Yamaha YCL-255S BB Clarinet
Standard Bb clarinet with Boehm fingering, 17 keys and 6 rings, that combines state-of-the-art production expertise with high-end Yamaha clarinet features. The result is an outstanding entry-level instrument that delivers a warm, resonant tone that is remarkably similar to that of a wood clarinet. It features an ABS resin body with a matte finish that imitates the look of a wood clarinet and an adjustable thumb-rest with a neck strap ring that allows for even those with small hands to easily hold the instrument. An improved adjustable thumb-rest accommodates different sized hands helping the player develop proper playing technique. In addition, a strap ring allows for the instrument to be held without extra effort. Firmer screws and silver soldered ring gives this feature excellent durability. A redesigned bell made only of solid and durable ABS resin results in a lighter instrument with improved response. A resonance chamber in the bell aids in projection and improves intonation in lower notes. A 65mm barrel based on high-end Yamaha clarinet designs helps to produces a focused tone. The clarinet is equipped with Valentino pads that are more durable, easier to repair, and less sensitive to temperature changes. It also features the Yamaha 4C mouthpiece with plastic cap and nickel-plated ligature, stainless steel spring and threaded posts.

This is counterfeit. Having never played or purchased a clarinet before, I was unsure at first. Today I stopped at a local music store and purchase an authentic Yamaha clarinet and the difference is night and day.I only had this one for 2 days and no one played it. Having purchased from Walmart it was easy enough to return... just brought it to the customer service desk with the order number.Funny thing is... I thought this might be a good deal because these are listed for almost $1100 on some websites, and this was only $599... but the brand new *authentic* Yamaha from my local authorized Yamaha music store was only $617. Should've went their first, lesson learned. It all worked out in the end. Some dead giveaways that this was counterfeit:- No serial ... MoreThis is counterfeit. My guess is that an experienced clarinet player would also certainly be able to tell by playing it.

I used to play when I was younger, it's been 20 years since I picked up a horn. I didn't want to go with a Bundy student model, and I can't afford the R13 I used to play on in the Army band. This out of the box has a great sound, it didn't come with cork grease though so I'll have to get some.

We purchased this for my daughter to play in marching band. The sound quality is much better than her beginner instrument and we're impressed with how good it sounds even though it's not wood. For the price we purchased it for, it does feel like a good value.

I took lessons years ago and missed playing. My new clarinet has provided me with so much fun and satisfaction. It turns out, I am surprised at how much I hadn't forgotten. The YCL-255 has great tone in all registers.
Bought for my wife, she gave hers to our granddaughter, bought her a cheaper student one, and I can tell she never liked it. Bought her this one and she loves it. Says everything on it works smoothly, and now she can hit the highs and lows without much effort. Me, not a player, but I can hear the difference, this one she don't mind picking up and playing.
The product was fairly clean with no scratches and all. The case had stuff from before and could have been better cleaned. The corks had grease build up which could also have been cleaned up a bit more. Overall though the keys are all in good shape and the sound is good. so happy with the purchase.
Lovely clarinet, really glad I splashed out and went for the Yamaha. Good tone and no squeaking! I’m an adult re-learner, returning to playing after 30 years and am very much enjoying playing this clarinet. I found the video reviews and demos really helpful when choosing which instrument to buy.
Yamaha clarinets are notable for their quality, intonation and playability and this one was no exception. It required very little adjustment even after shipping and the price was exceptionally reasonable!
