Upgrading from a 3080FE, and this card has got me where I wanted to be, a solid 144fps on my 3840x1600 monitor in pretty much everything. This AIB card has 3x8pin power connections and a massive heatsink which allows it to OC very well, thermals are never a problem as long as it has room to breath.Some things to note:Linux users - this card works well, BUT you need mesa 22.3+ and llvm 15+, as well as the latest firmware from the kernel git repo. As of this review, that means it won't work ootb on pretty much any distro. I updated an existing Arch install using nomodeset and 3 to boot to the shell and install the needful. I was kinda sceptical of buying AMD GPU again as I owned Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700XT for 4 years and it had 110°C junction temperature which forced the fans to run at 100% and it sounded like jet aircraft. Ironically is just slightly smaller than Merc 310 so it was weird to have such temperature normal temperature didnt go above 72°CMerc 310 hits maximum 64°C and the junction temperature hits 84°C maximum its like 30°C outside so is very hot. Other than that it also has another problem but its not a problem with the GPU it self but with the drivers where if you have 2 monitors with high refresh rate I have 2x 27 QHD 170Hz165Hz, the Power Usage on Idle is 95-110W and your VRAM is stuck at the value you have set it to which for me is 2700 MHz When you set a specific Value to your VRAM, last Value will be the Value you have set -14 MHz, thats why its set to 2714 MHz. At the moment the only way to fix the idle power usage is to set your both monitors to 60 Hz which I guess I will survive with 100W on idle.

I think the new batches coming out are fine with recent drops.Rock stable and running nice and cool. Tested with furmark and oc +15% and all the games. Even OC temps barely hit 90c on junction with custom fan profile to run below 2000rpm, which is near silent.Love the size and performance. But with 70% fan, temps are well under control in the 60-64C range for edge temps and 80C hot spot after extended gaming sessions.With dropping the voltage to 1.1v from the stock 1.15v and just +5% PL, clocks in games like Assassins Creed Valhalla will hit 2.8-2.9ghz. I have tested lots of games as well as a couple VR games and have not had any issues yet. I decided to give Team Red a try this time around and was looking for a little bit of an upgrade from my 3080 10GB for World of Warcraft. I game on a 32:9 LG 144hz 5120x1440 display.After weighing the pros and cons of the 4080 and 4090 I snagged one of these expecting some major uplift and I was sorely disappointed.The card itself is large and in charge and wonderfully built. It is aesthetically beautiful and the industrial placing of the "XFX" logo is nice. I game on a 32:9 LG 144hz 5120x1440 display.After weighing the pros and cons of the 4080 and 4090 I snagged one of these expecting some major uplift and I was sorely disappointed.The card itself is large and in charge and wonderfully built. It is aesthetically beautiful and the industrial placing of the "XFX" logo is nice. (76fps vs 75fps).I prefer RT on so the cards are equal. Even with it off, it is only 26% faster than a 3080 10GB.The card runs rather cool under load both GPU and hot spot running 56 and 74 respectively while fans were under 40%.I gave it a Timespy run to make sure it was running up to spec and it scored a nice and healthy 30334 GPU score boosting up to 2670mhz.As always, your game results will vary depending on title chosen. Make sure to check which titles you run and seek out comparative results before buying since. For example if you run Modern Warfare II, this card is closer to 4090 performance than 4080.Unfortunately it just isn't a good World of Warcraft card.

I then picked up the 6900 XT after the mining crash for $700 and they are both fantastic GPUs.The 6700 XT is really a 1440p card, but Shines @4k with FSR 2.x turned on.The 6900 XT is twice the card and can handle native 4k/60 at max settings as well.This all makes perfect sense and again I would highly recommend either of those GPUs at their current prices based on the performance and VRAM capacity you're getting.Admittedly, AMD's GPUs don't run "traditionally RTX geared Ray Tracing" as well as the newer RTX 4080 or 4090, but they do just as well or better in newer ray tracing games; as ... MoreSo, this generation is as bad as the last generation when it comes to cost. The Huge number of AAA games coming out over the next 5-10 years that will use UE5 is Staggering.I had no need to swap out my case (This 7900 XTX is only slightly longer than the 6900 XT as you can see), or my 850w power supply.This card takes 3x8pin power plugs and does suck down a fair amount of juice, but the performance is simply extraordinary and I cannot stress enough the Long Term Value vs Nvidia's current offerings.If the 4080 had 20-24GB of VRAM and only cost $200 more, maybe. That said, this card still beats it easily in rasterization (aka most games) and with FSR it's also easily capable of just powering through the current RT implementations.I would have considered a 4090 as well, but it would need to be no more than a $300 premium over this. That's partially bc it would have required a brand new $200 PSU to boot.All in all I'm absolutely in love with this card specifically. As with the XFX 6700 XT and 6900 XT the cooling solution is Over Engineered to handle way more than is necessary. This results in amazingly high clock speeds and shockingly low temperatures.As Happy as I am with this GPU now, I cannot wait to see all of the new UE5 games coming in this year and in the decade to follow.Grab yourself one of these if you can! Lets start by saying that I got this as a gift from my loving wife, who purchased it at BestBuy. I have long been an XFX fan having owned many of their products in my 20+ years of building computers. Always had a great experience. Had a XFX Merc 6900XT in one of my home computers and it was excellent, so I was excited to check this 7900 XTX out.First off, it's long (but looks amazing). So be aware of that as it won't fit everyone's case and be prepared to have 3 PCI 8 pin power cables and at least 850W for this beast. Right off the bat it is fast and quiet. At 100% gpu load the fans were sitting at around 35% and temps were around 54C edge and 70C hot spot. Amazing results compared to my reference model which were about 10C higher for both at 60% fan speed under the same load.But the real magic with this card is when you uncork it, with reduced voltage to 1.08v, +15% power limit, +10% memory with fast timings and upping peak frequency to 3.2Ghz, this thing flies. Obviously silicon lottery is present here, but this thing averaged almost 3.1Ghz playing assassins creed Valhalla all the while temps never hit 60C with only 40% fan speed. Which is good because the fans do start to get a bit noisy once they hit about 50% speed. Downside here is that power consumption went through the roof at almost 450W. That is one hungry gpu, but thankfully it can handle it. Very impressed.Compared to my 4080 FE, once they are overclocked, the XFX Merc stretches it's legs and is a good amount faster in most games. Unless there is Ray Tracing where the 4080 is usually faster, but I game at 4k and RT is just too demanding most the time for either card even with DLSS or FSR Quality modes, so I leave it off almost always. If you want to run RT at 4k, I think the 4090 is the only real option for playable frame rates.Everything said, at the original MSRP of $1099, this XFX Merc310 7900XTX rocks for 4k gaming. It is great looking, cools amazing, OC's like a monster, but is also huge and consumes lots of power if you let it, but thankfully you can control that. Have fun gaming!
