for a replacement so that I'll have an easier experience.

This food has a lot of fish bones, and I realized my cat was rejecting because it not only upset his stomach, but hurt his mouth and throat. Now he’s associating his kibble that is usually mixed with wet as “bad.” My normally gluttonous cat is now wary of any food or treat I give him, he thinks I’m still going to offer him this awful food everytime feeding comes. Luckily Chewy refunded my money. But now I have to donate his Essence dry kibble because he refuses to eat it, since he associates it with this wet food. He absolutely LOVED that kibble before I introduced this Weruva canned food.Be wary of this wet food, and supervise your cat if you are feeding them the chunky fish parts. Or if you want to be safe, just pick it out and throw it out.

My cat now won’t eat anything else
14 September 2024

I put half of this can next to Michu’s Tuna in Salmon REVEAL. The first time, he ate both. Tonight, he left his REVEAL untouched.I do not have any more because I bought many brands TRYING to keep up with his ever changing menu snobbery. I just changed my auto ship to (3) cases of SALMON, and send it now. (Auto ship date moved up)I’ll still have to run out and buy 2 days worth.

Part of variety pack
25 September 2024

I got this as part of a variety pack and while my cat does enjoy eating it, something about it makes him throw up. At first I didn't attribute it to this flavor, but when I cycle through the other three flavors for him he's fine and whenever we get to this one, he throws up. I thought maybe the chunks of fish inside were too big, so I tried to mash them up more for him before serving, but it didn't matter. He always throws up this flavor. The other three he does much better with.

Real Fish, Real Food

My cat bros are two now and have been eating this along with a quarter of their meal with a chicken liver pate (by another good brand). I can’t change anything up bc of my Nickel with IBS. I feel like it’s boring but I can’t take the chance, if you get my drift. I’d be paying for it! But they both love this stuff! I love the fact that it’s chunky, like real food would be. If in the wild they wouldn’t have a blender to throw their fish in before eating (that was in response to other comments about being too chunky). I didn’t think this was worthy of taking away a star but, I have to agree with a couple comments about the lid being difficult to open. The “other brand’s” lid is easy. It has a small divot under the tab so it’s easy to get your finger under it to pull ... MoreMy cat bros are two now and have been eating this along with a quarter of their meal with a chicken liver pate (by another good brand). It has a small divot under the tab so it’s easy to get your finger under it to pull the tab up. For this can, I always have to grab a knife (convenient bc the knife block sets on the counter) to get up under the tab. I DO wish they would find a way to make that better. I can see though that if your cat has been eating a more smooth canned food for a long time they might stick their nose up at it. I would suggest adding just a little to their normal serving and work your way up. You may have already tried that though.

Real Food!
29 October 2023

My cat, Junie loves this flavor. What impressed me most when I opened the first can was that it had pieces of real fish (complete with skin and tiny bones) mixed in with the pate-like gravy. It looks like cat food you might make in your own kitchen! Real food, not processed little chunks of tan something or other. There is lots of moisture in it, too - great for kitties who don't drink much. I add a little filtered water and stir it up good, though. If you've ever had a cat who had urinary issues you understand why. I feel good offering this food to my little companion.

Something has changed - MOLD
5 May 2024

I have ordered Weruva for many years and always been happy with the price and quality. After this last batch, I will never order again. Like many other customers, many cans had very visible green mold in the food. My cat became really ill after eating this - even though I was throwing out the cans with mold (of course), and only trying to feed the ones that looked fine. I'm disappointed and worried about others feeding this to their animals. Would not recommend.

Very fishy!
6 July 2023

Weruva Cats in the Kitchen is a good quality food, the Chicken Frickazee flavor looks and smells like real chicken and this variety looks and smells like real fish, with visible chunks of sardines. Let me repeat - it smells REALLY fishy. But that seems to attract the cats.I was worried that they might not go for the big chunks, so the first time I served it to them I mashed it up a little, but they don't seem to have a problem with it. Overall, a good value and well received by my 4 furbabies. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the smell. But again... the cats like it!

my cats are not eating cat food anymore

I’ve been feeding one cat ground meat (Wagu) cooked medium rare. Only thing she’ll eat. She was licking sauce off pumpkin licking chicken and that stopped too. None of my cats are eating wet food. I’ve found it’s cheaper to freeze little balls of ground meat. At least I’m not throwing it away. It’s actually cheaper too. Come on pet food companies share how much mercury is in the food. And ash content too. Going broke throwing away cat food. No chicken unless organic. But mine only like meat. Someone needs to come up with mouse or chipmunk. (I watched my feral sniff fresh FF, run off my deck, came back w a chipmunk and ate it. I ended up throwing away the cat food to the raccoons. ) Anyone else ?
