I love this bread machine! We were kind of in a bind with lock down. The bread at the local store that I could eat with my extreme lactose intolerance was $8 for a half loaf. Keep in mind this is rural Hawaii prices. We don't eat a lot of bread, but we really couldn't get any. We had to mail order yeast (none in the stores) and we got a 50 lb bag of bread flour from Costco (a long drive and a long wait in a line) (again the only flour). I wanted a painless way to make bread. I had a different brand bread machine in the past, it was a pita. I love the Zojirushi bread machine. We have made so much with this machine. I am a total Zoji convert.

I've had many breadmakers over the years. This one is the best. I had Cusinart (looked nice turned out hockey puck bread) breadman (lasted 5 months) Sunbeam and one other that I don't recall. With the two paddles in this it mixes the dough so obviously better! I love that the loaves are a more traditional shape too. The only downside is difficulty getting it off the paddles and out of the pan after baking.

Bought at least 20 years ago, may be the best investment ever! I bought from King Arthur to knead dough because they reported using and I have hand arthritis. I’ve made bread at least once a week. Replaced bucket and blades over years for dependable machine.

After burning out two or three cheaper bread machines it was given a new Zojiruski for my birthday. This eBay purchase is my second Zojiruski Bread Machine. I wore out the basket gasket on one of the mixing levers. The company wanted me to buy a new basket after the warenty ran out. I decided to go on eBay and buy a nearly new machine. I had used the old one for about 8 years and it works fine...except that one mixing lever won't spin. Oh well, I love this machine. I bake once or twice a week and the machine can take all the flour that my recipies call for. I only use the machine to start the mixing process. When the mixing and rising is finished I move to dough to a greased bowel and let it rise again. I assume it does a decent job like othe bread baking machines. As for my needs, this machine takes the drudgery out of mixing and kneeding by hand. After the dough has risen I preapre the loaves as diredted in the recipe. If you are interested in upgrading your baking, have a passion for baking bread and do not have a stand mixer, this is the bread machine to buy. I recomend this machine as an excellent product to bake breads.
I have used this machine for about 10 years and have made hundreds of delicious loaves of bread! I love the horizontal model... looks closer to an out of the oven loaf than the horizontal style machines. As another reviewer pointed out, the only flaw is that it's not super easy to get the loaf out because the paddles get a little stuck in the loaf. Yes, this is true, but unless you are the weakest person in the world it does not take 3 or 4 minutes! It takes like 20-30 seconds of shaking and it slides out. I do not use cooking spray. I also like my loaf very light, so I take it out 10 min early. It is very easy to clean, just don't use scratchy stuff, obviously. For the PERFECT loaf of white bread, here is my personal recipe. Add ingredients in this order to make sure that the loaf mixes properly, very important, and requires washing of only 2 measuring utensils. (The TBS and cup) First, 3 TBS of sugar, then 3 TBS of veg or canola oil. I like to swirl the oil/sugar around for like 10 seconds to make sure the outside is coated. Then, 1.5 tsp of salt, try to spread it around instead of putting it in a clump. Add 3 cups of white flour, then 1 cup of water. If you're setting it up to start in a few hours (for example, to be ready when you get up in the morning) it is important NOTto mix the water and yeast together. Pour the 1 cup of water around the edges so that at least some of the flour on top is still dry. I even like to turn the handles under the bottom so fresh dry flour pops up. Then add 2 slightly heaping tsp of flour. I like the quick ready stuff personally. Spread it out over the top, but again if you're not making the loaf immediately, don't let the yeast get wet. If you do, it will activate, rise, and then fall before the loaf actually bakes, and you will get a flat, sad looking loaf of bread. If you're making it immediately, it doesn't matter. I set this loaf on the basic mix, light loaf, and take it out 10 min early because I like to toast it anyway and don't like it too crispy. Enjoy!!!! It comes out PERFECT every single time, it smells sooo good sometimes I even wake up a few minutes early because the house smells like a bakery. :)
The finished product is fabulous, well leavened, and looks like it came from a professional bakery. I had a vertical loaf pan in my last bread machine and I would say there are some tradeoffs between horizontal and vertical sitting pans. The vertical loaf has gravity helping to make sure that all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated and is easier to make sure that flour/liquid is fully incorporated. The Zo has a horizontal loaf pan. I must concede that there is a little more intervention with the Zo : it works much better when you check the progress at the mixing stage in case it needs more flour/water, and at the end of the knead cycle you should check to make sure that the dough is distributed as an even loaf--if not reshape. This pan fits my Zojirushi breadmachine and works perfectly, extending the life of the machine considerably at a very reasonable cost. The pan came with two kneading paddles which otherwise have to be bought separately. The two shafts turn freely and smoothly. I've baked at least 30 loaves of bread in this pan since buying it used on eBay, and it shows no sign of deterioration. It's important that the nonstick coating on both the pan and paddles is in good condition, so the fresh loaf of bread slides out easily when the pan is turned over after the bake.
Ever since I purchased this machine I have been making bread, cakes and dough almost everyday. The bread is very tasty and I enjoy knowing every ingredient used to make the bread. I would not be exaggerating to say that I am currently in a "relationship" with my bread machine. It is a wonderful machine! So easy and you can program it up to 13 hours ahead so you can wake up to freshly cooked bread in the morning. What a pleasure! You will not be disappointed.
This machine is by no means the latest model. However, it is very reliable, produces consistent results, and has all the options I need and many I will probably never use. I've run the crust option on medium and it produces a very nice golden brown. It is very, very user-friendly. In the week that I have had it, I've already made five loaves of bread. Each loaf has been a different recipe, and brought cheers and requests for more! This machine was used and obviously well-loved! The seller took such great care preparing it for shipping and went the extra mile of having the shipper package it. I am the happiest I could be with the machine, the seller, and the shipper! My thanks to all involved! All of this indicates that an older machine that can take all of this that ... MoreThis machine is by no means the latest model. Thus far, white and wheat breads are the only breads we have made. The unit is quiet, consistent and easy to clean. Loafs are full and uniform from top to bottom. As compared to the unit it is replacing, the bread is slightly more dense but is a much better bread to toast or make sandwiches. Removal of the loaf from the pan takes a little getting used too. The side lips on the pan could be bigger to give more area to hold, but they do work. I like the fact you can program your own kneading and baking timer. I am very happy with the way the oven bakes and will attempt other types of bread soon.
