A great product to have on hand. I never knew we could buy frozen onion. What a surprise and it was good and so convenient. I defrosted the onion in a small colander to make sure it's not watery and surprisingly, it wasn't. I caramelised half the packet of onions, poured it over the top of some marinaded chicken pieces in a Le Creuset Pot and baked it in the oven. The flavour came out as good as if I had chopped up my own onions. Glad no need to go through the tearingI'll still be buying and chopping onions but should the need arise for bulk onions, this is definitely the way to go at $2. 00 for 500 grams. And yea, all AustralianSaves time and tears

No caramelisation but very convenient. I had initially thought these would be okay only for casseroles but last night we had fajitas for dinner and I was feeling very tired (we've recently moved and are in the unpacking boxes stage). I decided to give these frozen onions a go. After browning the chicken, I added the frozen onion to the already hot fry pan and while they did not caramelise in any way, they did thaw out and soften nicely. In the final minutes, I added the capsicum, then when that was also soft, I added the chicken back into the pan to heat through. The final verdict - in fajitas at least, you couldn't tell the difference - so it was a winner. I'm not sure I'd use them on a BBQ as I like my onions golden to brown in colour but in a casserole or fajitas ... MoreNo caramelisation but very convenient. Genius time and space saver ! I feel soooo silly for never tried it before - and would never try if didn't get the sample. Now all my life has changed and I swear I will buy it always and forever!!!First of all, 500g pack cost like 1 kilo of brown onion - and we know, hom much goes to vaste while peeledSecondly, it takes 2-3 time less space than a pack from a greengrocerThirdly - no peel, no cuts - no mess, no tears. Hurray! The taste for defrosted is not perfect, so it wouldn't go to a fresh salad. But! For casserol or pan fry - you do not even need to defrost it. Another time saving, hurray! It pan fryes absolutely great, as all pieces are nice, even size and of great qualityAaand - as all the above was not enough - tastes great when cooked. Great to use in a hurry! I love onions, raw or cooked! However I have never purchased frozen onions as sometimes, certain frozen vegetables can be quite flavourless and watery. However in recent times, I have appreciated the convenience and nutrients of purchasing frozen vegetables - this is also a budget friendly option. I love to use frozen vegetables in soups. With this sample, I have sautéed these onions in a stir-fry and was pleasantly surprised that it not watery as I have remembered them to be. They are quick to cook, and I can see this being a convenient household staple for many families. I will never run out of fresh onions as I love them so much, but can appreciate this as a handy substitute in emergencies!

Quite watery once unfrozen. The unfrozen onion still had that nice onion taste and it was great that there was still some crunch it. I found it too watery after unfreezing which means I could not add fry them. They would be great for eating immediately only. Once unfrozen, if I added them to a salad or a sandwich for later the water would make everything else soggy. I feel that onions maybe should not be frozen however I can see that for some people or some situations it would be convenient to buy them. Having tried the sample, I will go back to buying fresh onions and chopping them myself but it's great to know that should I not be able to chop onions in the future this product will be there.

Convenient. Pretty good product. Who enjoys cutting up onions and it stinging and making you cry? No one really, and this totally saves you from that. So that is a plus. Very easy to find in the freezer department. The pieces are a good size, generally I prefer a bit smaller cut up, but it was still fine. I thought to try them first off, I would fry them up in some butter, with a bit of bacon, for breakfast. I wanted to see how they would taste, not cooked in a whole big dish. They came up quite nicely. I would say not as strong as fresh onions, but still really nice. I probably will buy again. Generally I’m not one for buying something pre cut up as it’s cheaper and fresher to do that myself, but these, well if you don’t get the stinging watering eyes, that’s a ... MoreConvenient. Better than expected. I'm always a little bit wary when it comes to frozen vegetable products - you just never know where it's country of origin may be until you take a close look at the packet. After a recent experience with frozen broccoli from Spain, I am most pleased to say that these are actually frozen Aussie onions!!I can see this product being quite convenient for those who really dislike chopping fresh onions, and think that the $2 price point is actually quite reasonable for this 'ready, prep, go' product. This frozen onion product retails at $4/kg in comparison to your fresh brown onions are around the $2. 50/kg mark. Application wise, it performs ok. All in all not a bad product if you are after the convenience of frozen.

New To Me. First up I didn't know you could buy frozen chopped onion. PositiveThen I thought what a great idea........ I could just hear my name being allocated to bring the onions for the bbq and me yelling back 'no worries' because I am not a fan of slicing up onions. $2 a pack........ not a big outlay....... this is for 500g....... and you get out of the slicing up jobcompared to........... fresh1 kg brown onions $2. 50..... which of course breaks down to 500g $1. 254 medium size onions weigh out to 500g (there's your cutting up job..... smelly hands, watering eyes and nearly slicing your fingers. The frozen use by date is September 2023 which is 2 years away. Final ThoughtIf you were having a bbq or going to one you would grab a couple of bags of these, but for everyday home cooking I am still going to cut up my stinky onions.

Goodbye swimming goggles. I don't generally have frozen vegetables at hand as I prefer fresh. Fresh seems tastier somehow. The price gap between pre-prepared and whole fruit/veges often seems a little high as well so I don't have much of that at hand either. But then I get a nice little Bunch offer (and who can say no to bunch offers), and I'm a convert!! The price for the convenience is reasonable to me considering I no longer have to stand in the kitchen with red eyes streaming, running outside occasionally just to evade the deadly onion juices. I no longer need to look like a maniac, wearing sunglasses, safety glasses, swimming goggles, or hazmat suits while frantically chopping away at the cursed onion. Convenient. I really like these onions. I like that they are so convenient and that it is a grown in Australia product. I did have a problem getting this product as they were at the very top and back of the freezer but luckily for me a much taller bloke was also getting frozen vegetables and was able to reach them for me. There were only 2 packets in the freezer so maybe that shows that they are popular. I used them to make pasties, in rissoles, in fritters and on a steak sandwich and the onions were good every time. The flavour is mild compared to most fresh onions but were especially good in the fritters, rissoles and pasties as they did not over power the other ingredients.
