It is often so easy to completely ruin a good knife or garden tool when sharpening them with the wrong sharpening tool. The Pivot Plus Knife Sharpener removes these errors and provides nearly error-proof sharpening for knives and tools. The Pivot Plus Knife Sharpener has two V-shaped slots that either gently or more aggressively remove material to sharpen each blade to precise sharpness. There is also a fold out diamond sharpening rod to sharpen larger garden tools and knives with serrations. The diamond rod is also useful for sharpening chainsaw teeth. The Pivot Plus Knife Sharpener is a handy, lightweight and small tool that can be easily carried in a pocket or stored in a toolbox. There is a small red "pivot-response lock" that the user is supposed to slide back and forth depending on which V-shaped slot is being used for sharpening. I have moved the lock back and forth, according to the directions, and cannot see that it makes any difference or movement within the V-shaped slots. Just my opinion, yet I'll keep following the directions and using the switch, even if it appears to do nothing essential. Excellent and well made sharpening tool. Small and easy to use and to store between uses.

Despite its small size, this sharpener gets a lot done. And when you think about it, most pull-through type sharpeners don't actually have large functional surfaces - most of the size is usually just the handle. This sharpener omits the handle for compactness, but the sharpening surfaces are normal sized. More importantly, they're well-engineered and made of good materials. The carbide surface is convex, which leads to faster sharpening and gives the knife edge a more durable shape (by leaving more material behind the edge, giving the edge greater resistance to wear). The ceramic hone cleans up any burr in a hurry, and helps keep knives sharp between grindings. And the diamond rod provides versatility for hard-to-sharpen items like fishhooks and serrated blades. I have a pivot plus knife sharpener made by Work Sharp Sharpeners. This is a pretty nice knife sharpener and it is ultra light. It is a fast and very easy way to sharpen any knife. Because it is so light and small it will easily fit wherever you wish to store it whether in a pocket, backpack, or toolbox. To give you an idea, the sharpener is about 0.75 x 3.50x 1.70 inches. There is even a lanyard hold included. The sharpener has a convex carbide that will quickly restore your knife to the sharpness it was when it was brand new. The sharpener has a pivot response that follows the curve of the blade, which makes it easier to use and allows you to control how much you remove when sharpening. I received a Work Sharp Pivot Plus Knife Sharpener to use and review. This is a very nicely made knife sharpener. It will sharpen metal, carbide, ceramic and diamond edge knives and tools. It also has a diamond tapered rod to sharpen serrations.I have an electric sharpener that does steel and carbide that will fix a damaged knife quickly, but it needs electricity. When in the field, out hunting or cutting timber, this is a handy tool. I took my very expensive hunting knife and sharpened it and fixed the bad edge in minutes with ease. I really like this little sharpener. It is small enough to carry but big enough to grab and hold while sharpening a knife or tool. My hunting knife is a half smooth blade and half serrated blade, which I can’t sharpen on the electric sharpener. The pivoting tapered diamond rod is a perfect answer to this problem. This sharpener is easy to use and well made. I see years of use out of this and the price is decent. It is three and a half inches long by two inches high and just under half and inch wide at the sharpener’s widest point. It has a hole for a lanyard, but I would never use it. I don’t like things around my neck when I’m out working or hunting.

I really like this sharpener. Although it doesn't give the knives a professional edge, it does an excellent job on knives used at home for everyday cooking. It will also sharpen scissors and serrated knives (a feature I really appreciate). It is well constructed, giving me the impression it will last a long time. It's small and lightweight, making it easy to use and store away. The rod used to sharpen serrated knives folds out of the way into the side of the sharpener keeping it out of the way when not in use. It seems to sharpen faster than most other sharpeners of this type. After you sharpen the knife, there is a ceramic sharpener next to the cutter. Personally, I think this is a great sharpener
Modern pocket sharpeners are all very similar, generally providing a pair of angled carbide sharpeners, and a pair of angled ceramic surfaces for honing the blade. Some also include a tapered rod for sharpening serrated blades. This pocket sharpener includes all three. The maker, Work Sharp, adds a feature they call "Pivot-Response" which is supposed to allow the sharpening blades to follow the curve of the blade when sharpening making it easier and more consistent. You can lock and unlock the "Pivot-Response" function. It did a good job touching up a blade in the field, which is what this sort of sharpener is really meant to do. These are not meant to be your only sharpener or to produce a perfectly honed blade -- on the other hand, if you are only going to have one sharpener, this is a good choice. It has everything you need to keep a decent working edge on your pocket knife, multi-tool blade, or kitchen knives. The Pivot Plus is the middle of the three size similar sharpeners that Work Sharp makes, and I would consider it the most useful. The larger one (Pivot Pro) provides a better grip with a protected hand grip more suitable for a kitchen drawer or tool box. The smaller one (Pivot) is just barely too large to put on your keyring along with your car and door keys, it fits nicely in a pocket but doesn't really provide a good grip to hold it when in use. The Pivot Plus is the Goldilocks of this line of sharpeners -- just the right size.

Convex-Carbides quickly restores knives to factory level sharpness. Pivot-Response follows the curve of the blade, making it easier and more consistent. One position allows for High material take off while the other setting is for low material take off. Put your knife blade in the Convex-Carbide slot and with medium pressure starting with the heel of the knife blade pull it though the slots until you get the results you’re looking for. Switch to the Ceramic hone slot to fine cut the blade using the same procedure as before. The diamond tapered rod can be used to sharpen serration and fine edge hand tools. This sharpener comes with a 3 year warranty.I tried using this sharpener on two pocket knives (pictured) and had little to no results in sharpening either blade. Using the Tapered Diamond rod was the only part of the sharpener that seemed to take any material off and put an edge back on the blade. I did some additional research by going to the demo website page and found that there are a number of different sharpener models based on the size of your knife you are trying to sharpen. I feel that this sharpener is used for larger and or thicker sized knife blades. For my use this sharpener did not do the job I was looking for but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good sharpener because again I feel that this may the wrong sharpener for my knives.
Great little sharpener combo that’s so light you might forget you have it with you. It has a regular convex sharpening port in the middle, and a convex ceramic honing port on the end, and a fold out diamond hone for scalloped edges. On the edge of the sharpener is a red button that locks or unlocks the ability of the sharpening parts to pivot and follow the blade cross section. Work Shop is known for their convex sharpening profile, which results in a sharping that last longer and leaves more bulk on the blade, which translates to more strength to the cutting edge, and (many say) results in a sharper blade. I absolutely have no negatives on this sharpener. But it is so small and light that you might wind up losing it if its not on a lanyard attached to you ... MoreGreat little sharpener combo that’s so light you might forget you have it with you. I keep it with my camping implements when in use, and on my person (on a lanyard) when I am out with any gear that requires sharpening.
