This is a fantastic bread machine that is excellent quality. I’ve had mine for 15 years and just recently bought a replacement pan and blade—easy to do because this model is still in production. I store mine under my kitchen counter and lift it by its handle to the counter. It is lightweight, but sturdy, and doesn’t take up much space or move around the counter like other machines I’ve read about. The machine is quiet. Aside from a gentle whirring during kneading, the only other noises are a beep for any add-ins you might want to include and a beep for when the machine is finished. The pan has one paddle and the loaf comes out a regular shape like half a grocery store standard loaf. It makes 1-pound loaves that are perfect for 2 people. I usually make loaves once or twice a week. (It’s October and I’ve made 94 loaves so far this year.) In addition to the breads made from start to finish in the machine, I use it to knead doughs for loaves and rolls I bake in the oven, pizza doughs, and kneading pasta dough. Cleanup is easy with soap and soft sponge, but it is important not to let water get into the underside of the pan.

A wonderful addition to my kitchen

I've had this wonderful machine for about a month now, and it has met or exceeded all expectations! The recipe book that comes with it has been an excellent point of departure, and I've been able to fine-tune to make variations suiting my tastes and ingredients with a few iterations each. It is marvelously easy to make fresh bread every couple of days with this. Barring any malfunctions (so far so good!), this breadmaker is among the best kitchen appliances I have ever purchased, and I look forward to using it for many years to come!

Best little bread machine!!!

Wanted to get back to making bread instead of buying; but don't have the time to make completely from scratch. I absolutely love this machine!! It's super easy to use. All of the recipes have turned out well and it's easy to adapt other ingredients. The loaf size is perfect for two people. The timer feature makes it even better. We can have fresh bread for breakfast and another entirely different fresh loaf with dinner. I also love that the paddle stays in the machine instead of coming out with the loaf. Will have to see how it holds up over time, but it will have paid for itself in no time!

Ease of use, great recipes with this bread maker.

This bread maker was recommended by a friend who is a top baker. I wanted a bread maker that was easy to use, basic recipes and easy to maintain. Well this bread maker checks all of the boxes and more. The onion cheese recipe is SO good! We didn’t have the cheddar cheese, used Parmesan instead and it was fantastic. We had a power outage during the baking process and I thought the bread was going to be ruined. Nope. Still turned out perfect. Put this in your KA basket today!

Great little machine!

I have tried many different machines over the decades. This one makes a fantastic little loaf of bread. The size is good for toasting and making sandwiches. The bread comes out soft and perfectly baked. Even the cookie dough function is fun to use. The one caveat is the size. It is just two of us here and my thought was to bake every couple days to keep fresh loaves on hand. I upgraded to the Virtuoso Plus since I later realized I am not really up for baking during the work week. They pair well together though and I love both machines! I downloaded the Maestro manual to get recipes in grams (weight instead of volume). In this way I just put the pan on my scale and add ingredients directly- so much easier.

Love it!

My old stand mixer wore out. Since I used it almost exclusively to knead small amounts of dough, I bought this bread machine instead. The mandatory 20-minute rest is annoying, but this machine makes great dough (and bread, with much less baking energy than a big oven). I have used it 3-4x a week for the last month. The bread always rises 3 times, which seems too much but it’s not (dense buns when I tried only 2 rises). Also, the recipes work, but 120g of flour per cup makes a pretty wet dough (bakes a fine loaf but flattish buns). I should ask Zojirushi how many grams per cup they intended. Easier to clean and to move in and out of the pantry than the stand mixer. We love waking up to the smell of a fresh-baked loaf using the timer.

Not suited for whole wheat bread

I was very excited to receive this, and it made a nice loaf of white bread immediately. But I've had VERY mixed to negative results with 100% whole wheat bread. It came out okay when I used real sugar and white whole wheat flour, but when I use a sugar substitute for baking and stone-ground flour the loaf comes out misshapen and falls apart. Also, tiny crumbs get into the machine while baking and they are very difficult to get out. I've only had the machine for a few weeks, and I'm worried about what will happen when I use it regularly for a few years.

Recommended for singles

I was sick of freezing half loaves and always having to screen labels for sugar and weird chemicals. This machine lets me eat fresh bread and I know what goes in it. It's quiet and it doesn't make my entire kitchen hot for hours while bread is baking. After experimenting with ingredient amounts and translating the recipes in the accompanying booklet from volume to weight, I can easily make 3/4 and half loaves. It's a miracle machine! 10/10 do recommend

I decided on the 1lb size since I didn't want another big bulky appliance sitting around in my kitchen to take up space. This is a nice size to be able to move it from counter top to pantry or under cabinet. It has a convenient handle and can be carried with one hand. The front has a touch pad with a digital read out. The power cord isn't extremely long so you do need to use it fairly close to a power outlet. It comes with a liquid measuring cup and a double sided measuring spoon. There is no set up required other than washing before first use. It gives the instructions very clearly and all the recipes give the ingredient in the order that you are to add them to your bread maker. Then it is a matter of making you choice on the front of the machine. You can make cakes, pizza dough, soft pretzel dough bread and so much more with this machine. You can choose the color of the crust you want. You can make dough and rise it then take it out and make your own hoogie rolls like it did in the picture. This machine is very easy and well laid out to use with success. Now I regret not getting the larger size. Since this is only a 1lb machine it is definitely not for a larger size family and not for anyone who wants to make for more than 2 people. I have been using it almost daily since we are a larger family and whatever I make is gone the same day.
