I was very excited when I received this knife. The quality seemed very good. Unfortunately when I had this at six months, it dropped on the floor and broke the blade. I can’t believe with as expensive as these knives are that it would break so easily it landed flat not on the blade, but flat, and just broke.

We have loved our Wusthof knives we received as a generous wedding gift for over 17 years. Several weeks ago a chunk of the handle on a smaller utility knife fell off without dropping or damaging it beforehand. Wusthof customer service was easy to reach and very understanding. They had us send in our knives and determined the handles had a problem covered by their lifetime warranty - and replaced them all with new knives!!! So yes, these knives might be more expensive than some, but I see it as an investment as their quality is exceptional and guaranteed for life, and good knives make cooking so much more enjoyable! We don’t use the paring knife as often as the chef, 5-inch serrated utility or bread knives, but when we do need it, it’s useful and sharp.

The most important thing I can tell someone who is considering buying a good knife is to go to the store and see how various knives feel in your hand. I initially bought a set of three Global knives. There is nothing wrong with them. They are beautiful and cut well. However, I took a knife skiils class and they used Wusthof chef knives. I loved the feel of the knife in my hand. I then tried the paring knife and serrated knife by Wusthof. Again, they were comfortable to use so I bought the three. Somehow I managed to lose the paring knife. I tried substituting the Global knife but it simply wasn't the same. I finally bought this knife to replace it and have been so happy since. I love to cook and using these knives are such a pleasure.

Went to JL&Ps in Kingston to look at kitchen knives. Was shown the range and given some useful recommendations. I ended up going for the Wusthof and it is a great product. Beautifully weighted and incredibly sharp (managed to cut myself within 30 mins of over-enthusiastic food prep.). I'll definitely be buying this brand again and using JL&Ps for the quality of service.
It's so novel for me to have a sharp paring knife. All of my paring knives are old and dull and cheap and not worth having...then there's this one...best investment ever.(Not just the paring knife...the entire set)
I had this knife as part of a whole set that I received in 1997. Somehow, our little beloved paring knife disappeared. I ordered this one to replace it. The new one does not cut as well as the 2 larger paring knives I have from the 1997 set that have never been sharpened. I actually mutilated an apple and switched to my older paring knives to finish cutting it up. I had very high expectations based on my old set ... not sure why this one doesn't hold up or even perform better...
This little knife is great for peeling apples! I use it almost every day! It’s my to go knife! Thank you for the great products! I have four different knives in the wooden block! Great gift for newlyweds!
You never realize how much you need a new knife till you get one. It performs like a dream. Slice the core right out of the tomato with no effort. Carrots, apples potatoes all a breeze with this little beauty. Thanks. Sue
Unlike Japanese knives, these Pro Elite X80 are heavy and thick bladed and more like a European knife design, but they will made for a good workhorse knives for the kitchen and being very sharp. However what I am very disappointed in, is the quality in the finishing of the handle, on all 3 knives the steel parts of the handles including the tang, is slightly raised from the triple rivetted wood composite handles, in other words not flush with the handles Which is a great shame, as the knives handles and cut well for a heavy bladed knife, the knives were on special offer when I purchased them, making them good value.
I purchased the knife as a present for friends who love to cook and recently became engaged. They live overseas in New Zealand and received the gift in very good time and have been thrilled with it. I would use everten again in the future.
