The Yamaha FG800 series are the best $200 to $300 dollar guitars on the planet! I own both the FG800 and the FGX800C. I've been playing for 40+ years and I've owned many fine instruments. No, this guitar is not as good as a $3000 Martin (Duh!), but it sounds VERY NICE. IMHO this guitar rivals those costing up to $1000 and this bundle is an even MORE fantastic value!

Fantastic quality. Tone is fee re ally good, action etc make it extremely easy to play and suits me incredibly well. Plays as well as instruments that cost a lot more money

Great starting place to get a even better guitar... Replaced the nut and bridge with $15 bone version and adjusted the action and intonation in the process. Needed truss rod adjusted - no big deal - comes with allen wrench. Dyed the fretboard and tailpiece with waterproof india ink to turn walnut into ebony. This guitar is brighter than my Taylor 810E, or should I say not as deep, but it projects nicely and I am not afraid to take it anywhere. Electronics sound good! Love the cutaway and onboard tuner.

Amazing guitar especially in this price range. The pickup is even volume across all strings. (not always the case even in much more expensive guitars!) plays and sounds great acoustic and plugged in!! Listed as one of the top 10 acoustic /electric guitars under $1000.
The guitar is beautiful and sounds great right out of the box with some simple tuning. The preset action looks like it is setup well. The electronic tuner works well and the preamp functions adequately. The guitar has very nice resonance and sounds like a much more expensive guitar. I spent a lot of time looking at guitars in the under $300 price point and I can not imagine getting a better sounding acoustic electric. I would recommend this guitar to anyone in the market for the same.
I bought the Yamaha FGX 800C to compliment my FG 335 and it surprized me as I never thought I would like it as much as I do. Great sound, great play-ability and a super value. The electronics are easy to use and the on-board tuner is really convenient. Yje guitar soumnds great thru mp practice amps. One of the best parts of the deal was the 45 day return policy! I bought the guitar with the confidence that if I didn't like it for any reason, I could have returned it... but I didn't!

This FGX800 is really an investment purchase I made for my daughter to replace the cheapo first guitar I gave her back 12-15 years ago (that I wouldnt feel bad about if she totaled in a week). The onboard System66 works the way it should, but Im not keen about using electronics to gauge tone because todays A/D/A devices will allow you to tweak a guitars tone in an infinite number of ways. Anyway, so my daughters matured well enough to take care of a quality instrument. Tak, Ibanez, Epi, Washburn, Fender, Ovation, etc . are all out there but the reason I went with Yamaha is simple. I am a long time guitarist, who was "ready" to drop coin in the low 4 figures range for a new Martin 6 string (I have a Martin 12 string, that is amazing). I played close to 15 different Martins over the last month. I played the Yamaha FGX800C "on a lark", and I was astonished at it's playability, action, and overall sound. It is "loud", which I like. It is also a classy looking, well finished instrument. While the Martins were, for the most part, what we all like about them. It was very appealing to spend a fraction of a Martin's cost on this Yamaha. If you are looking for a quality solid top, 6 string acoustic, just buy the Yamaha FGX800C - you won't regret it. Chris
