I have tried different keyboards, from Logitech to HHKB. Apple is my favourite. Type-C makes for versatility and flexibility. I can now use one charging wire for my keyboard. The keystroke is soft and comfortable. Touch ID solves password entry problems. For me, I'm not used to 6 rows of keys. I bought an M1 MacBook Air shortly after they were released. The M1 chip was such a monumental shift compared to the intel Macs before it. However, the tough ID button was a close 2nd for me in what has made that laptop my favorite. The magic keyboard is exactly what you'd expect from Apple and now it has the Touch ID. I bought an open box model from Best Buy and am very happy with my purchase.

The keyboard key travel is a bit too short for my taste. Feel and sound are very similar to the macbook keyboard. The fingerprint reader built in is really the only reason to buy this if you are docking the laptop. If you are fine without that reader accessibility then this is likely not your best option. It's overpriced, not that great, and far better options from the likes of Logitech exist that make this easy to pass over. Went right back to the MX line from Logi and won't be coming back personally.
Open box excellent- I have had success and not so much at times. Although it works it had a lot of dirt on the bottom and looks like it might have been bent? Idk it’s off level I bought rises for the bottom to help with typing and to fix the lean. It’s a gamble buying open box especially online. I just would like BB to start cleaning open box excellent products and making sure that they truly are “excellent” as stated. Thanks! Picture is of the risers that i bought for it and obviously its cleaned now.. but anyway these are a must either way!
Great keyboard. I travel between offices and workstations frequently. I carry my MacBook Pro and typically dock it to a monitor when I arrive at an office. This keyboard travels with me along with my Magic Mouse. The keyboard is light and fits in my messenger style bag, very easily. What has been really helpful is the Touch ID. I rarely do work in excel or accounting so not having the number keypad is ok for my workflows.
I spilled some soda on my keyboard and ruined it so I went to Best Buy to get a replacement. The sales associate suggested this model because it also included a fingerprint scanner which I thought was great!I connected the keyboard and everything was great BUT the fingerprint scanner did not work with my iMac. My iMac is not too old at all and it was an expense 27" iMac desktop. After doing some research, I confirmed it was not compatible with my iMac! This was very disappointing!I could have definitely taken it back, however, I hung onto it as I did need a keyboard. I would just ask that the staff be better informed before quickly suggesting things and saying they will work when they are not compatible with some. Not only can that device link up to 3 devices, it has backlit keys, a mute key for your microphone, a screenshot key, charges with USB-C, and types better than the Apple Magic keyboard. The Apple keyboard makes a slapping sound while the Logitech makes a more pleasant and muted "thunk" sound when typing. The Logitech MX Keys Mini comes in black or white and has a 10-key option as well for just a few dollars more, but I prefer the Mini arrangement as a desktop space saving alternative.
I am using this keyboard for my Mac Mini M4 Pro. It took Apple awhile to go to standard, but I am delighted to eliminate lightning cables and use standard USB C for recharging. Touch ID is very handy to use and the key distance is perfect for my use, I am about a 60 wpm typist and this keyboard is good for speed, It has all the special keys one expects in using a Mac or iPad. Stays firmly on my desk and has good balance. Seem durable and I expect it will last for years.
